Tell me you've moved on without them after seeing their live show. Do it, I dare you!!!!

Kage 12-05-2006 04:58 PM

I was just extremely dissapointed by that new tune. I mean, I really figured they could have branched out but I guess they are going to continue doing the same old thing.

bwnstl 12-07-2006 06:32 PM

Wow, this Halifax Pier is great! Thanks for that man. I'm really liking it.

BurningSky 12-08-2006 02:44 PM

I just got ahold of Mono's album Walking Cloud and Deep Red Sky, Flag Fluttered and the Sun Shined...

Wow, I'm blown away. This is such a great album. The crescendos are incredible, the layering is incredibly lush..just wow...

With just this first listen, I'm putting these guys on par with GY!BE, Red Sparowes, and Sigur Ros...

Txus 12-08-2006 03:12 PM

Mono are good but in the level of GY!BE and Red Sparowes? I don't think so. I was actually listen to their album Under The Pipal Tree this morning, really good album.

bwnstl 12-08-2006 03:23 PM

I would agree with Burning Sky that it's a great album. Especially Lost Snow--definitely one of the best tracks Mono has ever produced.

Personally I'd put them ABOVE GY!BE, but that's only because I think GY!BE are utterly boring crap for the most part. Red Sparowes definitely have the edge on Mono though.

And Txusie, I know you already upload a lot, but I would love you forever if you upped Under the Pipal Tree for DU.

Txus 12-08-2006 03:28 PM

Sure, Man. I'll do that later tonight :)

Mono is even better live. But basically just an incredible band all around.

But no one is on par with GY!BE.

Kage, good news. EitS's new album is leaked onto the internet. I knew you'd be excited.

Anyone heard this yet?

Kage 12-13-2006 06:46 PM

Nope. I need to hear this.

Know of any places to get it?

Txus 12-13-2006 09:43 PM

Torrents probably.

Thanks so much. :thumb: I've been waiting a while for new EITS.

ATM 12-13-2006 09:53 PM

No worries, I am actually downloading it myself right now haha

LF96 12-14-2006 11:26 AM

Anyone into Sickoakes here? Found their album in my local library and since it's on Type Records I didn't hesitate to check it out. It's pretty good, a bit in the same vein as GY!BE, with a very brooding dark atmosphere.

Oh, I'd like this link as well if possible. mcemmer at hotmail dot com. :)

Dr. Jake Destructo 12-15-2006 03:10 PM

So I was bored out of my mind yesterday and I decided to check out The Red Sparowes.

Mmm.

I am torrenting one of their albums on my home computer, so I'll give you dudes a more thorough opinion later.

Anyways, is Halifax Pier somehow related to The Red Sparowes? I think I read that they share members.

bucket 12-15-2006 03:46 PM

There is one member in both bands. But the bands are nothing alike.

bwnstl 12-15-2006 03:49 PM

I'd say they have some similarities. Very different styles of post-rock though. Halifax Pier is more folk-oriented and even has vocals on some songs. Red Sparowes is definitely more into the metal side of PR.

ThePinkPanther 12-15-2006 04:05 PM

has anyone here ever listened to esmerine. They're another offshoot of GY!BE but this time the only instruments are the cello, marimba, and the occasional percussion and piano.

ive been getting really into them lately

New EITS is really cool.

It's a lot different; a lot heavier.

Those who tell the truth.... was heavy enough as it is

LF96 12-16-2006 01:25 PM

Esmerine make really beautiful music. I'm not quite sure if you can call it post-rock though, it sounds much more like minimalism ā la Arvo Pärt. There are no climaxes and such, but that's what's makes it interesting as a whole.

I've actually been thinking of starting a similar style of band with me on various (percussive) instruments and someone else playing violin or cello.

SailAway 12-16-2006 07:46 PM

I recently bought a red sparowes album to check out some post rock. It's very interesting and definately winning me over. The only other post rock I have heard is Sigur Ros' (), which is definately an awesome album!

Amit 12-16-2006 09:14 PM

are there any post rock bands that are stunning like a steve reich or philip glass concerto or what

ATM 12-16-2006 09:20 PM
