Nah, I see convert selection to AAC when I right click on the song but I don't think that works.

AAC is m4a.

edit->preferences->advnaced->importing

import using: mp3 encoder

Guys...AFI's new song isn't that good, but I have to admit...I'm very hooked to it atm...I've listened to it 3 times in a row and counting :(
