Has anyone listened to Muinty on the bay i've heard it has really bad sound quality is the correct or false?

Brain Toad 09-10-2005 11:00 PM
does anyone listen to the Melvins, Jello's other band?
Melvins as their own band are quite good if you like 'stoner rock'. In related news, Jello and Melvins will be releasing a second album which is a first for a side project he replaces the lead singer for and the second side project he's released mutiple albums with (Lard being the other). Although he did put out an EP with Mojo Nixon before the full album....
Has anyone listened to Muinty on the bay i've heard it has really bad sound quality is the correct or false?
I wouldn't say sound quality is poor, it is a live show so it's not going to be perfect, but I don't think it's a good showcasing of their live talent, I prefer their other live shows that are on bootlegs.

FightDaPowa! 09-10-2005 11:20 PM

Jello is the man. He is one of my heroes. a legend. Dead Kennedys are an absolute favorite. If you dont like em...there is no hope for you. you are a terminal jackass.

Good job. Lots of words. words are good. haha.

OMFG! Hahaha.

shamed-angel 09-11-2005 11:00 AM
HAhahah, it's not his other band. Just a band he sang some songs with, like Nomeansno.
I fucking love NoMeansNo. They are amazing. Still inferior to the Kennedy's in my opinion.

yeah, well. what DK have you heard?

Brain Toad 09-11-2005 12:02 PM

Jello Biafra and the Melvins second album came out Friday I have just heard. Read the page on AT it sounds like a great album and includes a reworked cover of California Uber Alles, entitled Kalifornia Uber Alles sung by the governator himself. The album is called Sieg Howdy. Haven't found it on soulseek yet.

I just updated the profile a little bit and fixed some of my spellings that I should've mixed orginally.

Maverick_Special 09-12-2005 12:38 PM

I have just recently gotten into Dk and I love them...I am pissed I didn't get into them earlier.

sketchyjoe 09-12-2005 03:41 PM
It's about the Twinkie defense story. Dan White, a former San Francisco supervisor went in to City Hall and shot and killed Harvey Milk, the first openly gay city supervisor in San Francisco, and the mayor of San Francisco, George Moscone ("I blew George & Harvey's brains out with my six-gun"). He killed the mayor first then he went down the city supervisors offices, passing by Diane Feinstein (later mayor of SF, Jello's opponet in the 79 election, now senator of CA) on to find Harvey Milk and shoot and kill him too. When tried his attorneys used the defense that White's depression that lead to the assassination was because of him eating Twinkies ("Twinkies are the best friend I've ever had")

Other lines in the song are general police corruption stuff.
The defence was that him eating so many Twinkies was proof that he was clinically depressed rather than the casue but it's still an idiotic defence.

guns_of_brixton 09-13-2005 05:11 PM

Once I had a lover. I knew her for-a-quite-a while. She seemed alright to me.

guns_of_brixton 09-13-2005 07:29 PM

Brain Toad 09-13-2005 08:24 PM

The new Jello Biafra and Melvins album doesnt acutally come out until 09/27. For some reason AT is already selling some, maybe just preorders and its worded weird on the site. But anyway, it's an album to look forward to.

Let's Chop Cats! 09-13-2005 08:25 PM

The closest they are playing here is Philly. I want to go, but none of my friends would come except one, but he is up in Vermont.

Maverick_Special 09-14-2005 10:20 AM

I asked this question in another thread but this is probably the one I should ask it in...Why did DK break up? I just recently got into them and therefore do not know a lot about their history. Is their any chance that they'll reunite? Just wondering and please don't hate me for being uninformed...

I think they'd just had enough of each other.

And there is no chance they'll reunite.

(r)evolution 09-14-2005 02:28 PM

their new singer is simply... terrible.

guns_of_brixton 09-14-2005 02:32 PM

Some guy who's seen the new DK posted in here that he isn't that bad.

Theramed 09-14-2005 02:32 PM

whats the DK song thats got jello saying "thats too slow"?

guns_of_brixton 09-14-2005 02:38 PM

Dog Bite, at the beggining maybe.

Thanks for clearing that up, and that's too bad...

Brain Toad 09-14-2005 11:28 PM
whats the DK song thats got jello saying "thats too slow"?
It's Dog Bite, Sean was right.

And to Maverick. DK orginally broke up with the same reasons many bands break up, they got tired of each other and had some differences. Plus after the Frankenchrist trial they were all pretty bummed on music. Then shortly after the breakup came the whole Jello stole royalities and the band tried to sell songs to corporations drama that killed chances of them reuniting. If that had never happened, they'd probably be playing a reunion tour right now and maybe releasing an album about Bush, WTO, War in Iraq, etc.

Never heard of it and have no source pointing to it. There is an album out called Jello Biafra with Plainfield which actually isn't Jello and it's just a big hoax.

wow. I just heard a 30 second clip of the song and it turns out to be a parody of some geto boys song called "Da'mn it feels good to be a gangsta' except he switches the words "gangsta" nigga" and "pranksta" with "yuppie".......hmmm that doesn't sound very biafra-ie

Google to the rescue

Description of Yuppie Pricks
Not even Ronald Reagan's death could exterminate the tenacious 80s yuppie, who now seeks to exploit our precious punk heritage in the form of THE YUPPIE PRICKS from Austin, TX. Core members boast an impressively depressing resume of professional qualifications including divorce law, stock trading, and running a pharmaceutical company. High 80s literature like Bright Lights, Big City and American Psycho gave us a glimpse of the decadent, narcissistic yuppie lifestyle, but Broker's Banquet rubs our lower tax-bracket noses in mountains of cocaine and Wolfgang Puck pizzas. THE YUPPIE PRICKS' first album was an exclusive affair sold only on Wall Street and in country clubs: rumor has it that they bribed Biafra to release Broker's Banquet to get street cred. Sonically speaking, these PRICKS probably had a crash course in punk rock by listening to the DKs Give Me Convenience or Give Me Death on CD as they drove around in their Range Rovers, then somehow got a whiff of the NEW BOMB TURKS and FLESHIES. Gordon Gecko immortalized the 80s "Greed is Good" philosophy and G. W. Bush applied his yuppie shenaniganism to the American Presidency, but it took the Yuppie Pricks to collide this carnivorous mentality with punk. Recommended for fans of the UPPER CRUST!

They released their album on AT, Jello's label as you know.

And here is something after the info
THE YUPPIE PRICKS somehow tricked anti-yuppie pundit Jello Biafra into a guest appearance on the GETO BOYS parody "**** It Feels Good to Be a Yuppie."

So what you have is/ Jello.

Mild_child 09-15-2005 03:32 PM

wow, actually, after seeing their website, these dudes really are yuppies.
