Too many developers concentrate on graphics and their games end up sucking. Good game play is more important

gears of war is xbox only too i think
Yeah, but the ending of Gears Of War left me feeling ripped off; and I rented the game. I don't even know any one who played Gears of War II. Though most my friends played Gears Of War through when it came out; rented or owned.

Seriously, the game just started to get good. I thought hey, mini-boss before final boss. You know, kill this guy and have like another level or two before the final boss.

No... end!

We need an icon for : pissedthefuckoff :

jaklyons 10-27-2010 04:14 PM

Drinking some Old Speckled Hen atm. It's alright; not as good as I was expecting, but it's still OK. I envisage it being excellent for getting pissed with mates.

Blue_Moon 10-27-2010 08:50 PM

never liekd gow, played one level and hated it,

notfor al im afraird

captain morgan and fanta tastes like a super split, dangerously easy to drink

Sad But True 10-28-2010 02:08 AM

Gears of war is the most fun multiplayer game ever made. End of.

And who gives a shit about consoles when we all know PC's are better anyway. Which reminds me, I need to castrate whichever cunt at student finance lost my goddamn declaration form then decided not to inform me and instead just delay my loan for a month, so that I can go out and buy New Vegas.

I mean yeah sure I should probably fix my car and pay rent first but NEW VEGAS people.

benfan 10-28-2010 02:21 AM

I like GoW too. Awesome to play co-op. And the Cole Train is the funniest game charecter ever.

Sad But True 10-28-2010 02:24 AM

No, but you have just reminded me of some rather epic times on MarioKart 64.

EmbraceRandom 10-28-2010 03:02 AM

Tbh Mashed on the old Xbox was a great multiplayer game

Papa Shank 10-28-2010 03:37 AM

Er, Goldeneye anyone? And the numerous games which were spawned from its success? If you were into racing then Project Gotham Racing (might have been the second one) was awesome fun for online multiplay

Sad But True 10-28-2010 04:04 AM

Goldeneye was mint but it's tinged with nostalgia; going back and playing it recently revealed that it is now an incredibly clunky and horrible looking game.

I suppose you wanna hate on Pong and Tron too eh?

jk, it's true that these games are dated but at the time and even a few years after they were still the shiznit that spawned a generation.

jaklyons 10-28-2010 06:29 AM

Goldeneye is still awesome.

Junooni 10-28-2010 10:13 AM

Just registered for next semester's classes. I can never avoid having at least one early class each semester, schools don't want engineering majors to sleep apparently.

Berner 10-28-2010 07:56 PM

So I haven't posted in this forum for a while so I thought the lod was the right thread. I finally got myself an 8 string. It's definitely going to require some patience to learn how to play properly.

Left Face Down 10-28-2010 09:23 PM

That neck looks so bloody wide. I have small hands :upset: Maple board looks pretty sexy though. Really need to add a guitar with a maple fretboard to my collection one day.
Just registered for next semester's classes. I can never avoid having at least one early class each semester, schools don't want engineering majors to sleep apparently.
I hardly ever had an engineering class that was after 1:30 p.m., and never had a semester in which I didn't have a 7:30 a.m. or 8:30 a.m. class. I think this is definitely a trend in most schools. They figure you picked an actual major that is worth a damn. So they figure you'll have the motivation to get up at 6 in the morning for class, as well as stay up until 2 in the morning doing homework.

Only upside was most my classes handed out homework and took up homework on a regular basis. So I could literally plan my week around it.

Modern Iconoclast 10-28-2010 09:41 PM

Thankfully my school only has like 1 or 2 7:30am classes, I think they're physics or chem classes. I hate early and night classes and try to avoid them, I usually manage to get all mine in during the middle of the day but I always seem to get stuck with 1 8 or 8:30am class. At least next semester it will only be on Tues and Thurs instead of 4 days a week like this semester.

Berner 10-28-2010 10:13 PM

Blue_Moon 10-29-2010 12:57 AM

Zed_Leppelin 10-29-2010 01:41 AM

so he can just use the top one

and go

BERRRR BAAAHHH BERP BA BERP BAHHHH BEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Blue_Moon 10-29-2010 02:10 AM

I like it

Papa Shank 10-29-2010 02:21 AM

I have my eight string so that when people tell me I'm a crap guitarist I simply reply saying "no no no, I am not a crap guitarist, I'm an awesome bassist"

EmbraceRandom 10-29-2010 02:28 AM

Man I feel shit at guitar at the moment. FML.
Not just at playing, but at composing. How the feck do I improve how I compose? I'm very imaginative and I'd like to think that I'm very creative, but I just can't write anything decent :(

I read somewhere that the best way to be original is first imitate. With that in mind, do you think it'd be a good idea to learn a lot of the music that I'm really into at the moment (i.e. SikTh, incredible guitar stuff IMO), perfect that and then try composing again?

I've always found it hard to do that, because I hate the idea of 'imitating' but I guess I wouldn't be imitating, merely influenced by a new-found knowledge of the guitar work of my favourite band. meh.

Bruce E Kinesis 10-29-2010 03:10 AM

Goldeneye is only good if you play it with everyone on 'handicap -10' so that bullets actually mean something (what good is an assault rifle if emptying it into someone does nothing?)

It helps to know that nothing is ever really original ;)

no, sikth don't know how to compose.

i appreciate your enthusiasm but you need a broader interest in music to develop good composition skills.

sikth write stuff that is monotextural and sometimes structurally incoherent.

What would you suggest then?

FWIW: I find I'm most inspired by a band when I can pick out their flaws. SikTh aren't dynamic at all, I absolutely adore their music but it's very similar throughout (e.g., there's barely anything other than distorted guitars).

I played a 4-player game once where we were all on +10 handicap and unarmed.

honestly, classes.

but also get a friend and a real book and start doing a session a couple of times a week going through jazz tunes, then when you have 10 or so under your belt start gigging with them. Find your way into an active community of musicians and you will learn very quickly.

Sad But True 10-29-2010 09:39 AM

Slappers was brilliant but everyone innevitably got bored pretty quickly due to everyone being quite good at doging each other, resulting in running in circles seeing no-one for 20 minutes.

I tune my 7 string to F#, C#, F#, B, E, G#, C# so it can do anything your silly 8 strings can. So nerr.

Cheers for the help mate. A few things though:
- Classes? What kind of classes?
- By friend do you mean someone else on guitar or on another instrument?
- What do you mean by 'real' book?
