Im a huge classic rock fan, my playlist features, Led Zep, alot of Van Halen, tons of AC/DC, Hendrix and lots of Guns n Roses. If this great genre is to return, we should all get behind the Darkness and just hope some more classic sounding bands, with raging guitar solos come out, instead of "the strokes", "kings of leon" and all those **** bands.
|
i love bands like: Zeppelin, Floyd, hendrix, The Eagles, Clapton, Grateful dead, and others
I do notice a lot of these poser bands like good charlote and simple plan that say that they were inspired by these bands, they are full of Sh**. They are boy bands with guitars. Albiet, i try not to limit myself to one genre of music. I also like some nw bands, linkin park isnt bad, smile empty soul, hoobastank. Hes not new, but i also love Marley |

Nice playlist. Bands like that are trying to bring back classic rock but they are nothing compared with the older stuff. Also the band Jet are said to be trying to bring classic rock back. Now their first song was awful but I heard the rest of their cd and it sounds very ac/dc based. With a little better soloing I think they could be pretty good. The darkness are fun and I like them (most of their songs anway). Hopefully there will be more classic rock bands but it seems all of the talent these days is going to metal and not to classic rock bands. Not like any of the talent today compares with the older stuff... |

I like Linkin Park's "hybrid theory" cd a lot. But once they whored out on the media I stoped caring. I still listen to hybrid theory once in a while though. Edit: Nice first post :thumb: I think my first post was something along the lines of "who's Eddie Van Halen?!!!!!11???" :( |

any BOC talk i must be involved, im a HUGE fan of them...i got preety much all of their albums. Spectres and the self titled album are easily still at the top of my list for them though. |
I brought up the Traveling Wilburys, why no talk about that?
|
W00t, let's get some BOC talk started. Right now I only have one of their albums, a compilation actually, Workshop of the Telescopes. I'm looking for some of their other ones like Blue Oyster Cult, Tyranny and Mutation and others. Even though I only have W of the T I still love it. I love BOC because the're so unique and original. They have this dark psychedelic feel to them. It's amazing. Roeser's guitar work is awesome and Bloom's voice is up there with the greats. S, what do the rest of you guys think of them.

We should all have an AIM chat
Does anyone not have AIM? |

I haven't heard much by the eagles but everybody says they are good so i'll check em out. You should check out. Van Halen, Buffalo Springfield, Rush, The doors, Allman Brothers band, Grateful Dead... I'll think of some more but those are some good guitar based bands and even just bands that aren't quite as heavily into the solos as what you mentioned. Oh and does anybody know what the lead guitarist from Deep Purple's name is? |
Then - Ritchie Blackmore
Now - Steve Morse |
AIM - Sn0wPr0 with zeros, not O's.

Joe Satriani also played for Deep Purple
|
Hehe, sorry we forgot about The Traveling Wilburys. I haven't had the chance to listen to a lot of their material, but what I have heard I like. I just like the fact that they are made up of stars like Dylan, Petty, Orbison, Harrison, can't remember the other guys name. I have heard "Handle With Care", "End of the Line", "Last Night" and a few other songs. I tihnk they are a pretty good band, maybe I'll buy one of their albums. Moon, what do you think of them.
|
^ Jeff Lyne (From ELO)
I think they're great. Fabulous singing of course, and just a great feel good, super group. Harrison kicks ***. |
Joe Satriani also played for Deep Purple
So did Tommy Bolin but it was for a really short time. I only listed the two main guitar players DP had/has. |
^ Bolin also replaced Joe Walsh in James Gang. It's impossible to replace Walsh, he's too **** good.
|
I like Walsh for his work with The Eagles.
|
^ Have you listened to much of The James Gang?
|
Joe Satriani also played for Deep Purple
Wow, I never knew that all of those guys played for them. I just though that they ad some really good but unheard of guitarist. |
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers anybody?
|
^ Have you listened to much of The James Gang?
Yea, I own Yer' Album. Don't get me wrong, I like Walsh with James Gang and James Gang in general, I just think Walsh had a lot more success with the Eagles. You see what I'm saying. |
I like Teh Eagulz, Teh Dire Straitz, and TEh Who.
:) |
