Did anyone else find Steal This Album quite dissappointing?
hell yes

Huber 07-03-2005 05:07 PM

I like Steal This Album a lot, but it is the weakest album they have.

Mother_Of_Abominations 07-03-2005 05:24 PM

System Of A Down is a really great band, but with 3-4 albums all anti-political, it's annoying. It was awesome at first, with government defying music, like RATM. But they got too caught up into the gimmick and yeah, over did it.

Sounded really great! I loved your tone :thumb:
I thought the trill notes didnt sound to good though I dont know what it is about them.

Whats with the little solos at 2.00 and 3.00 Im pretty sure there not on the original

It'd be great to have you onboard with a tone like that :D

I haven't got a clue, for some reason they were on the backing track:lol:

Glad you liked it:)
yeah thats what I think.
yeah, thats what i think too. but you know what, theyre still good, and even Mezmerize wasnt as good as i thought it would be, but i know Hypnotize is gonna b way better. so maybe thats why they did it, so we can all wait for the better stuff later on.

Spiritofmosa 07-04-2005 08:38 PM

does anyone have system of a down - X?

Mambuto_O'Mally 07-04-2005 09:09 PM

^^^
Why????????????

AIC/EAZY-E 07-04-2005 10:15 PM

Can anyone get it through their heads that Steal This Album wasn't an official release and an album of all new material? It didn't have months of thought or preparation, most are old demos and songs left off of Toxicity, just re-recorded. You can't really judge it on an album basis as it's more of a compilation than anything. You should judge it more on the single songs that are included, and with such career highlights as Innervision, Boom, Chic 'N Stu, Roulette, Mr. Jack, Ego Brain, Streamline..it definitely isn't a dissapointment in my eyes.

Ok, It IS an official release and the band credit it as so.

The songs that werent used on toxicity got leaked and SOAD didnt like unfinished versions of there songs being listened to so they re-recorded them and released them as STA

A few facts you might not know:

1, There where only 2 new songs on the album: Ego Brain And Roulette
2, However, Roulette was infact one of the first SOAD songs ever written.
3, 2 other leaked songs from Toxicity werent re-recorded: Forever And Virginity.

I know too much :thumb: ...

They probably put roughly the same amount of effort into writing the songs originally, in my mind its just another album.

just search for system of a down like someone said above or search Toxicity in the album section

Mambuto_O'Mally 07-05-2005 09:51 PM

SOAD is coming to my turf, or Winnipeg for those people that don't know me. Anyway tickets are $40 for nosebleed seats. It's outrageous. I love SOAD and TMV but $40, I mean come on. I even work and I can't really afford that. Now if it was RATM or Audioslave, that's a different story.

paper2302 07-05-2005 09:56 PM

If you want some System of a Down songs, buy them from a record store, such as: FYE-Hastings-Walmart-Kmart-Target

Do you have to download them?

RockRevival 07-06-2005 12:20 AM

Walmart Kmart and Target are record stores?

Ha.

AIC/EAZY-E 07-06-2005 12:24 AM

So, Serj just got rejected in his idea to buy land and settle in the mid-term here in New Zealand. Bloody Maoris, their pride and tangata whenua and all that. All those 'true' Maoris are way too far up their asses and living in the past. We went to Gisborne one week, and they wouldn't let us down this one road since it was sacred land. I seriously lost all respect for NZ's indiginous race at that point. Serj was planning to scout unknown NZ talent, and reccommend them to US labels. This just makes me hate Maoris and the International Affairs people SO much more. He could've finally been the break that NZ needs, as there is quite a number of excellent bands not getting enough recognition around here, and that will probably never break out from being only recognized locally.

Spiritofmosa 07-06-2005 12:46 AM

i love steal this album..

AntiHero26 07-06-2005 12:55 AM

Isnt SOAD not comming back to the USA because they hate Bush? (thats what I heard)

Aberrationbass 07-06-2005 02:37 AM

you have to give respect Mauris but i think they are taking it abit to far not letting you drive down the road.........
i've heard some NZ bands (im not from NZ) off a cd called something like "trapped on the island" and i wasn't really that impressed...........but i haven't heard all of them so who am i to speak..........

Skit 07-06-2005 03:15 AM
Isnt SOAD not comming back to the USA because they hate Bush? (thats what I heard)
Na, There touring the US (Either now or in the near future) :thumb:

FrailandBedazzled1979 07-06-2005 03:29 AM

i dont like SOAD but you have to admit they write some catchy and creative songs, but i couldnt listen to them by choice. at least in a pool of unoriginal bands they are unique and have their own voice. Ther drummer is easily the bands talent.

Skit 07-06-2005 03:30 AM

I agree, John (drums) is clearly the most talented musician in the band along with Serj (vocals)

cacophonyz 07-06-2005 03:53 AM

Yeah they aren't my favorite band,or even anywhere near it,but compared to most radio-mainstream bands these days they are the pick of the litter. My friend got their new cd and has been listening to it constantly, and I don't know the name of it but track 9 on there I really like.

Follow The Reaper 07-06-2005 03:59 AM

THey would never miss out on a chance to get money. They would lose a lot of fans as well as money from tickets if they didn't.

Sad Statue?
Sad Statue?
Most likely the one,as I remember the chorus talking about the statue of liberty.

Spiritofmosa 07-06-2005 04:31 AM

yeah sad statue is a good song, i like it too

Who's Mauris? Or was it just a funny typo.
Anyway, an example of a GREAT NZ band is Shihad, who were also known as Pacifier. They seriously have so many top quality songs. 8 Foot Sativa are also worthy of mention, they have come into their own as of late.

xrockerachickx 07-06-2005 02:19 PM
yeah sad statue is a good song, i like it too
sad statue was for me one of the greatest songs in the album, along with question, and well cigaro and byob... the rest r not really what i espected, but still kool up to a certain point. :naughty:
does anyone know where i cn download some Hypnotize tracks???

Drugstep 07-06-2005 02:30 PM

I love the whole damn disc, but Sad Statue, This Cocaine, and Violent Pornography are my favorties.
THey would never miss out on a chance to get money. They would lose a lot of fans as well as money from tickets if they didn't.
Yeah, but if they did that, I would go out and buy another 4 of 'Mezmerize' and a whole stack of 'Hypnotize' when it comes out. I would also then buy tickets to the show, whatever the price would be.

Mr. Hankie 07-06-2005 03:23 PM

Mezmerize is their worst album so far.

1. Toxicity
2. STA
3. S/T
4. Mezmerize

mudvayne420 07-06-2005 04:06 PM

it's hard for me to decide which albums their worst but i have to say STA because Mezmerize and Toxicity are tied to me. also, on mezmerize, i have to say my fav. song is Question and my least fav. is Old school hollywood. but my fav SOAD song is P.L.U.C.K

TheSubtleArts 07-06-2005 04:38 PM

S/T is my favoriteof thier albums, but i love all SOAD stuff. i like heavier music more so id go with S/T as my favorite.
