Hes a novelty, hardly thought provoking. In the world of entertainment, novelties are not thought provoking, they're just something new to fawn over. Suspending more principles of mine, lending credence to the comparison between Lil B and ODB, that itself means ODB was doing it way before Lil B and that Lil B is that much LESS creative or novel, and that any appreciation he receives at all is superfluous and undue.
That doesn't make sense. I was making a comparison, didn't mention any similarity between delivery or content yet. Why does making a comparison automatically make ODB superior? I mean I probably shouldn't listen to any song with vocals considering Beethoven did it first, and everything post is superflous or whatever pompous terminology you were using. The way lil b delivered his content through self-promotion and youtube vlogs was original as well. You can see it imitated by MTV Riff Raff and other clowns . When he titled his release "im gay" it was thought provoking in that it lead to panel discussions and re-emphasized the homophobic culture still present in hip hop. A lot of his music parodies many modern rap tropes, which is a breath of fresh air. This is fairly thought-provoking stuff given the context of the genre. I can't think of any other current quasi-mainstream, homosexuality-endorsing hip hop artist right now. The fact that we are having this discussion makes him thought provoking. |

All this becomes hilarious when you remember the music exred endorses:
"Wednesday's dirty blood clot. Hoards of leaves wear 3-d glasses to whisper the wind's plea to accept an emptied room. Backtalk, the bethlehem of patios points backwards footprints at the stagehand puppets friendly lament." |
what do you mean man, that's the kind of music that we all need to listen to so that we can liberate the working class from being oppressed by gucci mane and lil wayne

You're not providing a counter-analysis to my points. All the thoughts he has provoked have been provoked before, have not really been critically analyzed by Lil B, and have been the equivalent of a common individual getting a hold of beats and recording equipment. That is my primary point: he's nothing special at all, and in fact most rappers that get popular like him aren't really anything special in any way. |

Yup. Name me another rapper that preceded Lil B who's music is as synonymous with home-made video recordings.
You're not providing a counter-analysis to my points. What I'm saying is nobody has been able to bring as much self awareness and humor at the expense of other hip hop contemporaries like Lil B, and he did it all by utilizing, and parodying a cliche hip hop sound. |

He's utilizing tools of his time. He isn't some genius for that. If he did it from a message board or something, there might be a point to what you're saying. YOutube is a popular site. Someone was bound to do what he did and with no greater effort. Ive already named some and if I went on to name more, a side debate riddled with trivial comparisons would develop and it would be ridiculously off topic. I'd much prefer staying on topic.
theres a thin line between discussing rap music and being exredhouse
If you didnt have such a strong proclivity for stupidity, detectable by your taste in rap, I would imagine you'd hate yourself, given how stupid you are. |
nah im pretty smart thanks though

I wouldnt trust your opinion of you if I were you.
|
good to know
|
this sounds like a bunch of hipsters who knew a black guy being like lets EXPERIMENT with rap itll be NEW AND COOL

if you cant cook a rare meal when you are completely sober then you are not a true #based chef
|
first off don't you think lil b is high like 24/7
second i just said its mad fun high and/or drunk and i just started i gotta long way to go |
why does it matter if hes high 24/7
lil b is healthy for you all hours of the day DONT TRY TO PIN THE BASED GOD DOWN |
because every rare meal he cooks is while under the influence
|
stop trying to justify your dependencies luc
|

That has to be the worst attempt to escape the corner you've been backed into I've ever seen. |
