The Nihilist demos rule too.
I have a live Nihilist audio bootleg. It's quite good
I am ultra death head
Me too |
I find it EXTREMELY hilarious that you act like a know-it-all about metal music when you've been listening to metal for "close to two years." I've been listening to hard rock music for about 15 years now, and I've been CONSUMED by metal for nine. I've got quite a few years of listening and analyzing experience on you boy
You really need to tone this down. There's a fair few people on here who have quite a few years "of listening and analyzing experience" on you as well. Yes Slayer were a huge influence on extreme metal. Yes the first two albums are classic. But to say no-one would remember Venom is ridiculous. They were huge before Metallica or Slayer hit the scene. And there were bands doing Satan before Venom even. I don't even know why we're discussing this. Slayer were a classic band period. They were hugely influential. But so were lots of other bands. |
everyone here who seems to have all this crap against me can go **** themselves, because for one thing, I have never, not one time, down talked the musicianship of ANY music on this forum. I have actually only said positive things about great bands, ie: Slayer, Metallica, Opeth, Morbid Angel, Obituary, Alice In Chains and so on. I have down talked the IMAGE of black metallers because I think it looks absolutely ridiculous, but image and music are separate. So when you people sit there and talk crap about my taste in music, or at least the way I see things, I do feel like defending my convictions. Every time I write something that completely explains how I think about things, all you ever do is come back with "you're stupid" or "learn to use grammar." You can't seem to point out what is wrong with my logic and WHY you think I'm stupid for thinking the way I do, nor can you correct my grammar, which I honestly don't think there's anything wrong with. All of my writing is clear and coherent; the points are made in a way that can be read and understood. Kinda irritates me that I tried to start a new thread about the stuff that I wanted to talk about in a POSITIVE way, and you dorks go to that thread and start talk about "Folk/Viking Metal" when there is a designated thread for that already and because I ask you to not discuss that, the thread ends up being closed. Truthfully though, I don't even know why I'm trying. You're just going to tell me that I'm stupid again; tell me you can't even understand what I'm saying in the "incoherent mess" that Ive written. I'm through with this- I'm gonna go play some bass, and I suggest you practice a bit too so that maybe one day, you'll be able to write songs that are better than the ones you slag me for liking. Have a nice day.

wtf your reading comprehension sucks.

What are you on about? What songs have you been slagged off for liking? Although I'd be glad to start the slagging with Opeth. |

dude, we dont care. just stop posting bullshit that attacks people and start actually discussing bands if you're going to be in here. |
The guys from Ghoul/Impaled are such good riff writers.
ref; opening track on We Came for the Dead. |
Subsonic, you got off to a bad start here. I can tell you could very possibly become a quality poster in this thread, but just learn to tone it down a little bit. Elitism isn't taken to very kindly anywhere on MX....just take a look at Dargon and his troll friends. We understand that Slayer was a big thing back in the day, but I rehash my statement that they still suck balls.
Now learn to accept that people have different opinions from your own and don't bring up the "I KNOW MORE ABOUT METAL THAN U CUZ I'M OLD" **** again, because that simply doesn't swing here...and more importantly it proves jack ****. Back on topic: I know I've said this before, but if there's any posters here that actually still enjoy newer death metal, you need to check out Pitbulls in the Nursery. http://www.myspace.com/pitn The vocals are kinda lacking, but the rest more than makes up for it. Squirrel: I was actually just about to post about how amazing Impaled is, but I tend to do that at least once a week as it is... |
The guys from Ghoul/Impaled are such good riff writers.

They churn out so many brilliant riffs, there's an incredible amount on Death After Life.

NP: Death after Life :p In Gutless, there's like a (real) breakdown for a few seconds and then straight into this fast-as-hell blastfest with a huge layer of synth....and I nearly cream myself every time I hear it |
Yeah i love that part, really relentless.
Opening riff of that song is awesome, as is that part where they use some awesome open string triplets in the chorus [cant really describe it :(] Resurrectionists has an awesome thrashy riff, as does Medical Waste. Holy crap, that part from 0/49 in Mondo Medicale and also the last minute or so [and intro of] the Dead Shall Dead Remain. Omg theyre so riff tastic. |

And omg, best intro song ever on Mondo Medicale (the album). ****ing epic x 10000000, and it leads in perfect to the next song. I just put on Dawn of Possession...and realized it has possibly the worst bass drum sound in the history of mankind. |
And Ghouls debut album, did the guitar tone go through 8 distortion pedals or sth?! man its like an operation without anesthesia, but in aural form.

Which was their debut? I only have We Came For the Dead, which is good, but I can't really get the "feel" of the songs as much as I do with Impaled. |
Thats their first full length I believe. I know how you mean, i cant put my finger on it, althoug Impaled are less manic and ravenous, im more happy to lsiten to them. I think theyre slightly more consistent and fresh - maybe cause Ghoul is just an amalgamation of other bands, kinda.

Less manic? They're certainly less "evil" sounding, but tend to be a lot faster. Maybe it's just the fact that Ghoul seems to have a tad more old-school/thrash influence, which generally isn't something that translates well to me. I'm gonna listen to Exhumed now, as they seem a good replacement for Impaled if anything. |
I dunno, Ghoul have the 3 voices thing [i find it more prominent and distinct than in impaled] and the crossover thrash thing is more evident, they may be slower technically, but they feel more 'balls the wall' aggression :p

What band/album has your favorite kickdrum sound dargon
edit: and do you like ghoul or impaled |
What band/album has your favorite kickdrum sound dargon
Is that a serious question? If it is, I couldn't care less. Actually I do have one album in mind but you kiddies don't deserve to know it. No I don't really like Ghoul or Impaled. Party metal. |
I was joking
Have you heard Impaled cover Repulsion |
although i didn't really like blasphemy's FAOD, blood upon the altar is excellent so i may check Fallen out again.
i know this isn't the right thread but does anyone like running wild?
This isn't the right thread for either of those and you know it. I happen to be something of a fanboy of both those bands so I have a suspicion you're trying to get my approval by posting those bands right where I have to see them. No I have not heard Impaled cover Repulsion. |
Its a decent enough cover, they did Helga lost her head.

No I have not heard Impaled cover Repulsion.
hahah caught me. then i guess you didn't hear when i said i didn't like FAOD, something ive said a long time ago in the bm thread. i know running wild doesn't belong in here, but i actually did think this was the bm thread. :( |
Usually kick drum isn't well implemented into the mix in Death Metal. Usually too focused over other sounds.
|
who gives a flying **** about all that? Give me riffs from beyond the unholy grave and then I don't care if they're banging on a bathtub in the background. I actually have one demo wherein the drums consist of a textbook and a mattress (it's from 1984). Needless to say, it is elite.
|
maudlin of the Well used water as a percussion in an interlude. I think it's #4.
It's not elite at all. |
