man i cant stop listening to galloglass' 'a wintertale', its to damn awesome for words

LegionsofMarduk 06-25-2006 09:47 AM

I don't really have anything to contribute. I'm just bored. Had to come into work on a Sunday to catch up. I just wanted to say:

Demons & Wizards = \m/ >.< \m/

Especially since I'm the only person in the office so I can crank my headphones as loud as I want. :thumb:

Apocalyptic Raids 06-25-2006 10:27 AM

The Self-titled is great. I wasn't a fan of the second album though.

Lord Abortion 06-25-2006 11:34 AM

I bought Two Nocturnal Rites albums, The Book of heavy metal by Dream Evil, and 3 inches of Blood's Advance and Vanquish...all for under £25...May Odin bless Virgin Megastores sales!

Sadly, I don't own either of their albums yet, but I have a bunch of songs and I love them. I could just borrow my friends Touched by the Crimson King too...we'll see.

I bought a bunch of albums on vacation at a Virgin Megastore.

Stoic 06-26-2006 02:34 AM

Anyone here like Freedom Call?

Riva 06-26-2006 04:47 AM

I wish I had a nearby Virgin Megastore. :(

Orestes, no I haven't sorry.

Lord Abortion 06-26-2006 08:06 AM

You really don't...Im not sure what it's like in other countries, but over here, the prices are astronomical, same as HMV for the most part.

All the stuff they have on sale in the HMV "Metal section" is gay mallcore kid metal and pop-punk.

Apocalyptic Raids 06-26-2006 08:11 AM

Actually, I've seen a couple of decent HMV metal sections before, but they were nothing to write home about.

not to mention overpriced.

Lord Abortion 06-26-2006 08:14 AM

Yeah, the selection is mostly alright...just horrendously overpriced.

In no way should anyone pay more than £7 for any album, I refuse to.

Apocalyptic Raids 06-26-2006 09:05 AM

man that's only $17 aussie.

$20 aussie is a cheap album by my standards. The usual price is at least $25 :(

Steerpike 06-26-2006 10:12 AM

Sounds like FYE over here. Ghost Reveries? $20. Danzig II - Lucifuge? $17.

Stadium Arcadium? $24. And that's during a sale.

Lord Abortion 06-26-2006 10:22 AM

Ghost Reveries is about £7 or £8 over here, but that and Still life are the only Opeth albums there ever are cheap.

Shattered_Future 06-26-2006 11:26 AM

FYE is UNBELIVEABLY overpriced. It's sad...

BestBuy has decent prices, and a halfway decent selection, and Tower has worse prices but a much better selection.

Stormrider 06-26-2006 02:51 PM

The Virgin Mega stre had a decnt selection of Metal I guess.

There's this store that's called Archambault. Sells books, cd's DVD's, even has an instrument corner. Last the cd's were overpriced, but I went there yesterday, and saw lots of stuff I usually don't see at failry good prices.
I mean Falkenbach's Heralding the Fireblade, some Galloglass albums ect.

ollie_poole 06-26-2006 02:51 PM
Sure thing, I'll get you the X-Factor, it's purely awesome.
Really??? Don't get me wrong, 'Sign of the Cross' is one of Maiden's best songs. 'Fortunes of War', 'Lord of the Flies' and 'Look for the Truth' are also great songs but apart from that there really isn't anything to write home about.

Having said that, it's not as bad as the press would have you believe. I'd give it a 6 or 7/10

Lord Abortion 06-26-2006 04:38 PM

The aftermath, fortunes of war, blood on the world's hands, the edge of Darkness...they're all up there with the best things they ever did write in my opinion...the dark tone, asking questions about real life...it's very introspective and I love it.

Nepenthe 06-26-2006 04:46 PM

There used to be a Virgin Megastore here in Dallas, but they just went out of business. They had a decent selection and decent prices. It was about $18 for a cd, which I guess isn't TOO bad, but I'd still rather order online.

Shattered_Future 06-26-2006 07:37 PM

I remember I went to a Virgin Megastore in NYC...got my copy of Oceanborn there.

I remember I stood there with my mom for about 5 minutes arguing with her to lend me 20 bucks to get it. :p

Deth 06-26-2006 07:40 PM

There's one I've been to in Disney World that's pretty good. Hideously overpriced though. It was the only time I've seen Cynic - Focus in store, so I picked it up immediately.

Shattered_Future 06-26-2006 07:47 PM

Cynic in Disneyworld? Man, what the hell is this world coming to?

Txus 06-26-2006 07:53 PM

I saw a dude with a Cattle Decapitation shirt in Nickelodeon studios...I laughed so hard.

Tyler 06-26-2006 07:55 PM

When I was in Grade 3, I was a model for a Nickolodeon Calendar. We dont have Nickolodeon here, so I never got to see it.

Deth 06-26-2006 07:57 PM

You're my new hero.

Tyler 06-26-2006 08:00 PM

I can't spell Nickelodeon.

Stormrider 06-26-2006 08:05 PM

That's the one I went to

I go there every year when ever we go to Florida heh. Going back this summer, hopefully I'll have a little money to spend on a cd or 2.

Riva 06-27-2006 05:37 AM

Bah, you guys are spoiled for choice. I get excited when I see a Judas Priest album at my local stores. :p

Apocalyptic Raids 06-27-2006 06:33 AM

Speaking of which, I got Defenders Of The Faith from the library today, along with the Motley Crue autobiography:D

Lords Of Chaos hasn't come in yet, though :(

Riva 06-27-2006 07:09 AM

Hehe, I borrowed out Sound Of The Beast by Ian Christe. It's not too bad... I've only skimmed it but the inaccuracies seem to be minimal so far. :p

Yeah I've been to that one a few times as well. Can't remember if I bought anything or not though.
I saw a dude with a Cattle Decapitation shirt in Nickelodeon studios...I laughed so hard.

Once when I went golfing last year there was a guy at the course wearing a Darkthrone t-shirt. Got a pretty good laugh at that.
