I think Mystical has one (sorry if I mixed your name up).

Crump 03-13-2005 06:35 PM

Also how versatile is it? I play all sorts of stuff. thanks

playwithfire 03-14-2005 12:43 AM
well, as long as your happy right? but sabian DOES make 17" AA Meidums as a circulation size...its not a custom job or anything.
A lot of stores just seem to stock the same types of cymbals though. Whenever I go looking for new crashes, and the store doesn't have a huge selection of Zildjian, I'm guaranteed to find a 16" A Medium Thin crash and an 18" A Thin crash, both in traditional finish.

l3n 03-14-2005 07:52 PM

Well, that's probably the market for you then. They stock what's easy and fast to sell, not what you, a single drummer, wants. Happens to me too :upset:

Dave*Grohl 03-15-2005 01:48 PM

Wich are better Zildjian z medium crash or Avedis medium crash?

bobby__johnny 03-15-2005 01:53 PM

deifantly the A. Zildjian Medium. WAY more tone, and much more useful at lower volumes.

no1bettr 03-15-2005 04:11 PM

My mom told me that i can get a new ride for easter because of my good grades. Im really thinking about paragons. i just wanted to know if there are any other ones that i might be missibng out on. suggestions would be fantastic.

note* she said it cant be over 250 USD

Plan B. 03-15-2005 04:16 PM

The Paragon ride is a really specific ride. Very heavy and pingy.

If that's what you want, go for it. Other choices could be A Ping rides, Rock rides, stuff like that.

bobby__johnny 03-16-2005 05:19 PM

i would say look into the Heavier AA rides....while the paragon is a very nice ride i think, its a little over priced, because you could get an AAX Metal ride for less, and have the same sound characteristics.

Epiphender 03-16-2005 10:18 PM

I'm looking for a ride for around $150 US. What are my options? Darker is preferable but that tends to cost more.

l3n 03-17-2005 06:30 AM

I'm surfing around for a crash now, and I've gained interest in a 18" HHX Studio Crash. One thing though, is that they describe the cymbal as 'thin'. I'm a little worried although I do have some confidence in my technique, so would this work for say, hard rock, and yet lighter stuff, or studio work, pop and that kind of stuff? Will it break easy under any of those conditions mentioned?

Diluted 03-17-2005 01:54 PM

I just bought some 14" Zildjian A custom Mastersound hats and I love them. So, now I'm looking for 2 crashes, 16" and 18", preferably Zlidjian (just becuase i love a's and a customs). I play mostly classic rock, progressive rock, and metal. Any suggestions??

Dave*Grohl 03-17-2005 02:18 PM

How are Sabian AA's?

A Custom Projection Crashes.

Iskandar 03-17-2005 03:48 PM
I was just wondering, like this, is there a ride that is dark but with not a lot of overtone?
K Custom rides. You'll find plenty of rides like that if you look.

i would suggest HHX Stage Crash instead. it's a Medium-thin Weight, and should stand up to most situations if your technique is good.

the Studio, i would say is fine for just about anything, aside from the Hard rock/metal genres.
How are Sabian AA's?
Bright. Compareable to A. Zildjians and Paiste 2002's

i'd say a pair of A. Zildjian Medium Crashes would complement those hats perfectly.

Diluted 03-17-2005 06:25 PM

bobby_johnny

do you think a 16" A custom projection and a 18" A medium would work well together??

of course I will be trying these out before I buy anything...

Plan B. 03-17-2005 06:30 PM

Yes, they would. I think the A would be higher pitched though.

It would be a good transition.

J0llyhunter 03-17-2005 07:11 PM

a ride that's warm, little overtones, NOT cutting, little sustain, and medium buildup? kinda like the K constinople MT rides but LESS overtones

l3n 03-17-2005 07:57 PM

Tried looking at Alchemy yet?

Iskandar 03-17-2005 08:11 PM

The A Custom would have a higher pitch, I'm thinking. A Customs are designed to be fast and bright; plus it's a smaller size. They should work together very well.

maybe try the K Heavy ride?

punskad16 03-17-2005 09:09 PM

whats this aax crap, get zildjians!

szenarox 03-17-2005 11:36 PM

i'm looking for a ride that's dark and loud. if there is such a thing. should a K Custom do the trick? i like the sound of the A rock ride and the pingyness of the z customs but z customs go "GLAAAAAANG" too much. yea...something dark, but loud. K heavy ride?

Plan B. 03-18-2005 12:12 AM

Try the K Custom Dry ride.

Chiefgeezer 03-18-2005 10:59 AM

Ok, heres the thing. I need some Cheap hi hats, talking starting range here, for about $90 tops cos my old ones just died on me and i need some temporary ones while i save money for some HHX stage hats. I would prefer Sabian as they're my first choice but i'm not particularly fussy. I just want the best sound for that price.

Thanks in advance everyone, have a good one.

TTTSNB 03-18-2005 11:49 AM

Sabian owns Zildjian IMO. They are much more consistent, have a better selection, and often sound better.

Look for some used ones, or try some 502s or b8 pros.

TTTSNB 03-18-2005 11:51 AM

I'm looking for a second ride to go along with my 21" AA Rock Ride. Any Suggestions?

Seafroggys 03-18-2005 03:52 PM
