Third was Animosity. The first thing I noticed was that their guitars sounded like complete ***. They had sort of a punk rock tone and not much low end. Their drummer was amazing, but it was kind of a waste with the guitarists and bassist not moving at all, no exaggeration, and sounding like crap. Their singer is awesome and was very energetic. Overall I didn't really enjoy their set very much, mainly cause they didn't sound remotely heavy because of the guitar tone and the boring lack of energy. I bought the hoodie that I posted above before they played, but that's not to say I wouldn't have bought it because I didn't enjoy seeing them live. They still have lots of awesome albums that I listen to.

The next deathcore show I'll be going to is the Montreal Assault Tour with Despised Icon, Beneath The Massacre, Neuraxis, Carnifex and The Plasmarifle in February.
That sucks about Animosity bro, I'd be quite disappointed if they didn't live up to my expectations but I'm not surprised Navene killed it, he's in a league of his own

Imma see that Montreal Assault Tour in Feb, when I saw the Planetary Duality Tour it was Neuraxis who put on the best show.

Plus I really wanna see BtM and Plasmarifle, maybe the singer from Plasma will sing one of his old songs with Neuraxis. I'm not huge on DI but they'd be dec to see I guess.

former marching drummers who play in metal bands? theres actually a few more ill have to ask my old band's drummer cause well, he gets hard to other marching/metal combo drummers.

HighandDriving 12-05-2008 10:29 AM

Navene was in a marching band?

hismajestythepope 12-05-2008 10:31 AM

idk thats what james (drummer i was talking about) said, also, my other old band's old drummer said the same thing in the same conversation. they were totally going off about how good navene is haha.

Yeah it was a disappointment, but for some reason I think they had a fill in guitarist and bassist, cause they seemed really young and scared to death to be on stage. I hope that is the case and I can see them again in the future with the real members.

Yeah I'm looking forward to that tour. Neuraxis' new album is quite good. BtM put on a good show, they are much better live now than they used to be. DI should be fun to watch, since I haven't seen them live before.

hismajestythepope 12-05-2008 01:40 PM

idk that band just is really young

HighandDriving 12-05-2008 01:50 PM

How old are those guys 21-22?

hismajestythepope 12-05-2008 04:11 PM

theyre mostly my age (20) and navene's 18 i believe

Dimmu Burger 12-05-2008 04:30 PM

Well I didn't think they were young because they were one of the first deathcore bands and they have a lot of cds.

hismajestythepope 12-05-2008 04:40 PM

navene was 13 when their first album came out

adb 12-05-2008 08:15 PM

Animosity blows balls live

That's not coming near me, but I'm sick of seeing After The Burial live anyways. Pretty boring.

2muchket! 12-06-2008 09:11 AM

I'd love to see Veil of Maya live :/

hismajestythepope 12-06-2008 11:27 AM

theyre so so so good

also, goddamn i still cant believe how young animosity was when their first album came out, especially navene

HighandDriving 12-06-2008 11:51 AM
theyre mostly my age (20) and navene's 18 i believe
I'm pretty sure they're 21 (my age youngin') cause I'm pretty sure the majority were 16 when they released Shut It Down.

2muchket! 12-06-2008 11:53 AM

They were about that age I believe when they released their first album.

Navene might've been younger tho'.

says 15 on metal-archives.

RetiredAt21 12-06-2008 12:02 PM

Dudes I need some good deathcore, my gf likes it but she listens to awful ****. What are some good bands? I already like Animosity A LOT and Whitechapel is alright.

2muchket! 12-06-2008 12:04 PM

The Red Shore, Veil of Maya, The Argent Dawn and Viatrophy may be to your liking.

hismajestythepope 12-06-2008 12:04 PM

i remember you not liking animosity last year, maybe i just tripped too much idk.

i think you might like old embrace the end, mad dbeat drumming and really raw vocals. but theres a lot of like, melodeath and pop-punk riffs mixed in so idk.

rifles at recess though, definitely.

RetiredAt21 12-06-2008 12:08 PM

Rifles At Recess are OK from what I'm hearing on their myspace.

hismajestythepope 12-06-2008 12:14 PM

the songs on their myspace dont do them justice, you gotta hear "here's to the broken boys" and "i died 20 times in 1986"

beans 12-06-2008 02:50 PM
The Red Shore
not even worth it

encmetalhead 12-06-2008 04:19 PM

i concur

hismajestythepope 12-06-2008 04:24 PM

band is epic, justin would hate them.

whiteminority 12-06-2008 04:28 PM
Rifles At Recess are OK from what I'm hearing on their myspace.
Rifles at Recess are not a deathcore band...

hismajestythepope 12-06-2008 05:10 PM

no they just play a mix of melodic death metal and hardcore

whiteminority 12-06-2008 05:12 PM

that doesn't make it deathcore...

hismajestythepope 12-06-2008 05:13 PM

actually thats pretty much the definition of deathcore

and 99% of non-br00tal deathcore bands rip them off hard

whiteminority 12-06-2008 05:17 PM

ripping your riffs from gothenburg instead of slayer doesn't make your band deathcore. that's like calling the first dead to fall album deathcore.

hismajestythepope 12-06-2008 05:23 PM

omgz deathcore isnt an genre ugh ugh ugh ugh

stfu, youre a snob

whiteminority 12-06-2008 05:26 PM

i think deathcore is one the dumbest genres ever, but i do recognize that is one. whine some more about my knowledge that you wish you had.

hismajestythepope 12-06-2008 05:29 PM
i think deathcore is one the dumbest genres ever
no, reiner, defelon, etc. do
but i do recognize that is one. whine some more about my knowledge that you wish you had.
youre clearly a retard then, here ill try the bolding thing again.

melodic death metal + hardcore = deathcore

and RAR =/= rip-off Gothenburg riffs

theres a difference between mdm, and that garbage, but like you can try to drop knowledge on someone who listens to **** tons more metal than you i guess.

whiteminority 12-06-2008 05:32 PM

why do you have to divide every single subgenre up into a billion more? there is no need to do that metalcore has worked perfectly fine. you're education means jack **** to me, because you're not doing anything i'm not changing my opinion over what some twat on the internet thinks.

hismajestythepope 12-06-2008 05:34 PM

the whole reason i posted this thread was because people dont like this type of music in the death metal thread, also, some of the bands that people call "deathcore" arent even metalcore really at all (through the eyes of the dead or job for a cowboy anybody?).

seriously, you're not getting any cool points, and you clearly do care.
