But it's true.

TakeWarning 08-01-2006 05:37 AM

Yeah, drinking is way more fun.

As long as you know how much to drink before you start vomitng/ feeling sick.

coheneran 08-01-2006 07:35 AM

I just had a long-weekend party at my house, it was such awesome good fun. A lot of it consisted of me wandering around the neighbourhood at night barefoot on acid listening to Good Clean Fun on my discman.
This is totally unrelated and digging up the dead, but I don't care:

I'm like this too. Although I don't do them on a regular basis, I have no problem with weed & hallucinogenics. I don't drink alchohol at all -- it just doesn't appeal to me at all. People always think I'm strange for this. They always view hallucinogenics as being "harder" than booze, but I've always felt greater ill effects lie within alchohol.
Weed can trigger schizophrenic episodes and is as bad (if not worse) for your lungs than cigarettes.

In my experience, weed just makes you want to sit around, when you get drunk you do things, often stupid things, but usually fun things.

Flagjacket 08-01-2006 12:59 PM

I beleive that if people didn't depend on substances for pleasure people wuld be able to find out more about what makes themh appy naturally and people would be happier.

iliketoplaydrums10111 08-01-2006 01:04 PM

Weed is good, I smoke it like every other week, pretty moderate. Ever since I quit cigarettes

Oh and I know what makes me naturally happy, just weed is nice every once in a while to kick back and chill.

Flagjacket 08-01-2006 01:07 PM

Every other week and every once in a while is a world of difference.

I'd be happy if you weren't so bloody sanctimonious. People have been drugging themselves up since time immemorial, it's about as natural as you can get. Face it Kevin, the world sucks and it's a lot easier to accept through the bottom of a glass. I know alcohol is bad for me, that's kind of the whole point. Go back to happy clappy magic land where everything is nice and sweet. All natural highs are just drugs anyway.

Flagjacket 08-01-2006 01:32 PM

You wanna talk life sucks Joe? I'm not going to get into my personal life, but you're assuming that my life is some sort of unicorn riding ranibow bridge. I choose to deal with my problems with my own will and mind as opposed to finding my life through the neck of a bottle.

I'd be fine with you if you weren't so sactimonious about your drinking. You find out someone doesn't drink, and your first reaction is shock.

I take life where I find it. I can have fun sober, but drink helps me unwind.

It's like finding out that women aren't having lesbian sex and plotting about you when men aren't around.

Flagjacket 08-01-2006 01:42 PM
Well good for you. Not all of us are so well-adjusted.
There's a difference between well adjusted, voluntary sobriety, and being able to cope.

sketchyjoe 08-01-2006 01:42 PM

Maybe I can't cope some of the time, drink helps me leave my neuroses' behind and loosen up.

I've smoked marijuana pretty regularly for more than a year and a half. Generally when I'm around it, which could be everyday, or once a month. It's failed to have an impact on my academic or social life. My grades have consistently been good, and I've been making more, and better friends.

One under the influence of marijuana is far less impaired than an individual who has consumed alcohol.

Studies have also delved into the claim that marijuana smoke is cancer-causing, and I've read numerous reports from reliable sources stating that marijuana is unlikely to cause any type of cancer.

source:http://www.webmd.com/content/article/23/1728_57309

As long as smokers of marijuana are keeping their priorities in order, and not losing sight of what's important, they're not hurting anyone, and, in my opinion, are not criminals. Keep in mind, I'm not all for legalization, since weed would get really expensive. I just think people should reconsider what they've been told, and help to reduce the stigma carried by cannabis and its users.

sketchyjoe 08-01-2006 01:55 PM

There's really no stigma in the UK attached to it, it can trigger schizophrenia in those prone to it though.

I think the price would go down since everyone would have it.
I think the price would go down since everyone would have it.
Taxation. Same with tobacco and alcohol. When you pay for a beer, you pay like 300% the amount of money it cost to make it, if not more.

Brain Toad 08-01-2006 04:10 PM

Price would go down, but go right back up once the government puts a vice tax on it.

The theory of government putting a tax on pot is null, because tere's already a very developed black market for marijuana, there's nor eason anyone would pay a higher price whent hey could jsut get it fromth e delaer the same way. The biggest difference I can see is that drug dealers could form legitimate corporations. But eventually the market would be flooded with the product.

Alcohol was the same right afte prohibition. With work they could squash the black market.

But pot is also easier obtained than alcohol, so you have a point.

Danger Bird 08-01-2006 05:19 PM

Pot kicks ass and is nutritious too.

Hooray for Cannabis Indica!
Weed can trigger schizophrenic episodes and is as bad (if not worse) for your lungs than cigarettes.
Bullshit, bullshit, and more bullshit. You have to already have latent schizophrenia (sp?) in order for pot to bring it out, and yeah, cannabis has a little more tar than cigarrettes but I don't care how bad your pot habit is (not that weed is addictive), you're still not going to smoke 1/10th of the material you would if you had a cigarrette habit. A bowl a week and a pack a day are very very different.

Jessizzle 08-01-2006 06:06 PM

Drugs, Booze and Sex.

the-UK-ska-scene 08-01-2006 06:35 PM

I pretty much stopped drinking for a year and I was quite happy. I've started drinking again lately and I've noticed erratic mood swings, I'm hitting extremes I wasn't getting for quite a while. The problem is I am also associating the new alcohol with all the awesome people I've met in the past few weeks. I think that I, as well as a fair few people I know, am drinking to overcome the painful shyness I feel half the time.

So yeah drinking can be good, bad, indifferent. Do it or don't do it. Get over it.

Danger Bird 08-01-2006 08:01 PM

Once my dad stopped drinking coffee. He was a completely different person (in a good way).

Glitterati 08-01-2006 08:11 PM

I've majorly cut down on coffee in the past year, in a good way. I used to buy a cup of coffee like every other school day on my way to school. It was awful because I'd be in a great mood, then I'd go from that to just sitting in class practically vibrating, to coming down off being hyper and feel really depressed. I'm glad I cut down.

She stopped waking up early also.
