That's quite a project. Keep us updated on progress.

I defretted an old BC Rich bass of mine and now Im making a new body for it and epoxying the fretboard if somebody has and tips or tricks I might want to know about

Liebensaft 12-22-2006 08:23 PM

Cool. The people in the bass forum are pretty smart and can help you. I never looked much into defretting.

Anxious 12-22-2006 08:42 PM

Check out the Lutherie sub forum in bass.

Danger Bird 12-23-2006 03:14 AM

Yeah, my only advice would be to not fuck up the action.

bigblondeafro87 12-23-2006 01:47 PM

Nah I've got it under control. I've messed around with basses quite a bit so I think I got it under control. Playing a fretless is verry nice, because it feels so much more natural. Right now the spiky body is retarded looking and uncomfortable and the single P- pickup in the neck position sounds really bad, so I've gotta work on the body

Danger Bird 12-23-2006 03:52 PM

I love playing fretless.

yourstruly 12-23-2006 05:12 PM

Fretless sounds hard to play.

Only DIY thing i've done lately, is cut/ripped the sleeves off one of my t-shirts.

Danger Bird 12-24-2006 12:55 AM

I have a t-shirt with your avatar on it.

bigblondeafro87 12-24-2006 09:52 AM

I just patched up a couple huge holes in a backpack of mine with pieces of one my dad's flannel shirts. shhhhh.....

yourstruly 12-24-2006 06:24 PM

I re-stitched a patch on my bag, and cut the peak off of my peaked beanie then stitched it up with a big needle and wool, cos peaked beanies are lame and I might need something to cover however my hair is at school next year if my admins don't like it.

The Ska Man 12-24-2006 08:22 PM

You guys ever make pants? I want to, I just don't wanna spend cashola on material that I'd end up wasting. Any tips for some really simple pants?

bigblondeafro87 12-24-2006 08:28 PM

I dunno it can't be too hard. If you have any spare canvas or any cloth you could experiment with making the legs and everything, then just buy some denim or whatever when you think you're ready

Positively Rob 12-25-2006 08:10 AM

If you don't have a sewing machine I would advise against it and instead go to a thrift shop and get a cheap pair there.

yourstruly 12-25-2006 07:05 PM

I found a shop that sells counterfeit versions of the pants i wear for $10NZD rather than $60NZD for the ones I already have.

I shall be stocking up, soon.

The Ska Man 12-25-2006 08:44 PM

I don't know how much dollars that is..but it sounds like a lot for pants..

just checked..40 bucks..still a lot for pants. Nice find, though! that's crazy!

_lower_class_brat_ 12-26-2006 12:29 AM

Man tell me how easy it is to learn because I've considered it many a time but people have told me it's quite difficult.

I think mine is different than your typical silk screen kit. It says you can use images printed out from your computer and somehow get them onto a screen... I have no idea how to use this yet.. I think I'll be taking my first attempt sometime tommorow.

Positively Rob 12-27-2006 08:14 AM

Silk screening is easy here are some websites to help you out:

Silkscreening is a piece of piss, you just need someone to show you firsthand

Is your bass strap made of ducktape?

Jono9119X 01-01-2007 12:45 AM
Is your bass strap made of ducktape?
hah yeah it is....its crappy but we had band practice like tihs weekend, and i realized i only had one strap, one for hte guitarist, and i needed a strap so i made that one in under 3 minutes haha...but it works..

Danger Bird 01-01-2007 12:50 AM

My friend had one of those. Also, his bass was red, so he used red sharpie to fix little dings in the finish. Then he painted it white all by himself but it looked great.
