I'm back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I approve of all of those choices. Good work my friend. If you dig Acoustic music, Opeth's Damnation is a must listen for you. It's almost totally acoustic and really different but fantastic still. For Blind Guardian listen to some Rhapsody, Stratovarius, and (if you can stomach the cheesiness) Dragonforce. Dark Tranquility is good too though I'm not as familiar with them as the others, but Arsis would be another band you might branch into from there easily and if you can deal with less melody I'll recommend Nile as well. I love Metal, but I can't listen to much Jazz. There are a few bands who fuse Jazz and Metal really well too if you're interested.

Finished homework? It isn't finals yet?
Oh! I only have Damnation and I thought that's how Opeth always sounded.

PDWAB 12-08-2005 08:26 PM

Andy your song is really cool, especially at 2:00 or so when it goes all crazy.

Permanent Solution 12-08-2005 08:27 PM
James I feel a little hungover just reading that.

Vince: Wormed? Can you YSI it?
Nah, as I said my comp's broke, so my only source of music is my iPod :-\

If you can do myspace music though...

Hahahaha

No.

Opeth is more Progressive Black/Death Metal sounding on every other album. The same level of musicianship but with lots of distortion and a lot faster. And with lots of growling.
i uploaded a song that i made. check it out and give me some feedback

i should note that its just some basic electronica stuff
Nice, very nice.

billiejoe84 12-08-2005 08:30 PM

Andy's song is cool. Not really my kinda thing, but I can still appreciate it. I reckon my band's bassist would like it a lot. He's a DJ and plays that kinda music.

Good to hear. You haven't missed much. Chad went wild and throw all teh threads into random places. So, the mods were having a hell of a time. All today MX has been pretty slow and not much activity.

Hmm, I've not heard them all, but Deliverance is considered their heaviest (not necessarily best though). Still Life and Blackwater Park are both good starting points I'd think.

ZaaR 12-08-2005 08:34 PM

Anyone like Sigur Ros?

Sounds good. When I downloaded Damnation I was expecting the more Death Metal/Progressive kind of sound. I was surprised when I heard it but I still think it's pretty good.

Of course. Great band, one of my favorite bands to relax to.

Yeah, it's a really great album imo. I think the fact they could do something like that and be a Metal band made me respect them a lot more.

Damnation = my favourite Opeth album

Although, to be fair, I know little else of their stuff. To be honest, I've heard few more depressing songs than some of the ones on Damnation. It's incredible.

Yeah, it's my favorite of what I've heard, though I won't say it's their best till I hear everything else :)

Definitely an amazing album though. If you like that you may want to look into the band Agalloch.

ZaaR 12-08-2005 08:41 PM

I was listening to ( ) tonight, and I was listening to an interview on their site. Even their voices make me want to go to sleep when I listen to them.

Hahaha. Yeah, I love listening to their albums when I have insomnia. Try Ágætis Byrjun, it's considered even better than ().

cbmartinez 12-08-2005 08:44 PM

Converge > music

Just reinforcing that.

Pazz 12-08-2005 08:45 PM

I'm confused. Zack is trying to screw around with our heads.

Agalloch are my avatar! I saw them at the Day of the Equinox, one of their only shows this year, like one of the only two or something. The only one in North America. I have Pale-Folklore. Recomended downloads are: She Painted Fire pt. 1-3, Kneel to the Cross, and Dead Winter Days.

( ) is a cd by Sigur Ros
