Into The Void is such a bloody great song. Perhaps my favourite.
It's one of my favourites too. Along with Sabbath Bloody Sabbath and Wheels Of Confusion/The Straightener. |
Wheels Of Confusion? Thats one of my favourites too but Ive never heard anyone else mention it as a favourite. Definitely the highlight of Vol. 4.
Yes, it is. Vol. 4 is a great album. I have loved it as soon as I heard it
I didn't actually, I thought it was really boring. It took like three listens for me to like it, I have no idea why.
It's cause you're weird.
Why not? Bill made it up too. I suppose the best way to do it would be to do the same general thing hes doing but in your own way, if that makes sense. It probably doesn't because Im not a drummer.
Yeah thats what i do with every song i learn, i learn the general beat and make my own stuff up. its just that i have heard a version of sympton where bill seems to do a 1 handed snare roll, while hitting 780000 other drums and cymbals at once:p
I didn't actually, I thought it was really boring. Vol. 4 was sort of their descent after their first three flawless albums, still a really good album, but it lacks a bit of the darkness from the earlier albums.
Still one of the top Ozzy records, although its also one of the more produced ones which does not lend itself to the feel of Sabbath. Its fair to say that the less Sabbath messed about in the studio the better the music came out. |
Vol.4 is probably the best Ozzy-era Sabbath album.
possibly. i love all ozzy sabbath albums, but yea, Vol. 4 is a specially great one. favourites off it: Snowblind, Under The Sun. it is THE album to listen to while watching the sunset. Under the Sun owns. the last riff is beautiful, absolutely beautiful. with that solo, it does it all for me.
Sabbath Bloody Sabbath is brilliant I reckon, heavy but more proggy, which I like.
I can still remember the first time I heard Into the Void. That main riff is so amazing.
My favourite part of that song is the solo actually. Its Iommi's best use of overdubbing a second part to the solo imo.
Has anyone here heard the 96' Dep sessions? I was thinking of buying it.
Hmmm, thread has slowed down.
Trivia time!!! How is Electric Light Orchestra connected to Black Sabbath? Who went to which band, what year and what instrument? |
Bev Bevan the drummer from ELO replaced Bill Ward for the Born Again tour (1983), although Bill played on the album. There was even talk of Sabbath covering ELO's Evil Woman on stage but they never did and have even disupted any discussion of it. I hope that answers your question :thumb:
Okay my turn. What band did Tony Iommi play with for two weeks in 1969? And why was he fired? |
beyaach!!!!!!
please explain

He wasn't fired? Then was it a mutual decision between him and Ian Anderson? Because I remember one of the reasons he left was because they didn't want someone that does drugs in their band.

Thats not what I heard. All the sources I've heard said that he thought Anderson was "too weird" for him and he didn't like that Anderson didn't have much of a connection with the band and did things like sat at another table when they were eating lunch and stuff like that. Though if I'm not mistaken he can be heard or seen playing with the band on the Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus. |
And he also apparently wrote one of the songs on Stand Up but it has Martin Barre playing and he didnt even get credited but as far as I know thats just speculation.
Tony Iommi has a big article in this month's Guitar One... ooh and the tab for Paranoid... is it that hard to figure out?
i downloaded Iommi - Fused the other day off a website. haven't listened to any yet, i might listen to some while i'm going to sleep tonight. what should i expect?
You should expect some sort of karmic justice for illegally downloading it :thumb:
Well its dying again. What do you think is the hardest sabbath song to learn on an instrument?
Rat Salad and Symptom sound freakishly difficult to learn on drums.
I agree on Symptom but unfortunately I havnt heard Rat Salad.
I own the first six Sabbath albums along with the cumback "Heaven and Hell". Are "Technical Ecstasy" and "Never Say Die" recommended? Are there any other releases that I would be wise to get?
Master Of Reality is certainly worth getting. Into The Void is one of my favourite Sabbath tracks.
Oops I don't know how I said that. I meant "Technical Ecstasy". I own Master of reality.
