genres should be thought of as adjectives. mixed genres are just that, they involve more than one, so how else are you going to describe something like that...
if something is.. 'madcore rap' for example, youd expect some rapping, some harder sounding stuff, and whatever you can imagine mad to be...
goth-reggae... would be goth and reggae styles together..
