Speaking of which, I got Defenders Of The Faith from the library today, along with the Motley Crue autobiography:D

Lords Of Chaos hasn't come in yet, though :(
Love that book, even though people say it's quite one sided...

Apocalyptic Raids 06-27-2006 09:07 AM

Yeah, I've heard so much about it that it will be nice to see what all the fuss is about.

The Motley book is great so far, though.

Deth 06-27-2006 11:15 AM

And Defenders?

Lord Abortion 06-27-2006 01:54 PM
Hehe, I borrowed out Sound Of The Beast by Ian Christe. It's not too bad... I've only skimmed it but the inaccuracies seem to be minimal so far. :p
I quite like that book, however it spends too much time on hair metal, and has a curious definition of Power metal.

Defenders of the faith is my least favourite Priest album of the ones I have.

Riva 06-27-2006 05:04 PM

What ones do you have, Ollie?

I've started a playlist containing all the bands I got searching "Power Metal" in my winamp library. It's awesomeness, but some bands are missing, probably from being mislabelled. I'll have to do browsing and correcting genres.

Lord Abortion 06-27-2006 05:11 PM

British Steel, Stained Class, Defenders, Angel of retribution, Painkiller, Screaming for Vengence and Ram it down.

Riva 06-27-2006 05:16 PM

I see. My ranking of those albums:

Screaming For Vengeance, Ram It Down, Painkiller, Stained Class, Defenders, Angel Of Retribution, British Steel.

It's about midway, as you can see. Some really classic riffs, you know.

NP: Angra - The Shadow Hunter \m/

Lord Abortion 06-27-2006 05:19 PM

Wow, I didn't see British Steel being last there...It's my second behind Painkiller.
Apart from The Rage, Steeler and United, it's a brilliant album.

Painkiller though...One shot at Glory has to be up there in my "Best song ever" charts.

Riva 06-27-2006 05:24 PM

Yeah, but I liked the really raw edge the band had in their '80s. Not to say that all their albums were great: *cough* Turbo *cough*

British Steel is good, but it doesn't get all that much re-listening from me. It used to be my favourite too.

Slide Ram It Down up and down that list depending on how tolerant I am of the poorer songs.

Apocalyptic Raids 06-27-2006 07:19 PM
British Steel, Stained Class, Defenders, Angel of retribution, Painkiller, Screaming for Vengence and Ram it down.
I rate them so:

Painkiller > Screaming For Vengeance > Stained Class > Ram It Down > British Steel > AOR

Deal With The Devil alone almost puts AOR above British Steel, though.

Deth 06-27-2006 07:32 PM

Pshhh, Hellrider and Judas Rising are the best off AoR.

I'll do all the ones I have.

Stained Class, Painkiller, Sad Wings, Defenders, Screaming, Ram it Down, Angel of Retribution, British Steel, Hellbent for Leather

Unleashed in the East would crush all of them though, if it was allowed.

Apocalyptic Raids 06-27-2006 07:38 PM
Pshhh, Hellrider and Judas Rising are the best off AoR.
pfffft, Deal With The Devil is easily Painkiller-worthy.

Steerpike 06-27-2006 07:48 PM

Some of his opinions are questionable at best, and his editorializing does create some inaccuracies, but for the most part it's a pretty good book.

Riva 06-27-2006 07:54 PM

Hey, Alex, did you ever set up a last.fm?

Steerpike 06-27-2006 10:30 PM

Can't say that I have.

Lord Abortion 06-28-2006 08:07 AM

Jason, did you find Defenders of the crown?

It's easily starting to become one of my favourite albums.

NP-Knights in shining armour.

Apocalyptic Raids 06-28-2006 09:06 AM

Are you talking about Brocas Helm, Ollie?

Lord Abortion 06-28-2006 09:10 AM

Human fortress.

Apocalyptic Raids 06-28-2006 09:11 AM

oh ok.

>_>

JausmetalJ 06-28-2006 09:12 AM

Sup.

Havn't posted in this thread in a long while.

Thought id post my latest two albums:
Edguy - Rocketride
Stratovarius - (untitled?) (Selftitled?)

Both decent albums.. Really like The Matrix and Superheros on the Edguy and I like Maniac Dance and The Land of Ice and Snow off the Strat one.

What do you guys think of them?

-The Frank 06-28-2006 09:48 AM

^^
I really like rocket ride except for the song 'save me'. Otherwise great album, the oppening track pwns.

JausmetalJ 06-28-2006 09:52 AM

I like save me.

I really like Catch of the Century aswell... funny stuff at the end.
Love the accents.

-The Frank 06-28-2006 10:03 AM

Helicupter!

Save me is too much of a sappy ballad for me to get into it.

Steerpike 06-28-2006 10:22 AM

The spoken-word bit at the end of Catch of the Century is funny as hell. There's still a few things I can't quite figure out what he's saying, though. So far, I've got it down like this:

I tell you, one day you will regret it. I will sell millions of records... and I'm gonna have hundreds of women! Seven... Seven ferraris! (unsure)! A helicopter license! And uh... I'm gonna be the Formula 1 world champion! I'm gonna have a big house! (unsure)!! And you will nothing, nothing! Nothing! You will be nothing but nothing!! Aah!! Yeah!! You, nothing! Nothing, you're nothing! Helicopter!!

It's two parts that I'm still not sure what he's saying.

JausmetalJ 06-28-2006 10:26 AM

(booby?)
Ya?
Ist goot yetst
Goot?

I'm pretty sure he was saying "Toby." As in Toby Sammet.

Anyway, since I'm picky about spelling, it would technically be:

Toby?
Huh?
Ist gut jezt.
Gut?

I think thats about right.

Shattered_Future 06-28-2006 11:12 AM

I love Return to the Tribe. The vocal guitar solo is quite possibly one of the most awesome things ever.

By the way, your avatar has gotten about 500 times more sexy, Jaus. :thumb:

Haha, yeah.. I didn't even think that it would have been Toby..

and I have no idea about german spellings, so I spelt them phonetically.

Shit yeah. Heaps awesome.
