^ I've been wondering if that was any good
|
NP: Brain Damage
This is my favorite Floyd song right now. Definately the best lyrics from any Pink Floyd song |
As much as I love DSOTM I have to say that I like
wish you were here more...then again that's kinda hard to say |
I've liked WYWH better than DSOTM at times, but now it's safe to say that they're both tied for first in my book. It can really be hard to pick your favorite Floyd album. It's like picking your favorite child.
|
I also love animals
|
Hmmm I'd say DSOTM = WYWH > The Wall > Animals. But Animals is still one of my favorite albums.
600TH POST |
/sigh
I'm not gonna try and argue it with you though, there's nowt as queer as folk.
I'm just curious, what other Floyd album do you think has more quality solos? I'm not asking this in defense of The Wall necessarily, j/w. |
Go you!
I love animals so much The wall is just Brilliant though |
Hmmm I'd say DSOTM = WYWH > The Wall > Animals. But Animals is still one of my favorite albums.
600TH POST
I've stopped trying to put them in order because it seems like my favorite is constantly changing, but right now it's Animals(hence my avatar)>DSOTM>The Wall>WYWH. Next week it'll probably be completely different though. |
Yea I know how you feel.
Today I got saucer and The Madcap laughs So I'm checkin them out |
In terms of pure instrumental awesomeness, I'd say the best album is probably The Division Bell. Gilmour is just a much more developed and sophisticated guitarist on that recording. But that's just me.
Britton, did you get those from my email? Just curious. They're both quite good. Time for me to sleep. So long all. |
Deus, I don't think I'm on your list!
I haven't gotten any emails from you! Edit: Deus, my friend Fnnrqwin's gonna upload David Gilmour In Concert for you (his computer is way faster). I'll get you Jake Shimabukuro tomorrow. |
I downloaded saucer but I already had madcap. It came in
the mail so it prolly was from you |
I've heard that show was really good. I don't have it yet, unfortunately.
Isn't the Wall that P.F do out on DVD. y'know the one where they build up the wall while their playing, then fly a plane into or something of that nature? |

Maybe it does more than I realize, but I've rarely seen it brought up. I have to agree with this statement. Not only is Gilmour's playing superb, but I think his guitar tone on that album is the most ace it ever was. He had that baby singing there. |
The Devision Bell is great
Coming Back To Life, is his best guitar work ... |

Oh, and thanks to Fnnrqwin for the upload. I thanked you (aaron) in the CR thread, but whatev. |
The Division Bell, I feel, is looked down onto from Floyd fans who really loved Waters. I really feel bad for them, because that album, I think, has some hit and miss lyrics, but more so hits. The music is .. Wow.
Marooned from TDB won a grammy for best instrumental of the year. |
Marooned is incredible. That whole album is amazing. I just listened to it.
|
I think The Division Bell just might be the most underated Floyd album... Either that or the album that nobody pays attention to. :P
|
In terms of this thread at the very least, I'd say TDB is the most underrated. It doesn't get talked about enough.
Actually, I'm (GASP!) starting to really get into The Final Cut. Far from my favorite, but I'm still really digging it. |
It is a DAMN good album.
It's what got me into Floyd.. Thanks to my Dad. I still love jamming to Floyd with him. :P |
I'm in love with Obscured By Clouds right now. I finally picked it up for a cheap $10 this week, and it's great! Highlighted by perhaps Gilmour's best guitar playing. Fat Old Sun is one of my favorite Gilmour songs. I have a bootleg of that song with an extended solo, and it's a-m-a-z-i-n-g!
|
So I bought Live At Pompeii today and I must say it's awesome. The biggest surprise was Nick Mason, he really does some crazy sh*t on Saucerful Of Secrets and Echoes, didn't expect that from him. He always gave me the impression of a laid back drummer but he really rocks out on LAP.

I could listen to High Hopes a million times and not get bored. Probably my favorite Gilmour solo after Comfortably Numb, Shine On, and Time. Marooned is great as well. The lyrics are far from great, though. |

I don't even think the lyrics are bad. Amazing? No. But I'd say they're good. |
I think most Pink Floyd fans who listen to The Division Bell like/love it, does anyone in here not like it? The Division Bell makes me feel very good inside.
I woke up and did a little wake n bake, turned on Wish You Were Here (vinyl) and made some morning eggs and tea. Right now I'm on Shine On You Crazy Diamond (part VI, I do beleive). Today's turning out to be a Pink Floyd day I think...I'd say Saucerful of Secrets sounds like it should be listened to next. Anyone listen to Saucerful of Secrets yet today? It's not the type of album I usually listen to in the morning, I am usually more of a Meddle/DSOTM/WYWH kind of guy for Pink Floyd in the morning, and I really like Saucerful of Secrets, PATGOD, DSOTM and The Wall at nighttime (basically just the albums I have the CDs of are the ones I listen to at night). Although it is 2:30 in the afternoon now...so Saucerful of Secrets should be good to go. :D |

Although I was listening to Saucerful of Secrets earlier, actually. |
I don't even think the lyrics are bad. Amazing? No. But I'd say they're good.
Meh, High Hopes has great ones, but the others are pretty average. I'm in a bit of Dylan mood right now, put on some Rush before, but now I just started Desire. Hurricane is my fav Dylan song. |
IT'S DONE!
All 8.33 gigs of the Wall live bootleg is done! Im so excited! |
how do yall bootleg cuz im just used to gettin stuff off of kazza and bearshare?
|
It's a bootleg?
and being in Tejas is a good thing amigo |
not in san antnio there is absolutly nothing to do but then again im still a minor
|
It's a bootleg?
and being in Tejas is a good thing amigo
you live in San Antonio? It would be cool to live in Texas. My dad grew up there and a few members of his family live in Texas, so I go there 1-2 times a year. San Antonio's cool. This post has nothing to do with Pink Floyd. At all. I actually haven't listened to any Floyd today  /puts on WYWH |
It's a bootleg?
and being in Tejas is a good thing amigo
so how do u send each other the bootlegs? |

I think High Hopes is one of my favourites from The Division Bell. What does everyone think of A Momentary Lapse of Reason? I love it. I like it more than Animals actually, although it's not as good as some of (most of) Pink Floyd's earlier albums. Here's one thing I've always wondered about Pink Floyd fans. What do you guys think of live Zeppelin? I honestly think live Zeppelin (The Soundtrack to the Song Remains the Same, HTWWW etc) is just as ingenius/experimental/"trippy" as a lot of Pink Floyd. It would be awesome to hear Pink Floyd and Zeppelin jam on a song like No Quarter. I hear definite Pink Floyd influences in Zeppelin songs like No Quarter. |
yeah i know exactly what ur talking bout, and dazed and confused kinda reminded me of pink too

Learning to Fly, Sorrow and On the Turning Away in particular are really amazing songs. |
Live Zeppelin bores the hell outta me.
This bootleg.... isnt a bootleg. This was shot by a crew hired by the band. I can tell because they have shots from back stage, and multiple camera changes. I wonder why they dont release this as a DVD? NP:Pink Foyd - Empty Spaces(Live) NW: Flower sex |
