Thankfully, I imported an original Rust In Peace before the remasters were released.
Yeah, the remastered RIP totally wrecks Five Magics.

Britton 10-27-2005 01:29 PM

How? what do they change?

MAthiAS 10-27-2005 01:41 PM

Vocals.

FatalEnergy 10-27-2005 02:19 PM

Pretty much. The earlier ones were very hard to find though. SFSGSW kind of needed the remastering I suppose.

i agree, but there first albums needed remastering cause it was a bit bad quality

Jev 10-27-2005 04:40 PM

KIMB still needs remastering, the previous one didn't make it that much better.

Rust In Peace didn't even have a local distribution here in Australia.

I can see why he would want to remaster them, but a complete remixing like he did was unecessary.

What exactly did he do to remaster them? re-record everything?

lightningmetal666 10-27-2005 06:18 PM

I read that he had to redo Risk because when he originally did it, some @$$hole producer cut out daves redid guitar parts and redid them.

I haven't heard the album but from the feedback that I get on it, sounds like it was true.

When do you get that issue of GuitarWorld? You know, the one I sent a question to?

Probably not for another 4-6 weeks, I just subscribed the other day.

Apocalyptic Raids 10-27-2005 06:57 PM

He didn't re-record everything, although for the vocals there were a couple of instances where the master tapes were lost, so he had to redo them.

He definitely fucked around with the drums though.

smart blockhead 10-27-2005 07:37 PM

I think the drums sound pretty good on Rust In Peace Remastered. The singing doesn't bother me in Five Magics, but I think the original singing was much better on Take No Prisoners. I don't think Take No Prisoners gets the attention it deserves, it's as good as Holy Wars/Hangar 18 in my opinion. That video happy made was hillarious.

Jev 10-27-2005 07:42 PM

I didn't make it, I found it on Google videos.

Oh, I see.

smart blockhead 10-27-2005 10:22 PM

So is Megadeth broken up now? I don't know if Dave ever announced it.

FatalEnergy 10-27-2005 11:20 PM

No, Dave announced that they are continuing

smart blockhead 10-27-2005 11:26 PM

Do you have a link or anything?

Things move to slowly in this thread, more people need to post.

That's great news. I hope I'll be able to see Megadeth sometime in the future.

FatalEnergy 10-28-2005 12:54 AM

It's really just MegaDave, becaue he is the only original member, but I have a feeling that Megadeth's next album will be even better than the TSHF, because the Drover's write some awesome stuff in Eidolon, and apparently Dave is letting them have a lot of input into the music. MacDonough wasn't noticeable in Iced Earth save for a few licks here and there, because Schaffer is the head of that band and everything goes his way, so he kind of a pompous arrgoant jerk to his band members....well, at least that's what I've heard from the people who have worked with him, but I'm curious to see what MacDonough brings to the table as well.

I've seen them live twice since Megadeth reformed and as much as I like Dave I have to admit that he is the weak link of the band
