Great song. DSOT gets really underlooked. A couple of the songs from AMLOR aren't too great, but the 2nd disc with performances of all classics is ace.
I actually like some of AMLOR songs on it. Dogs of War is ten times better than the album version, and On the Turning Away (already my favorite song on the album) blows me away everytime I hear/see it. Sorrow is good, too. Besides the cool drum solo at the Learning to Fly, the rest isn't too great, though (the AMLOR songs, that is.)
DSOTM - Darkside of the Moon
DSOT - Delicate Sound of Thunder
AMOLR - A Momentary Lapse of Reason
WYWH - Wish You Were Here
PATGOD - The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn
SOS - Saucerful of Secrets
AHM - Atom Heart Mother
OBC - Obscured By Clouds
TFC - The Final Cut

SOCYD - Shine On You Crazy Diamond
ABITW - Another Brick In The Wall
I love the live version of On the Turning Away. One of the most beautful songs ever and one of Gilmour's best I think. Sorrow and Learning to Fly are both awesome too. I don't really like either version of Dogs of War or Ye Another Movie but I prefer the live versions.

We use abbreviations around these parts. You might want to get used to it. We're lazy.

On the turning way is incredible. I got the best feeling's listening to that song. and for the longest time I didn't know what album it was on so I could never listen to it.

Learning To Fly is my favourite later-era song, especially on DSOT.

Anyone have PATGOD or Umma Gumma to upload? I can trade for it. I picked up Umma Gumma on Vinyl today.
I have to say live version of SOYCD or Coming Back To Life(also live)

damn those solo's are great
The best experiences I've had with listening to SOYCD (both parts) is well in the summer I usually stay up till around 6:30 in the morning, and I love putting on my cd player and watching the sunrise to SOYCD its great.

My Pink Floyd bootlegs came today, they are great. One of the cds is compleatly Syd and it has a bunch of unrealesed (sp?) songs on it, most of whitch I had, though the shocker came when I saw Syd solo tracks preformed by him live. The sound quality sucks, though it picks up fine for Octopus, but this is defenetly the most rare Floyd item I own on cd.

Hmm...that's interesting. I've never even remotely associated SOYCD with the sunrise. I always think of some run down city at night.

Those bootlegs sound sweet by the way, feel free to upload them. :thumb:

I wish I could but for some reason my computer won't let me.

Yeah I never associated with sunrise either, but I was just up listening to the Wish You Were Here album and looking out the window and half way through Shine On I said to myself, this is awsome.

BigTrav415 01-09-2006 08:11 PM

I still think that some of my best memories are listening through all of Wish You Were Here ad nauseum as we swerved through the beautiful North Carolina Appalachian mountains on our class trip. Who needs drugs when you've got good music and nature.

Especially Pink Floyd

That's funny one of my favorite memories is driving through the Rocky mountains
listening to The wall

MidnightRider 01-09-2006 08:27 PM

I've never listened to Floyd in the mountains. Last Time I went to the Smokies I brought out John Denver and Opeth.
You want one of the biggest emotional feelings listening to a Floyd song? Is There Anybody Out There, headphones, in bed, dark room. When that acoustic riff hits, with the waves and the violin in the background, man. Bliss.
That's one of my favorite songs ever. I played it with my friend (he played cello, I played guitar) a little while back, it was so much fun. I wish I'd recorded it.

TheDMV 01-10-2006 04:22 PM

I'll always love the time I was with some friends from Scouts ansd we were driving down to the Anapolis football stadium for a Navy game with DSOTM on. I'd never listened to it all the way through And once GGItS came on, UH! I was just amazed at the quality of the music.

That's awesome. Do you live near Annapolis?

I remember the first time I ever heard DSOTM. I'd like to say I was blown away by it, but I didn't like it at first. Except Time. I liked that from the beginning.

In a sense. I'm on the east coast, Chester Pennsylvania to be exact.

Time has always been one of my favorites along with Brain Damage. My dad was getting me into CR and he mentioned DSOTM, so I downloaded Brain Damage, under the title DSOTM although. I was real into CR after that.

The first time I heard DSOTM, I only liked Time, Us and Them, and Brain Damage. I hated Great Gig in the Sky. That hate actually lasted for like 2 months, even after DSOTM had really grown on me and Pink Floyd had become one of my favorite bands. I love it now though.

DeusExMachina 01-10-2006 04:45 PM

Time used to be my favorite on DSOTM, but now it's probably Us and Them.

Delta_King 01-10-2006 05:35 PM

Where I live Money is the most popular song by PF, and pretty much the only known song,DSOTM is the only PF album to most here.

Yeah I never really liked Dark Side of the Moon till I got a good live version of it.

BigTrav415 01-10-2006 07:42 PM

Lucifer Sam is an awesome song. For some reason I always write little things on the walls and desks at my school, like "That cat's something I can't explain". Actually, today on my Algebra II desk, someone had writ "Society is a loaded weapon", and below it I writ "Happiness is a warm gun"

I think this calls for a quality "GO NAP!".

Ok, I'm out. Sorry about that.

Kingofdudes 01-10-2006 08:22 PM

No AMLOR love for "One Slip"? :-(

I really like that song.

MidnightRider 01-10-2006 08:39 PM

I didn't like DSOTM too much when I first got it, my dad bought it for me. I listened only to Us and Them for months, before I realized how good Time was.

pigonthewing82 01-10-2006 08:45 PM

I don't really like Money that much off the album for some reason, but I love it live. The way the guitar solo is constructed leaves it open for a lot of really good jamming and fills. Some of Pink Floyds best jams are on live bootlegs I have of them doing it

Bazarov 01-10-2006 08:45 PM

Time is my favorite song on DSotM. But anyways, I got Meddle today, and I just can't stop listening to Fearless. This is a very good album.

MidnightRider 01-10-2006 09:01 PM

My favorite song on Meddle is A Pillow of Winds, I always listen to it at night before I go to bed. Great imagery.

I really want Meddle. I'm hopefully going to get all PF albums if I can muster up the cash though.

BigTrav415 01-10-2006 09:07 PM

All of Meddle is great, Seamus is not a bad song to me. I just wish they had cut back on some of the dog barking. It's good in moderation, but it just a little too much in the song. Fearless and A Pillow Of Winds has some of the best slide guitar ever, and both are amazing songs. Fearless has such good lyrics, if I could choose one song to use as my senior quote, I think it would be Fearless.

Yeah, when I listened to first I skipped because of the dog, but I've already given it a second chance, and it's alright.

Once a couple years ago there was this girl I was in love with and "Our song" was sweet child o mine and I listened to it every night for like a whole year

Hey Britton, your usertitle doesn't make sense without the avatar.

Well, I'm almost done with Fahrenheit 451. What an amazing book. Just thought I'd mention that.
