There was a Priest thread that got quite big ages ago, but that seems to have disappeared.

K.K. Downing and Glenn Tipton are probably my fave guitar duo. Scott Travis was insane on Painkiller and Halford isn't a bad singer aswell :p

Exciter. Feel the pounding of double bass in 1978.
^^^haha

Priest are outstanding - sad wings of destiny or british steel is my favourite album. I think Halfords voice is unbeatable
I fully agree with this 'Flappersack' character, Halford's voice is brilliant. The amazing thing about Priest is that they never get boring or seem dated, good ****. Painkiller or Point of Entry (Turning Circles \m/) are my fav's

Grimm 11-13-2005 04:09 AM

Priest found a type of metal that won't get old until the earthis purged of all people who have ever listened to, and enjoyed rock and metal.which doesn't seem likely.Well i hope it isn't likely cause otherwise we're all screwed

dr._feelgood 11-13-2005 04:36 PM

Cool my thread got merged with the old Priest thread. I haven't listened to Painkiller in ages.

Deth 11-13-2005 04:40 PM

Mmmm, this thread brings back memories. Priest remains one of my favorite bands (I'm defending them in the competition) and I now also have Stained Class which is fantastic with the exception of the guitar tone.

Oh and Halford is the greatest metal singer ever.

Matas 11-13-2005 05:18 PM

I saw Judas Priest a bit less than a month ago, Anthrax opened for them. was an awsome night! Halford was dead on for every song, great vocalist. And belladonna from Anthrax had the best stage presence ever. Glad he came back after sooo many years.

Apocalyptic Raids 11-13-2005 05:21 PM

Return of the famous Creeping Deth Priest bumps.

So yeah, regarding Priest slightly. Who here has heard any of the Halford side projects aside from Halford? They don't look really that promising to me, but I'd be willing to give them a try if they're not too bad.

Deth 11-14-2005 07:49 AM

I heard a song from Fight and didn't like it and Two is supposed to be god awful.

Glad to bump the bestest Priest thread in the land :).

Riva 11-14-2005 05:58 PM

Halford's the only solo project of Rob's worth listening to.

GenuineImitation 11-14-2005 06:29 PM

I first got introduced to this band a few years ago when I was "window shopping". I heard of Judas Priest, but not any of their music and I was just getting into metal at the time. I found a British Steel/Painkiller combo in my local cd store for 6 dollars (it was used), so I decided to pick it up.

Finding those two cds for so little cash, was a miracle. I have been hooked ever since.

guitar321 11-14-2005 06:42 PM

Angel of retribution is a amazing album every song is good, wow that band is amazing every person in that band is wicked at there intrument , tipton and downing a are insane duo, scott travis....wow is all i can say, Hill is wicked at bass and rob just has a awesome voice, JUDAS PRIEST ROCKS..PERIOD!

Hollywood Rose 11-14-2005 06:59 PM

My friend is upsessed with Painkiller. Like seriously. . .

Also, I had a chance to see them, but I didn't have a ride.

pep 11-14-2005 07:33 PM

Sad Wings of Destiny

Powerslave (maiden)

I would say Powerslave, but that's because I'm a Maiden fanboy. SFV would be my #2.

Metalhead1409 11-14-2005 08:56 PM

I got to see them in San Antonio this past summer. After all these years they seem to be going strong. Angel of Retribution is just awsome. Its an instant Priest classic.

rippa32 11-14-2005 10:54 PM

I don't actually have any Judas Priest whats the Sin After Sin album like? I quite like the cover art.

FatalEnergy 11-14-2005 11:33 PM

Sin After Sin is a pretty good album, not their best, but worth owning

I'll recommend on the Priest ones, because I would be hard pressed to put Powerslave or Holy Diver over each other. :p

Screaming For Vengeance has some great tracks, but also a bit of filler. It's very much Speed Metal, so if you're looking for that, then great.

Sad Wings Of Destiny is more hard rock, but it is also almost completely devoid of filler tracks.

Depends on where your tastes lie.
Hey HeavyRiva you've heard Biomechanical right?
Sure have. Why do you ask?

Your comments made me smile, cos last week we had a load of Priest on and we all said "was this supposed to be heavy?. It's the tone of the guitars and the production that really date old metal, not the content IMO.

And SFV would be a lot better if the production didn't sound like the microphones were stuffed inside a carrier bag full of socks.

Halford is joint first - along with Dio!:)

Apocalyptic Raids 11-15-2005 04:25 AM

I would rate Halford in my top 5 for sure.

The King is always first though

Elvis? Diamond? Hungry Jacks?

Apocalyptic Raids 11-15-2005 04:50 AM

Hungry Jacks dum dum.

Josh 11-15-2005 04:52 AM

currently i have Painkiller, any recomendations as to what Priest album to get yet? i was thinking maybe British Steel.

EDIT: Angel of Retribution is less than £4 on amazon :)

Riva 11-15-2005 04:52 AM

I had me some Hungry Jacks today. Double Whopper with Cheese. 'Twas a meal worthy of Halford.

Apocalyptic Raids 11-15-2005 04:57 AM

I last had Hungry Jacks after the NRL grand final. The burger looked like it had been fetched from a bucket of water.

That didn't stop me though

Riva 11-15-2005 05:07 AM

Josh, get Sad Wings Of Destiny and British Steel, and then tell me what you liked better.
