It's all about knowing random distros or labels.
So you can't find any of the bands mentioned in this thread on the internet? No music or anything?

Check the level-plane website.

This has become my favorite thread.

I heard someone call the Blood Brothers 'spazzcore' which I thought suited them very well, but I doubt that's an actual genre...

cbmartinez 01-16-2005 11:23 AM

Number Twelve is more of a grind/metal band.

fenderstratboy2 01-16-2005 11:40 AM

Underoath is my favorite right now

cbmartinez 01-16-2005 11:59 AM

They are not emo or screamo. Read the first page.

tornpictures 01-16-2005 02:49 PM

We love Uncle Kracker!!

A Year and An Ocean 01-16-2005 05:02 PM
Haha, have you heard "The Death of an Aspiring Icon" by The Khayembii Communique?
Sorry for the delay, just got back from a weekend at a friends house with next to zero use of a computer. Yes I have, off of their split with the Vidablue. GREAT record in general.

cbmartinez 01-16-2005 05:23 PM
cb will you please IM me so we can coordinate this review business.
Sorry, will do as soon as possible. I don't get on AIM much.

shane italian 01-16-2005 05:28 PM

So I popped in Song of Zarathustra for the first time in a while the other day...and I haven't taken it out since :p

cbmartinez 01-16-2005 05:31 PM

They are so good.

A Year and An Ocean 01-16-2005 06:02 PM

Song of Zarathustra is indeed amazing. :)

BuddyBigsby 01-17-2005 01:49 AM

I remember when Shane used to be all about the emo, but he's too tuff for us now.

Sep 01-17-2005 01:57 AM

What's the deal with the new Hopesfall CD? It sounds nothing like the Sattelite Years. Did they get a new singer or something?

/realized Hopesfall are not emo or screamo
/leaves

BuddyBigsby 01-17-2005 01:59 AM

They found their sound. They have the same singer.

Sep 01-17-2005 02:01 AM
They found their sound. They have the same singer.
Do you like their new album?

I like the songs they have on Purevolume.

BuddyBigsby 01-17-2005 02:15 AM

I love it, I think its way beyond The Satellite Years, maybe even The Frailty of Words.

Not as good as the s/t 7".

pixiesfanyo 01-17-2005 07:40 AM

The Plot to Blow Up the Eiffel Tower would be Screamo right?

tornpictures 01-17-2005 07:50 AM

The Plot are:

one cup early San Diego hardcore a la Swing Kids, two tablespoons of mod-ish screamy punk (Nation of Ulysses), a dash of jazz and a whole lotta sass!

capri sun junkie 01-17-2005 08:00 AM

Torn, do you know how many Struggle releases there have been?

tornpictures 01-17-2005 09:24 AM

Four, I believe.

Lp on Ebullition
7" on Ebullition
Track on the 'Give me Back' comp on Ebullition
Split 7" with Undertow which was self-released
Discography CD on Ebullition.

tornpictures 01-17-2005 09:24 AM

Uhh, five.
I love it, I think its way beyond The Satellite Years, maybe even The Frailty of Words.
Yeah, I hated it at first, but now I'm in love with it. I think I may have to even agree on that better than The Satellite Years comment.

Agreed. They didn't release enough.

A Year and An Ocean 01-17-2005 06:17 PM

I just got out Broke Up by 1.6 Band for the first time in months. Every time I listen to this I get a bit angrier.
I love it, I think its way beyond The Satellite Years, maybe even The Frailty of Words.
i'm surprised to see that. to me, the frailty of words, no wings to speak of, and the satellite years are so much better than a types. but the frailty of words is by far the best to me.

Ganondorf 01-18-2005 12:39 AM

Hey guys, what genre would you say Funeral for a Friend are?

srt-4 01-18-2005 03:24 AM
Well, that's just like...your opinion, man.
i know. that's why i said "to me." its just surprising that the underoath guys are sell-outs for getting softer, but hopesfall just "found their sound." not that i'm saying hopesfall sold out, i don't think they did, but i don't think underoath did either.

srt-4 01-18-2005 03:29 AM
Hey guys, what genre would you say Funeral for a Friend are?
well, they say they are Post Hardcore / Metal. so take that for what you will.

tornpictures 01-18-2005 12:07 PM

I, Robot and Get ****ed are screamo.

Sep 01-18-2005 12:21 PM
Hopesfall didn't "find a sound." In case you didn't notice, this album is a very plausible progression from The Satellite Years. The songs are still complex and intense but this time around instead of screaming with a melodic vocal line every so often, they sing the whole time. There's nothing poppy or sell out with singing. Underoath changed away from Christian black metal to pop punk. I mean they even scream more than Hopesfall but have clearly sold themselves beyond anything Hopesfall did on the past album.
Underoath were black metal?? The only (older) Underoath I have heard is 'When The Sun Sleeps' and is that really Black Metal?

cbmartinez 01-18-2005 02:11 PM

Act Of Depression is black metal.
I, Robot and Get ****ed are screamo.
Thanks.

littledrummerboy 01-18-2005 07:16 PM

haha I might get flamed for this but I like the blood brothers and they are like emo/screamo

cbmartinez 01-18-2005 07:34 PM

Though they some screamo influence, they are primarily a hardcore/indie band.

BuddyBigsby 01-18-2005 09:57 PM

How is that not finding a sound? Yeah, they retained a ton of the Satellite Years elements on the new album, they just added melodies and some simpler song structure. I always felt Satellite Years was missing something, and I think what they added on A Types was that something.
