Be quiet you ! You're interrupting Star Wars talk ! :p

Cain 05-20-2005 11:41 AM

I'm looking forward to this movie. I fail to understand, though, after reading Roger Ebert's review of it, why he nevertheless gave it three-and-a-half stars. I don't understand it. It sounds like he hated it. I'll post the review up here if anyone wants to read it.

Never heard of those models before...but Seymour Duncan's make some great pup's.

Did you put them in, or did it already come like that? Because if the EMG HZ's were still in it you should have just stuck with those. Even though they are passive they give off killer sound on Jackson's with a tone that has some edge and thick sound to it.

Dancin' Man 05-20-2005 12:30 PM

I had active pickups in. They had already been swapped so I kept them the way they were. I asked in the guitar forum and they got a plus.

I'm glad you enjoyed them :) Blind Faith is probably my favourite Dream Theater track. Getting into Dream Theater is always a trial for those on low speed conncections because all of their songs are so bloody long.

Eitri Is Berserk 05-20-2005 02:05 PM

I looked at the file size of A Change of Seasons.. Thats going to take me 2 or 3 hours to download. I've got quite a bit I want to download this weekend. For one, I want I, by Meshugga (sp?). A few nights ago, Madey uploaded the entire 2112 album for me.. around 70 MB, should take 5-8 hours :/ And, to top it all off, I'll probably see Star Wars this weekend. Quite a busy weekend.

Probably not. I don't really have enough money to get a train up there, pay to get in, get somewhere to stay, etc. At least, not enough to do all that and still have money for summer.

Also, of course, Glasgow sucks and I'd rather remain unstabbed /requisite English prejudice :)

Did anybody purchase Mesmerize? I might get it in a few weeks.

Illmatic 05-20-2005 02:18 PM

You know what dawned on me today?

In the late-60's, people rebelled against LBJ, Nixon, and Vietnam and we got an explosion of culture and counterculture...but we have yet to see that with Iraq and Bush. Has America really gotten that lazy? Did Clinton lull us into complacence (and did I spell that right? Is that even a word?)?

I've said it before, but it's so frustrating to see lazy, indifferent Americans all around me. The more I sit and think, the more I begin to believe that my calling is in politics.

Illmatic - maybe Bush just hasn't been as bad yet. Or maybe the fact that that revolution in culture occurred then has made it less likely to happen now, because we still have something like that having happened in living memory. No, Bush is most certainly seen as bad. Most of this country hates him (don't be fooled by the election; Most of the people who hate him weren't old enough to vote, which could be a sign of hope).

I think another main reason that nothing has happened is because the revolution in the late-60's also stemmed from breaking away from the 50's and the early 60's, which was an ultra-conservative and uptight time period (culturally) in American history. With the advent of the internet and MTV and such, I think that it's not so much the case anymore (but I could be mistaken there).

EDIT: I also think a lot of Europeans (not Bartender or Jelle, or a lot of other Europeans here) need to take a long hard look in the fucking mirror. Nothing I hate more than to see Europeans who hate Americans for being obnoxiously self-righteous and ignorant prove that the center of all progressive thinking and tolerance is in Europe by ignorantly bashing all Americans and anything that is American.

It just pisses me off when Europeans prove that they're more open-minded than the Americans they are supposedly superior to by saying bullshit like "I hate Americans", "If I see an American, I'll kick their ass", "Americans better lay low if they come to [home country]"

It's fucking retarded. They are clearly just using stereotypes as well as operating under the puzzling assumption that everyone in America is a diehard Christian flag-waving Bush-supporter.

I'm getting excited about going to prom. Granted I was kind of opposed to the idea until late last night yesterday, but now that I have the tickets, and a date I'm kinda digging the idea. Especially because only one person from my school knows I'm going. I better get to use my mom's car is all else I can say.

Should I rent a tux or just wear a nice 3 piece suit? I really wanted to get a Kilt but it turns out they are extremely expensive to rent and I'm not on good terms with the only people I know who own kilts (they make and sell kitls and bagpipes for a living)

No. I love that car. VW Hatchback Jetta TDI with leather seats and a beautiful soundsystem. It not only is better than my car in everyway, but is much prettier and more fun to drive. I take any excuse I can to drive it. My car is fine, but a Subaru is lame. Plus she and I are very not limo types (she's an artsy vegan so waste like a limo is not her style. Of course, she has no problem wearing leather or spending a lot of money on clothes and I'm way too cheap for a limo)

Illmatic 05-20-2005 04:03 PM

Sounds just like what happened in the US election.

George Bush was one of the least popular presidents in recent memory (probably since Jimmy Carter in the late-70's, I'd imagine), yet won because the Democrats nominated John Kerry, the one man who makes Al Gore look lively and personable. The most distressing thing about Bush in office is the alarming rise of Fundamentalist Christians who wind up gaining power. I can't even begin to go into how stupid and bigoted these white-trash retards are.

As it is right now, the Democrats don't have their shit together, and the Republicans are as depressing as ever. And the thought of a third party with any influence is laughable at best.
she's an artsy vegan
Oh NO. I could never even coexist with someone like that.
