No offense but it seems you fo out of your way to be a prick.
|
Well, you keep going against my posts, dare I respond?
And I have stated numerous times that all of this is my opinion, you can think your way. |
You probably said that because I go to lots of shows and you don't...they've been around for over ten years, they play at festivals like Wakarusa, they are obviously good.
|

Oh ****, you got me there. It has got to be about jellousy
they've been around for over ten years, they play at festivals like Wakarusa, they are obviously good.
Worst. Logic. Ever!!!!!! Wow! Play Festivals + Play long time = Good band Please re-think that. |

You know The Bee Gees and ABBA played for awhile, and certainly tackled some huge arena's.
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/search-handle-url/index=music&field-keywords=the%252520samples&search-type=ss&bq=1&store-name=music/ref=xs_ap_l_xgl15/002-1457791-7389618 http://www.jambands.com/CDReviews/content_2004_12_01.06.phtml
This shows a lot, you are really proving a point. :thumb: ... |
You know The Bee Gees and ABBA played for awhile, and certainly tackled some huge arena's.
They created good music...the Bee Gees were the kings of disco pop and Abba was a successful pop group too. Too bad this is a jam band thread. |
I don't like them...sorry.
|
Apology accepted.
|
They created good music...the Bee Gees were the kings of disco pop and Abba was a successful pop group too.
Well, to you they are good (Well, at least your saying that to make yourself seem right), but there is no doubt that bad bands also stick together, and play large arenas. Because it is after all, all opinion. And to me, those bands suck, so they completely go against your silly logic.
Too bad this is a jam band thread.
Does that make a difference? |
Yeah, I hate when sucky bands play huge venues...*cough* Oasis at MSG*cough*
|
Yeah I know it's my opinion it's also the opinion of millions of others who frequent their shows because they love their music which gets them the notoriety to play at huge festivals like Wakarusa. If they sucked then they would not be having huge tours and no one would buy their CDs, which is your silly logic.
Does that make a difference?
Yes..it's irrelevant unless you named two jam bands. |

The logic of opinion...here it comes...It sounds bad = it is bad. Now apparently to two users (so far) this band is bad. Which makes your logic silly. I am sure there are bands you hate who play large venues or sell millions of CD's.
Yes..it's irrelevant unless you named two jam bands.
The conversation is not just on Jam Bands. But if it makes you happy... OAR The Samples Does that make you feel more sure of your arguement, sway your opinions, change anything...no, not really. |

The conversation is not just on Jam Bands. But if it makes you happy... OAR The Samples Does that make you feel more sure of your arguement, sway your opinions, change anything...no, not really.
If you wanna use opinions as your argument I can use it against you, in my opinion OAR and The Samples are good. That is also the opinion of many others who listen to their music. Bands don't become popular by sucking, they're obviously doing something right.
The logic of opinion...here it comes...It sounds bad = it is bad.
I have a hedonistic philosophy when listening to music..if it sounds good it is good. "Stayin' Alive" by the Bee Gees sounded good, it's a fun song and it was great to dance to, therefore it is good. The Samples sound great live, I'm seeing them live, so I'm guessing it'll be a good show. Oh wait nevermind that is silly logic, they sound great live so the show will suck...therrre we go :o |

You are not using that against me, you are agreeing with me.
I have a hedonistic philosophy when listening to music..if it sounds good it is good. Your original logic was that majority rules; if more people like it than don't, they must be fabulous. |
No I'm disagreeing with you, I thought that was clear but I guess not...
I hate metal. Ozzfest probably sells out wherever it goes. They msut be doing something right, like playing good metal music otherwise no one would go. It's hard to keep thinking of examples since you can't just understand facts or opinions at face value. Phish is good, do I have to explain that to you? They toured and stayed together for many years because people kept buying their Cds and attending their shows. |
Music is subjective to the listener or rather an individual , not the audience as a whole.
Backstreet Boys have sold millions of records, therefore they are good...well, not in my opinion. But thats where the secret is as its all opinon. Obviously the people who bought their records think theyre good but I dont, therefore it is all opinion. Golden rule for music: "if it sounds good to you, it's bitch'n. If it sounds bad to you, it's shittty."—Frank Zappa |

I hate metal. Ozzfest probably sells out wherever it goes. They msut be doing something right, like playing good metal music otherwise no one would go.
Oh, so because everyone but you likes Ozzy Osbourne, that must make him a good artist, no matter what you think. Sure he did something right, but that does not make him a good artist, because good is all opinion.
Phish is good, do I have to explain that to you? They toured and stayed together for many years because people kept buying their Cds and attending their shows.
And because they sell CD's they are good. That is beyond stupid. They are good because you like their music. Now let's say I don't like their music, then they are not good to me (IMO!!!!!). Why do you not understand what I am saying. I have said it countless times. EP gets it, SplitOpenAndMelt gets it, I get, most get it, why don't you? Now please, keep posting your arguments, though I have to go, maybe someone else will state what I am saying once again, and maybe you'll understand. |
I don't like the Backstreet Boys, but I don't say they suck, because they didn't to about a billion teenage girls. That was 50% of the argument, the other 50% was Badmoon arguing that he is the biggest prick on MX to me, (IMO!!!11!!1)

BADMOON DOES NOT ENJOY LISTENING THEIR MUSIC THEREFORE HE FEELS THAT IT IS BAD MUSIC. I'M SURE THERE ARE PLENTY OF PEOPLE WHO LIKE THEIR MUSIC, BUT THAT DOESN'T MEAN HE HAS TO.
I don't really see what the argument is here. |
It started when I called him a prick.
|
Hey, I never said the band was bad. I just don't enjoy the music they play. It's icky...It'd be sweet if you guys would stop arguing. Let's get back to some friendly discussion: What have you guys gathered about Trey Anastasio's new band. They played for the first time on 4/1, and I don't like the reviews I'm seeing. I already miss all the horns and jens superb voice...
|
Trey played with Mr. Crowe's Garden (Black Crowes) at Higher Ground very recently. That would've been cool.

Exactly
It started when I called him a prick.
And continued me saying everything I previously said was my opinion (Get use to it; I'm pretty opinionated). And then some how, you got the idea that because one dislikes a band, it is irelevant, because they sold a bunch of CD's, or whatever. We then continued with me explaining the same thing over and over and you agreeing with (But not knowing). Now, hopefully, you'll realize that just because a band is adored by millions, that doesn't make it a fact that they are "Good". |
Trey doesn't have the horns anymore? I haven't read much into it but I wish he still ahd the horns. I liked them.
|
Exactly

I heard the Backstreet Boys are getting back together. Supposedly, they sold a bunch of albums; you should check them out. They have to be great :) |
Yea, Trey ditched the horns...the songs that they were usually in sound so naked!

Greyspoke Variety is playing tonight at the Carriage House 8:00 in Bennington, VT. Anyone in the area should check them out.
|
Is anyone going to the All Good Festival? I wish I could go :(
|
I'm going! I don't care if I have to go by myself I'm going. That's a lineup I can't pass up for $79 and being that close to home. God...Claypool, Flaming Lips, Particle, SCI...orgasmic.
Edit: KMidura - Are you gonna tape the Greyspoke show? You really should. I need some new Greyspoke Variety. |

I'd go if I had a way to get there :upset: |
Edit: KMidura - Are you gonna tape the Greyspoke show? You really should. I need some new Greyspoke Variety.
There's been a couple of shows taped since one was last put up on Archive.org, but they hate to put up shows that aren't super tight, and seeing as how Mike had to rush in from NYC without any practice in order to make it in time, I doubt they're going to want to put this one up. That being said, it should be mastered within the week, so it is completely up to the band. Even if this one doesn't go up, they should be playing another gig fairly soon, and that one will most likely be going up, as it will be back at the Riley Center, and the demand for copies of that show should be quite large. If you'd like to plead with them, feel free to email them at greyspokevariety@yahoo.com. |
Does anyone here have any Phish bootlegs?
|
KMidura - I'll ask Rob the next time he gets online. He IM'ed me a while back and I still have him on my buddy list.
JPage54 - Check out a progam called FurtherNet at www.furthernet.com. It's a really nice sharing program that lets people share shows. It'd be better though if you were on DSL or better cause the FLACs and SHNs are pretty big. |
Ok, thanks man.
EDIT: Link doesn't work. :( |
I really dont like Jam bands, there just so annoying cause they go on for like 20 mins jamming and it sounds bad,i dont understand how u can like bands like phish and grateful dead
