Well, you probably know the guy I bought from. Hazelshould. 2009 sales, 100% Feedback.

|
I don't recall them, to be honest, but at that price, it doesn't matter what they are, does it?
|
nah lol, and they arn't a business, it's just one guy who occasionally has a wide variety of great gear for cheap. Look him up from time to time you'll find sweet deals.
Well, I bought a cymbal from eBay.com (Note, not my local eBay) last week. I'm still waiting it's arrival, but I have no fear. If it's not arrived by the end of this week, then I'll be worried.
You're optimistic. It can take up to 6 months for things to ship from the USA unless you payed more than the cymbals worth for it to be air cargo. I would never order a cymbal from abroad unless you had major insurance. |
I'm looking for a crash - maybe a 17", as I have a 16" already - just to add some variety haha.
I play metal music, at gigs, and I'm looking in the Sabian AAX range. But my problem is, I have no idea which one to choose! Either Stage, Studio, AAXplosion or AAX metal (which I hear is the one I should go for). Any ideas/comparisons? |
i wouldnt focus too much on the specific size, but rather the general tone itself.
as for playing live, in your styles, i'd look towards the AA Medium/Rock models. they're a little more versatile than the AAXplosion or Metal series i find. especially in an unmiced environment - the AAXplosions are a bit too fast to get a full tone out when your fighting with loud guitars and such. |
18inch AA medium thin crash would be perfect. those things cut like crazy. I used to have one but i sold it to a friend in need for a good price. they are somewhat versatile.

Just what i was thinking. I own one myself and wouldnt change it for anything else. |
i almost bought a 17" the other day...
|
19" A Custom Crash. I have the 17" and it sounds gorgous... on its own. But it doesnt cut through the 18" Dark K's I have. would the 19 cut it? I loved the 17" sound, not the 18" and I liked the 19" when i tried them. Any advice guys?
|
My 20" cuts pretty nicely.
On a side note, that's rather odd because my 18" Fast Crash cuts well. |
my 18" fast crash cuts too...and i have 18 and 19" aaxplosions.
|
Yeh, my 18 cut fine, but it seems like the 17" A Custom Doesn't have the power maybe the K's have too much power?
|
would 13" hhx groove hat be a good match with hhx studio crashes(16,17,18), i have tried out the hats in the store, but not with my cymbals(they dont have them in stock)
if it helps, i play fusion/rock also is there is slightly less pingy hh raw bell dry ride? |
i was also looking at 13" aax studio hats, but i think they might be a bit bright
|
HHX Groove Hats would be the better choice. I prefer the bigger Studio Crashes 17" and up. If you're into Sabian rides, check out the 21" HH Vintage Ride. They'd match up with the HHX well.
|
I'm finally upgrading from my ZXT Zildgian hi-hats! My current cymbal set-up is those hats, 17 inch medium thin sabian aa crash, 16" AAX Studio Crash, 21" Sabian AA raw bell dry ride, XS20 10" splash. I play lots of jazz and funk grooves and I'm upgrading my hats tomorrow. I was thinking of the Fusion AA hats or the stage/studio hats. I'm looking for a good "chink" like sound. Please help me!
|
I was also thinking of some HHX hats as well. Any suggestion my price range is up to 370 something
|
You're upgrading tomorrow and you dont know what to?
I'd say thats a bit quick. I tend to test cymbals at least 3 times before i buy. But anyway: 14" Sabian HHX Power Hats 14" Sabian AA Flat Hats 13" Zildjian K/Z Dyno Beats 13" Meinl Byzance Fast Hats |
Well not necessarily tomorrow, I would like to but it might not be time yet, your right. I've tested the 13" AA Fusion hats a couple times and the AA Regular hats. I would like to hear how the HHX hats sound. Are they good with grooves?

I would imagine so. Im gonna have to say though, i think the Byzances would be perfect. |
I'll check out the byzances definately. This is kind irrelevant to the topic, however, any recommended hi-hats stands that fall in the price range of 100-150? Mine is about to fall apart:mad:
|
150 what?
Pound? Dollar? Ruble? Yen? |
Oh, dollars. Sorry, thanks a lot for helping me by the way Phil.
|
In that case im not sure, but for about £150 you can get an elim :p
Its no problem. Its what the forums are for. |
I've heard the AA Fusion 13" hats are pretty versatile. I'm going to looking into them more, but I went down and tried out the HHX 13" groove hats and they sound amazing.
|
what are some comprable sabian hihats to paiste signature 13 sound edge or 2002 13 medium?
(maby a little less bright) |
2002 might be something like AA Fusion Hats
Signature is gonna be something from HHX. Why sabian though? Why not just get the paistes? |
