Well, that specific highway isn't even a real highway.

The limit on that one is 65, instead of 75 [like 10...the one I was ticket'd on was 90].

They did it because on that highway there are 2 crappy little towns that can't make a living at all, so they heavily patrol that specific portion of highway for people like me, who just want to get home already [at that point I'd already been driving for like an hour, and we were hungry...I was coming back from picking my boyfriend up from the airport. He's going to send me $70 to pay for my defensive driving course, and I'll pay him back when I get a job].

I got caught right across from the boarder checkpoint, too.

Or, rather, "A US citizen."

That's rather lame, but rather common whre you live I've heard. The last time I got a ticket I was going 69 in a 55, where the speed limit should have been 65 at least. (large four lane highway), no traffic on the road, etc.

Regardless, they're both insanely lame.

The checkpoints serve no purpose at all, they're a waste of space, time and money.

This whole border thing blows, I can't wait to move to the midwest...all I have to worry about there are Neo-Nazis, and you can't tell I have Jewish heritage.

But yeah, the towns around here are damnably poor and do whatever they can to make money.

I got a parking ticket once for $75 freaking dollars when I wasn't even really doing anything wrong.

Most parking tickets are like. $20.

Part of it was also my out-of-state plates though...even though I'm allowed to have them, policemen get all pissy about it.
