pink floyd is cool , punk sucks
classic rock is great, my faves are queen, led zep, thin lizzy and fleetwood mac.
i think the reason people can still get into classic rock is because of the songwriting is so good compared to what we have today. queen are the best band in terms of songwriting as all four members have written numerous classics and countless songs that havent got the exposure they deserved
Good, but i don't know about the best, the beatles had soome great songwriting going for them. The reason i say that is because technically they weren't all that great, so they didn't have as much to work with and they still managed to make amazing songs. However i consider all the bands i like to have excellent songwriters (why else would i listen to them?). |
Greatest Hits 3 Has some of the best work.
And i like ALL of the songs. The Hitman + Princes of the Universe are my fave faster sings. Bijou and Who Wants To Live Forever slow songs. :chug:
oh yes, alot of their later albums had alot of overlooked gems on them. the only one i wasnt as big on was "innuendo", there were a handful of good tracks...but probley the worst of the era. Made in Heaven was just incredible, but im really partial to A Kind of Magic and The Miracle. :) i still listne to the early years more than anything, but i think Queen's sound in the 80's was one of a kind...they used synths to their advantage for sure and i like how they all wrote as a band, something not seein early on in the band. |
black sabbath is a good classic rock band, even tho they are more heavy, they still existed in that time.

I enjoy some of their work, specially when Randy was still with them. |
^^^
randy whom? Iommi was the only guitarist the band ever had. Black Sabbath has had over 30 members in the band, none of them having the name Randy...i think your confusing it with Ozzy's solo band. |

It reminds me of that tenacious D song that is supposedly about a member that joins after ozzy leaves, but i forget the name. |
^ Dio?
|
Ozzy is the worst singer that I listen to. Ozzy would be nothing without idiot fans who are impressed by his antics and don't really care about music very much . I listen to him for Rhandy Rhoads.
|
^ His early stuff wasn't bad.
You have to think, music isn't all about talent. It's about that, song writing, expression, attitude, ect... And Ozzy had some of that. |
^ Dio?
Dio, Ian Gillian, Ray Gillian, Glen Hughes, and for a few shows Rob Halford actually sung with the band lol. |

I do aggree that he was very much carried by Sabbath and by the members of his solo band. Hes more of a figurehead, like the queen of england...dosnt have much real power but the people would be lost w/out her...its the same with Ozzy, his voice works for Sabbath better than any of the others, even though Dio's voice is far superior, and Ozzy's role he created for heavy metal is unmatchable. leave it at that. |
can't forget jethro tull
|
^tr00 dat ;)
|
Hahaha, Frail you caught me. I was confusing Ozzy's solo band with Sabbath. Bleh. I don't know what I was thinking. Anyway though, I enjoy a little bit of Black Sabath and Ozzy solo but mostly because of Tony Iommi and Randy Rhoads.
^ Dio?
Complete The Who Many Neil young Many Cream and Eric Clapton Maybe some Jethro Tull Some Beatles Some Allman Brothers and a bunch more :D Any suggestions for less known bands. Hi.
I read your forums and realized,"Hey, That's me! Every song on my playlists are older than me too!(BTW i'm 14)I am a very avid classic rock lover. Led Zeppelin, The Who, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Rush and so on. I am also appaled by the rise of rap's popularity. To me, it is nothing but talking to an offbeat. What a waste of a good LP. Anyway, I just wanted to reply to your letter and let you know that you're not the only one. :thumb: |

|
so are there any other classic rock fans out there, and even if ur not, have u been noticing somewhat of a revival in interest for that sort of music?
I've been a classic rock fan all my life (though I'm only 23 :)) i have seen Uriah Heep in action like 8 times, and I met and became friends with one of their former frontmen. Subsequently I have started a fanclub for him, check it out @ http://www.johnlawtonbandclan.be |
^they have yet to prove to me they don't suck and gain my respect. and their one song is not up to classic rock standards...
I live in england and the darkness' album has been out for quite a while. You should listen to it if you like classic rock.but the solo's are all the same and I am very bored of them! My favourite classic rock bands are... Led-Zep The Who The Jimi Hendrix Experience and many many others |

MY LIFE IS RUINED! |

Yeah what's worse, is that most kids here think it's 'such a beautiful song' but don't even know that the songs wasn't by Limp Bizkit. fuckers |
Well i might as well make my way back over the yonder
Way back upon the hills Lord i might as well go back over the yonder Way back over the yonder cross the hill Cause if my baby dont love me no more I know her sister will Haha genius, im in a Hendrix-loving mood right now |
Led Zeppelin are my favourite band even thugh they broke up 9 years before I was born. I only need one more album to there original collection and that's "presence".
I haven't really heard any of The Who and it's a shame because people say they're really good. I love the darkness i reckon there hilarious. They have brung classic rock back in even though they don't fit right into the classic rock scene if you get what i'm saying. I've got a band at school and we do a lot of Zeppelin covers even Stairway To Heaven and Moby Dick (including the drum solo). Classic Rock is back in fashion trust me i should know i'm 15 i've told everyone at school listen to Zeppelin, listen to Zeppelin, but their all caught up in the rap scene aand it's irritating me. I also love Queen, AC/DC, Deep Purple, Pink Floyd, Eric Clapton and of course Dire Straits. Zeppelin rule!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rock On!!!! |

is anyone here seeing eric clapton in the summer??
Being a huge fan and knowing all their albums quite well, I'd say Who's Next is one of my least favorite. Don't get me wrong, it's still great, but doesn't have a great meaning. Like Tommy, it's gives a fabulous story, and is actually about the problems Pete Townsend was having. Very similiar to varous other Who albums. So what I'm trying to say is that it's great, yet overrated in my opinion. It's like a greatest hits album. |
