@bucket: Wow, I'm listening to Magyar Possie's album We Carry You Over the Mountains, and wow. This is great.
|
Now just hold the phone. I love some of those bands, but better than Godspeed? I think not.
That's just my personal opinion. You have to be in a certain mood when you listen to Godspeed, and you have to have a lot of time on your hands to get through Providence. Godspeed can be one of my favorite bands when I'm in the right mood but their music is extremely hard to listen to at points. |
What is your email or AIM? petethecow@hotmail.com
I have Same same, but not Easily Misunderstood :(
I found same same, on soulseek, want me to upload Easily Misunderstood for ya? |
if you are a fan of the genre look up these guys:
do make say think red sparowes pelican isis mono not sure if they are all post rock/metal, this genre is really obscure, they sound like the other mentioned bands. |
Each of those bands has been mentioned quite a few times. They're indeed really good, though.
I'm digging a band called Beacuse of Ghosts right now. Great three-piece Post Rock. |
I found same same, on soulseek, want me to upload Easily Misunderstood for ya?
I can get it off of soulseek. A few months ago I couldn't find the full album on there. I shall check next time I get on. Thanks for the offer. Right now I'm anxiously awaiting Red Sparowes' new album. It should be released in Aug/Sept. Based on the new song, it should sound very similar to At the Soundless Dawn, which is good. I hope they can figure out how to cut the pointless noise out of this album though. Such as the begining of Mechanical Sounds... and the end of The Sixth Extinction. |
I recently read an article about the Sixth Extinction, which is what Red Sparowes' At The Soundless Dawn is about, and I must say, that it is one of the most interesting topics ever. I'll post the link in a second.

Somehow the Red Sparowes made a a great lyrical topic without lyrics.
|
Hahaha, my bad. You know what I meant though.
|
Based on the new song, it should sound very similar to At the Soundless Dawn
Eh, I notice a ton of difference, especially in the way instrumentation is used and the arragnements. Whereas all the songs ATSD were normally built around one theme, with many different instruments doing counter-melodies and harmonies, this new one is a lot more shifting and evolving.
Hahaha, my bad. You know what I meant though.
;). it's true, though, the concept of that album is fantastic. |
i wonder why its called post rock.. i dont see no rock in sigur ros. but of course theres beter response in the rock and metal forum than any other
it's supposed to imply that it's futuristic. as in, for the past 50 years we've been in the "rock" era, and post-rock is the next step. by the way, i've heard Slint called Post-Rock, but they never seemed like it to me. just like a heavy band that thinks if they play really really slowly and randomly they'll be complex. |
There's this post rock band Austin TV, let me see if I can find some of their material and tell you how it was.
On a related note, I'm going to look for 65dysofstatic, I like the mixture of electronic music elements to the Post Rock element: "Retreat! Retreat!" is my favorite song. |
Post Rock used to be my favorite genre, and while I still love it, I don't listen to it as much anymore. Except for Sigur Ros, that is.
|
So, anyone heard We Followed Tigers? I was whoring them out a couple weeks back on here. Probably my favorite Post Rock band.
|

They don't "sound" like Post Rock because they're more a part of the wave of bands that more literally fit the defintion of using rock instrumentation for things other than rock. Slint, Bark Psychosis, Tortoise, etc... had more to do with jazz fusion and/or electronica than the soaring, melancholy music we know as PR today. |
Anyone ever listen to Meanwhile, Back in Communist Russia...? I only know they're a post rock band whose name I like a lot. I'll have to find some songs.
|
I've heard of them, but I haven't listened to them. I'll check them out.
I'm listening to Magyar Posse, thanks to bucket. Great band. |
I've heard of them, but I haven't listened to them. I'll check them out.
I'm listening to Magyar Posse, thanks to bucket. Great band.
My friend (Daven) introduced me to these guys....really awesome stuff :) |
I introduced them to Daven.
And to whoever said something about Meanwhile, Back in Communist Russia, they are good. It's post-rock sprinkled with electronica. While there is no singing, a female speaks overtop the music. reccommends. |
I introduced them to Daven.
Nice chain :p |
I'm downloading some Meanwhile Back in Communist Russia. I'll report back with my thoughts.
|
I love post rock but its almost impossible to find stuff by some of these bands. If anybody wants to send me some albums i'm smoothmb2@aol.com. Tell me who you are if you send me something.
|
I introduced them to Daven.
I love whoring. |
Call me crazy, but I think that based on the end segment of "Only In Dreams", the old Weezer might have been able to pull of some kind of post-rock stuff :p
|
I just downloaded my elixer; my poison.
The first word that comes to mind when listening to it is haunting.
Definately, "haunting" is a very apporpriate word. I <3 Post Rock. |
I sent you something miik. I forgot to leave my name, but whatever.
|
I hope the post rock movement gets alot bigger. It's really starting to pick up speed.
|
I sent you something miik. I forgot to leave my name, but whatever.
thanks got it |
This thread is about as interesting as the entire genre of post-rock.
:-\ |
Sooooo, anyone like Té?
|
Ouch.
I'm going to ask one more time, but has anyone here heard We Followed Tigers? I whored them out a few months back, and I'm willing to do it again. Seriously, they are my favorite Post Rock band. |
Ouch.

Seriously, they are my favorite Post Rock band.
Did you get a name change? I have five songs, but only have listened to two because at the same time in the same track, my mp3 player freezes. I should probably get the songs on my computer so I can actually listen to them all. Can't really remember what I thought about them. Neuro, what is Te like? |
Yeah, name used to be IAmTheBlackWizard. You probably got those tracks from me, I was sending out their And Then We Died EP. They are like a more aggresive and energetic EITS. They are quite a breath of fresh air in this genre. I love them.
|
Quorthonance: Yeah, I dig WFT.
Bucket: Japanese post-rock... their new album is excellent from start to finish. Similar to Mono or Explosions in the Sky. |
I'll take some We Followed Tigers if you're willing to give.
|
Jaga Jazzist, I know Kage already said it, but they're my favorite post rock band.
They're a mix of jazz, post rock, and electronica. I absolutely love the album. You can see my review on sputnik for more if you are intrigued. |
Sure. I'll upload it again shortly.
|
Thanks a lot. I didn't catch it when you were whroing it out the first time, I guess.
|
What's your email Kage? The one in your profile doesn't seem to work.
Anyone else want the link for We Followed Tigers? Excellent group. |
