Gawd my teacher is such a nerd. He's ridiculously good at drums. He's mates with Vinnie too if that shines light on the issue.

He gives me some ridiculous phrasing idea stuff, like playing (what would be) a bar of 6/4 inside a bar of 4/4 by playing it as triplets.

The first example is what you think you are hearing, three paradiddles and some inverted doubles in two bars of 6/4. When you phrase it through triplets it becomes two bars of 4/4.
You could accent the first of every four (shown in bold) making the first example contain 3 groups per bar, and the second example sounding kinda polyrhythmic..

Yeah, same here. In the summer here (no ac in college....:angry:) I often sleep with no sheets whatsoever and the fan blowing directly on me, hah.

I thought of another example of the concept I explained above. I modified a basic Mozambique groove to fit 6/4, and moved it to 4/4 triplets.

Hey guys got a question I was just wondering...

I have New Breed but haven't started it yet as I'm already working on Stick Control/rudiments, the Art of Bop Drumming and the stuff my teacher gives me. Should I start going through New Breed as well as all this or should I finish Art of Bop first so I can really get my teeth stuck in and concentrate on each one individually or should I do a little out of each together?

Please don't ignore me otherwise I'll be forced to have to waste the question on a new thread....!
