a lot of bands these days have hardcore roots
Um, no they don't. |
Uh, Trev, that wasn't entirely untrue...
|
Do you know what hardcore is?
|
uh.. i like extol
|
enc for president
|
I actually travel with a very "up and coming" type Christian metal band...
Decypher Down named them the regional "Top Dog" Just played with Bride on Saturday. THIS FIRES EMBRACE http://www.myspace.com/thisfiresembrace Sort of like a christian KSE meet In Flames or so... The songs up dont do justice. New album out soon. Heavier, more technical.. overall Better. -Sixner |
My favourite would have to be Demon Hunter... then Skillet following closely behind.
|
Jesus Christ, Demon Hunter is terrible.
And I know Jesus Christ knows it. |
I don't know why, but for some reason any band that specifies itself as "Christian" always rocks less hard and is less good than an equivalent band which does not, even if that equivalent band had all Christian members. The guitars just hit that much less hard, the melodies are that much blander...it baffles me why, but Christian rock is just never good.

I don't think I really agree with that. But Demon Hunter is horrible. I used to like Skillet a bit though. Becoming The Archetype is as good as anything out there though. |
You really can't name me a good rock band which identifies itself as "Christian" more than as just a rock band.
I don't know or care shi about metal so leave any metal bands out of it. |

That's an incredibly blanket statement.
12 Stones, for example, is an incridible talented, great melodic Christian rock band. Demonhunter's first album was ace, the rest is crap. |
12 Stones' first album was great, but the second one was horrible.
|
There is some Doom band I used to listen to that were apparently Christian and they were pretty good. I can't remember their name, though.

Blindside are a great rock band and can rock harder than a lot other rock bands. great live too, their singer portrays a lot of emotion

but "The Great Depression" was horrible. |

I know. I've never seen an exception to it.
12 Stones, for example, is an incridible talented, great melodic Christian rock band.
Upload some shi of theirs and I will judge |
Hahaha, 12 Stones is one of the worst bands ever.
|
Hahaha, 12 Stones is one of the worst bands ever.
This.
Although, from what I remember, the Christian rap-rock band Pillar could definitely take 12 Stones on when it comes to shittiness. |
Pretty much any christian (insert genre here) sucks balls.
|
Broken was kinda cool, but the rest was LAAAAME.
|
You know he was so awesome on Bring Me To Life.
|

I'll go ahead and back you up on that one. |

I'll agree with this because there is some awesome Christian music, it's just that as far as I know it's all classical, or four-part-harmony hymns. |
I like Emery.
Oh, and Insane Clown Posse, they're Christian, right? |
if they were I would become a Satan worshipper right this minute
|
I think that was an urban legend for a while.
|
I never heard it.
I would absolutely sacrifice goats and sodomize virgins if it were true, though. |
It's funny to think that Tom Araya(Slayer) and Ralph Santolla(ex-Deicide) ae both Roman Catholics, though obviously the more chilled out, slightly less retarded sort.
|
I never heard it.
but "The Great Depression" was horrible.
yeah i know, thats my least fav Blindside album...has a few good tracks though |
I like Emery.
Emery writes some amazing songs. Anybody listened to the new song on their myspace page? I don't have speakers on this computer.
yeah i know, thats my least fav Blindside album...has a few good tracks though
I couldn't find any. But Silence and About A Burning Fire are the shiznit! |

Yeah, their first album was so much better than The Question, though. I hope the new album is more in that vein (but I'm not gonna hold my breath). |
It's funny to think that Tom Araya(Roman Catholic) and Ralph Santolla(Roman Catholic) are both in shitty metal bands, though obviously the more chilled out, slightly less retarded sort.
I know what |
DECYFER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! sorry, heh, just they're from my state and i don't let the misspellings for that band go by
whoops. my bad. hah.. They've got some cool stuff.. and they're cool guys. I talked with em about how they do stuff on the road. I feel bad that they 1st got in a car crash, then got some gear (lap top with recordings included) stolen from their van. in broad day-light no less! crazy... -Sixner |
Man.
I've come to realize that Aletheian is the only great Christian band out there. I know much of this thread isn't serious because of the religious issue, but come on. (I've been listening to them, errr..religiously all day) |
