Been downloading lots of excellent doom lately, I've recently gotten an album from Trouble, Pentagram, and Doomshine. All which I have been enjoying lately.

Txus 04-01-2008 04:57 PM

dUSK 04-01-2008 05:26 PM

I need some new doom. Anyone found any good Funeral type stuff lately?

Which Trouble and Pentagram did you get?

Glad you finally got Pentagram.

Lee I've got my guitar playing uploaded I'll post it in here and in the NM thread because there are two tracks, the second one is me playing the solo to Bewitched, which I believe pertains to this thread.

Sponer 04-01-2008 06:58 PM
Sponer, try some of the bands like Weedeater, Bongzilla, Graves at Sea, Zoroaster
Thanks, that's more what I was looking for. I'm listening to Zoroaster right now, and loving it. Might be because I'm  though.

And I listened to that Candlemass album today. It was good, but I dunno yet. Needs some more listens. I'll check out that other album that was mentioned, too.

soon you will drop the bm

Angmar 04-01-2008 07:20 PM
Which Trouble and Pentagram did you get?
Psalm 9 and Day of Reckoning, Psalm 9 is better but both albums rule.
soon you will drop the bm
lol wut

Angmar 04-01-2008 07:23 PM

Do any of you guys know if Atraxie are a worthwhile funeral doom band? I've seen good reviews and was just curious for some more opinions.

EDIT: Fuck you for deleting your post Elim and making me double post!

Eliminator 04-01-2008 07:26 PM

theyre probably no different than most funeral doom bands

after all, RASPUTIN jocks them

Angmar 04-01-2008 07:28 PM

Brian, I'm not hbp, I can handle listening to more than one genre at a time.

Eliminator 04-01-2008 07:29 PM

hahahaha

Nostalgia 04-01-2008 07:59 PM

Ataraxie is really, really boring. Don't bother.

Angmar 04-01-2008 08:04 PM
Ataraxie is really, really boring. Don't bother.
Haha, your opinion was strangely enough one that had me wanting to check it out.

http://img527.imageshack.us/img527/8774/lolih4.jpg

I might check it out eventually but not any time soon.

Txus 04-01-2008 08:10 PM

I like them.

Daven 04-01-2008 08:12 PM

...every now and then

Nostalgia 04-01-2008 09:46 PM

How long ago did I say that? I'm assuming a long time ago, because they're boring as hell I think now. I think I have Slow, Transcending Agony or whatever, and it's boring as ****.

Daven 04-01-2008 09:47 PM

Yeah, that's the one.

NemesisDivina 04-01-2008 09:50 PM

Okay guys, it's my turn to wank on Warning. I've been listening to Watching From A Distance a lot lately. How good is The Strength to Dream compared to it?

Nostalgia 04-01-2008 09:52 PM

I like it better. The drumming is excellent on the Strength to Dream, the vocals are a little more natural sounding, the riffs are flatter (it sounds better), the production is kind of different, and lyrically I think it's stronger.

I dunno, it's just more of a depressing album I believe, but they're both equally draining in a sense.

NemesisDivina 04-01-2008 09:56 PM

The vocals especially are really depressing. That's what I enjoy about them though. They're really unique and they manage to create that really emotionally draining atmosphere.

I love the drum sound on WFAD a lot... but sometimes the drummer gets into these really obnoxious patterns that sort of annoy me.

Angmar 04-01-2008 09:57 PM

The one song I've heard off The Strength to Dream "Cemetery Eyes" doesn't even come close to anything off Watching From a Distance.

Daven 04-01-2008 09:59 PM

So should i check warning out?

Angmar 04-01-2008 10:00 PM

Get Watching From a Distance immediately.

Nostalgia 04-01-2008 10:00 PM

That's off Blessed by the Sabbath, which isn't that good. Totally different Warning.

Daven 04-01-2008 10:01 PM
Get Watching From a Distance immediately.
I shall do so.

dUSK 04-01-2008 10:02 PM

I like Ataraxie - Slow Transcending Agony. Never really read anything bad about it until just now. Check it out and make up your own mind Angmar.
Okay guys, it's my turn to wank on Warning. I've been listening to Watching From A Distance a lot lately. How good is The Strength to Dream compared to it?
I always meant to check The Strength To Dream out, but I never got around to it. I mean, WFAD had a great cover like http://static.metal-archives.com/images/1/3/1/4/131406.jpg ,

And then I saw http://static.metal-archives.com/images/5/2/9/5/52957.jpg which just puts me right off. Talk about fruity. That's one of the few times judging a book by it's cover has really come up for me, so to speak.
I need some new doom. Anyone found any good Funeral type stuff lately?
Anyone?

Nostalgia 04-01-2008 10:06 PM

That cover doesn't do it justice at all. It's a shitty photo for an awesome album.

Don't judge a book by its cover, nig.

dUSK 04-01-2008 10:07 PM

I usually wouldn't, but that **** just made  and forget.

Wow, what an awful cover.

Nostalgia 04-01-2008 10:57 PM

Watching from A Distance's cover always reminds me of that gay Led Zeppelin one.

Angmar 04-01-2008 10:59 PM

I'm not seeing it with any Zeppelin albums...

http://www.sputnikmusic.com/images/albums/217.jpg

That's the closest I saw and that's a huge stretch.

Angmar 04-01-2008 11:05 PM

Ahh fuck, I forgot about that one lol.

I was viewing them all at a very small scale. :p

gmoneyguy 04-02-2008 07:40 AM

Mirror Mirror is now my ringtone. I am doom as ****.

Nostalgia 04-02-2008 09:02 AM

lmao. Where did you get a Candlemass ringtone?
