good stuff rush in rio is. Would have been kickass if they played all of 2112 instead of just Syrinx though

Distant Echoes 09-04-2005 05:49 PM

well that is the best part, except the solo in presentation. Grand Finale isnt even that great for anything called 'the grand finale'. Drum heavy, and a good part, but I expected more from it since the whole song built up to it.

Even in the early 80s they didnt do the whole song. A major portion, yes, but They may have right after the album came out. Their previous three weren't jam packed with hits themself...

I watched that for the first time today.

My dad had it for a while as a birthday present, but we never had the time to watch it.

:amaze: It's really good! :thumb:

Well my fav part of the song is when the guy presents the guitar to the priests

but I could see why they didn't play it

thunderzstruck 09-04-2005 07:17 PM

hey, when you get a 3 hour concert, I dont think the extra 15 minutes of 2112 will matter much the the people in rio :p

I cant wait to go to their show, The most id be willing to pay is $150, which shouldnt be a problem, but they hit you hard. The one this years cheapest tix were $80, and i wasnt employeed at the time - but it rained the during the whole thing so whatever.

Oh, I wouldn't care if they played all of 2112 or not, I just thought it would be pretty cool if they did.

I hope their tickets are decently priced, i hope they even TOUR again! I only became a Rush fan about a year and half ago so when I was just getting into them their last tour had just passed by here :(

Distant Echoes 09-04-2005 07:44 PM

alot of my recent fav bands just passed too...

Dont expect tix to be decently priced. I dont remember very clear, but crap grass tickets were expensive last time around, which i believe may have possibly been $80. Unless you have a job, you will need to save a few weeks prior to purchasing.

Best **** show youll ever see though :thumb:
That is, until the Rolling Stones return!!!!!!!!111oneone
(/has stones tix)
On the matter of Saskatchewan: I've nothing against them. Well, except their football team. Their team song, is the funniest thing I've ever heard.
thunderzstruck 09-04-2005 07:46 PM

Yeah, I will save up for a while before. Anyways my dad is a Rush fan and his friends are HUGE fans. They offered to take me next time, so my dad will help me pay He'll understand.

How much were the Stones tickets?

Distant Echoes 09-04-2005 07:54 PM

I got some mid section side tix for $110 each on ebay, which was a great deal. most average about $300 for crappy old seats.

Box seats are selling for over $2000

Pierre Trudeau 09-04-2005 07:55 PM

Is this canadian money I'm hearing about? $110 is steep.

Distant Echoes 09-04-2005 07:57 PM

nope, american.

Pierre Trudeau 09-04-2005 07:58 PM

Oh, even steeper. :(

thunderzstruck 09-04-2005 08:00 PM

Distant Echoes 09-04-2005 08:15 PM

I couldnt find a set list, but ill look a little longer. Heres some more good news i ran into though...
RUSH: No less than four Rush DVDs are currently in the works. The first of the batch will be R30, recorded during the 30th Anniversary Tour last year in Europe. Unofficially, the R30 DVD is expected to be released on October 15th.
During the course of 2006 three more DVDs will see the light of day: Exit Stage Left, Grace Under Pressure and A Show Of Hands.

As for the new studio album, Cygnus-X1.net has the following:
WDHA-FM (105.5), New Jersey's Rock station reported on the air today that, according to front-man Geddy Lee, he was ready to begin work on the next Rush album in the fall of this year. Citing 2005 as a 'family year', he was hoping to get bored enough over the summer in preparation for the rigors of recording a new album. He also stated that he hoped to begin the new disc sometime 'after the [baseball] World Series'
YDload 09-04-2005 08:38 PM

Is "Crossroads" the traditional blue song made famous by Cream, or is it an original Rush song?

thunderzstruck 09-04-2005 08:40 PM

Well didn't they do a blue/classic rock cover album like a year back? So I bet it's the Clapton song, especially since I have not heard of a Rush song of the same name

Distant Echoes 09-04-2005 08:40 PM

Cream made it popular, but they also covered it off a very famous blues musician (sopposedly invented blues), but goddam i can not think of his name right now...embarressing. But i out you on the right track to find out.

Rush does a good cover of it. Better then solo Clapton's IMO (since he does it all clean, slow and bluesy).

Xanadu 09-04-2005 09:42 PM

did anyone else around here unlock the bonus fearures on rush in rio?
did anyone else around here unlock the bonus fearures on rush in rio?
I saw the Bytor video, but the Anthem thing has eluded me.

Xanadu 09-04-2005 11:16 PM

i like the anthem thing i find it kinda humorus

Hep Kat 09-05-2005 07:58 AM

humorous eh? i should see it

Distant Echoes 09-05-2005 02:56 PM
I saw the Bytor video, but the Anthem thing has eluded me.
I got how to do it online, since i couldnt figure it out. One disc two, select the second video, and when it plays, just go back to the menu. Do it again with the first video and go back. Then again with the first video and go back, and one more time to the second video and go to the menu (youve selected 2-1-1-2. how original.) Then you can see it.

It a really old school clip, sort of like the one of Led Zeps communication breakdown on the Early/latter days cd. Worth watching though, and a bit humorous.

Jean Chrétien 09-05-2005 04:23 PM

im a new poster, but i must say tom saywer is not their best song, they have better ones, thats just my opnion :chug:

thank you :(

Hep Kat 09-05-2005 05:09 PM

if you wanna get into best songs well than freewill wins hands down....BUT they have about 90 or so good songs

Distant Echoes 09-05-2005 05:43 PM

Freewill maybe their most talented or well developed songs, just about as difficult for any instrument in that song to play; but I represent how varying opinions can be when i say Distant Early Warning is easily my favorite. Simple, Not fun to play, but every time i hear it I cant get over how incredible it is.

thunderzstruck 09-05-2005 07:32 PM

Tom Sawyer isn't their best song, but its a very solid song

The Spirit of Radio is :p

2112 > The Spirit of Radio

Than again, that's not really fair.

Xanadu 09-06-2005 08:05 AM

most of them are good except for a select few like limbo, lock and key, mystic rythem i dont like any them there r more that i dont like but i cant think of em cause i dont really listen to those often.

Hep Kat 09-06-2005 08:09 AM

hey xanadu i thought u loved all rush unconditinally?
