Shhhh! Don't let the Amazon secret leak!

I don't have a usable credit card at the moment though, that's like the whole root of the problem. Making me get out of the computer chair and going to the music store...stupid plastic...
Haha, don't worry, I'm careful about who I tell, but I remembered we had talked about it before in the Tool thread anyway.

I'll be at the music store tommorow as well, looking for some stupid plastic (hopefully Team Sleep and Porcupine Tree)

i've only heard the hand that feeds

Kage 05-10-2005 08:03 AM

Well, you haven't heard much in that case.

Nine Inch Nails performing at the MTV movie awards! I usually don't like watching the movie awards but this time there's a good reason to do so. I just saw that extended interview they have on the site as well. He talks about the failed projects with MJK and Zack from RATM...It's interesting.

I've always wanted to know more about the thing he did with Zack De La Rocha. They were in a studio right around the time that Johnny Cash died, but nothing ever came out of it.

Yeah, I found it by the time you responded :p
For some reason I can't play any videos on that site, I install the plug in. It still won't work though. Its been that way for awhile.

Sooo what were the highlights of the video?

BlindWriting 05-10-2005 09:02 PM

Yeah, I just read that article "The Upward Spiral". Very interesting stuff. Not only do I see a lot of the lyrical connections to With Teeth (which in turn makes me appreciate the writing a lot more), but I definitely did not know that he OD'd on heroin. I find it hard to believe that he finds himself disappointed with The Fragile. It was easily my favorite of his records.

Are you by any chance using firefox or anything else? 'Cause if you are then that's probably the problem. I couldn't get it to work on mine either so I had to open it with Explorere (which I hate). Anyway, if you can't get the video, there's an interview posted on the site which pretty much sums it up...

vecter1212 05-10-2005 09:13 PM

I like "with teeth" ALOT.

Trent is much more mature now and more unrestricted. "Right where it belongs" is magnificent imo, obviously not NIN style but so what, there really are no rules that says is has to sound like anything before it. He is clean and sober now after years of partying, and I really like this album. Heroin and drugs almost killed him, and he hints at love for the first time ever. ( basicially he says, "Ill hide it behind something you would never look behind") imo it refers to his heart and love. Times change, attitudes change, and I like the direction of Trent/NIN.

Thanks.

"Along with the 13 tracks on With Teeth, the sessions yielded at least seven more songs Reznor hopes to eventually release. And since wrapping the album, he's already been writing the next one. "I haven't interrupted the writing process this time, and I feel energized," he says. "

I wonder if he is thinking of releasing those seven songs before the next album or as part of the next album...

*thinks about the mysterious lyrics on the "With Teeth" page and the mysterious "master plan" he keeps mentioning*....

Hmm... :amaze: ...and well, at the bottom of the "With Teeth" page it says..."check this page for more content in the coming days"...Heh, I'm just curious to know whats going on (if anything).

Magicaltroll 05-10-2005 09:39 PM

Well, if anyone finds anything out, tell us!

:thumb:

Kage 05-10-2005 09:41 PM

Perhaps there's no master plan, and he's scrambling to find something to do quick.

Magicaltroll 05-10-2005 09:42 PM

Probably...

I really hope its new songs... That'd be cool.

Kage 05-10-2005 09:49 PM

Trent is at a point in his carreer hwere he could literally get away with murder. Perhaps he released With Teeth as a bait album--somethign to hold us off and keep us interested for the time being until the real release was to come about. Now, with so much new material dangling in front of us, we drool for more and we never lose interest in his NIN project.

To cover for this, he booked a huge US tour in small venues, not to, as he claims, gauge the popularity of NIN (which would take a very thick skull not to realize that NIN still has a massive loyal fanbase), but to take the attention away from the fact that no matter what he releases, it'll be treated as god's gift to music by his fans. Meanwhile, he plans to execute his "master plan," but managed to buy himself some more time in cleverly sinister plan.

Magicaltroll 05-10-2005 10:36 PM

Genius!
Kinda confusing though.. haha

misunderstood 05-10-2005 10:37 PM

^^ Yeah, it is kinda confusing...I had to read that post twice to understand what he was saying. It all makes sense now though.

Kage 05-10-2005 10:42 PM

 You of course realize it's a load of garbage?

Magicaltroll 05-10-2005 10:45 PM
 You of course realize it's a load of garbage?
Yeah haha
It was still pretty funny though

Kage 05-10-2005 10:49 PM

I'm still suspicious of the fact that he supposedly "didn't realize" that NIN had a huge fan base.

misunderstood 05-10-2005 10:50 PM

heh, thats funny because after i read the post for the second time to myself..i read it outloud to my roommate and she looked at me rather weirdly...and i told her.."ha, this has to be some sort of joke"... :p

Anyway, you really did get my brain to think for a minute there.. :thumb: ..not just anyone can do that with me..hahaha.

- I don't think it was that, so much as he doesn't have a "rockstar ego", ya know what I mean?

6 years is a long time man. Sure I think T-rez is one of the most brilliant musicians the world has seen in a long time, but I doubt he sees himself that way. 90% of the bands out there could NOT just disappear from the public for almost a decade and just comeback and sell out shows the way NIN has.

I think for the most part Trent knows this, and he didn't want to "expect to much" from his fans.

I'm gald we proved him wrong! :)

ATM 05-11-2005 01:48 AM

What are NIN like live? Anybody been?

misunderstood 05-11-2005 01:54 AM

Not yet...May 25th is just around the corner though! I've read some really good reviews about the current tour though. I've seen their live DVD many times as well and it's just pretty amazing...Seems like they put on one hell of a show.

ATM 05-11-2005 01:57 AM

I'll definantly go if they make a stop in Maryland.

Heh..You're right. The guy is pretty humble. It is actually amazing, how loyal and strong a fanbase he has, really. Anyway, all I can hope for is that there'll be some reletively cheap scalped tickets at the door when I get to the show. :-\

Magicaltroll 05-11-2005 08:42 PM

Well, I know Trent still has it (like the one guy said) because I got like 2 bootlegged shows, and they're awesome.

I wanna go see them live so bad...

Oh, and by the way, "With Teeth" is No.1 on the charts! :thumb:

Yeah, no kidding. The band (probably mostly Trent) must feel pretty d@mn good.

I believe "The Fragile was No.1 also. I think TDS made it to No.2 only...which is still not bad.

Mabelobe 05-12-2005 02:45 PM

Im pretty sure TDS hit number 1 atleast once.....it had Closer as its SINGLE....everyone was obsessed with that song the second they heard it...

12Rounds 05-14-2005 08:35 AM

NIN is incredible live, just saw them the 10th in Toronto, ****ing spectacular.

Trent landed on me when he jumped off the stage in Piggy.

Awesome setlist.

misunderstood 05-14-2005 10:40 AM

^^Yeah, I read reviews to that show. Looks like it was indeed an awesome show. Most of the reviews i've been reading have been REALLY good and the setlist keeps chaning everytime. I can't wait for May 25th. It's almost here!
