who is everyones favorite band member on metallica, me obviously would be lars, his old stuff, not on st. anger because everything sounds the same

what about all of you
they keep getting rid of my fav. members:upset: but James is probably my currnet favorite.

iliketoplaydrums10111 11-18-2003 09:52 AM

they dont have to be currently in the band, it can be when they first started or whatever, just your favorites that were once in the band or still is

Steve DeBerg 11-18-2003 09:55 AM

^ yay. My favorites (being a bassman) would have to be Jason and Cliff.

JillyBo 11-18-2003 09:59 AM

I'm not the biggest fan of Metallica, but Hetfield is my favourite member, like his vioce.

iliketoplaydrums10111 11-18-2003 10:02 AM

^^yea hes got a preety good voice

was metallica ever not together, did they ever split for a period of time?

Ramsey 11-18-2003 10:06 AM

^ I believe that people assumed that they split up before st. anger. I mean, people were thinking that it was the end....until we heard they were working on st. anger...

RideTheSpiral 11-18-2003 10:08 AM

I think they did basically split while Hetfield was in re-hab.

Toozey 11-18-2003 10:09 AM

But they didn't.

Ramsey 11-18-2003 10:11 AM

^ well it was believed that they did though. but yes. they didn't. lol.

RideTheSpiral 11-18-2003 10:13 AM

No they didn't

*Doesn't know that much about Metallica* :upset:

Toozey 11-18-2003 10:16 AM

I know too much.

Ramsey 11-18-2003 10:16 AM

Well lets give this thread a kick in the ass:

What is your most favorite metallica solo?

I like the ride the lightning solo, because honeslty imo its the hardest one, and i just like it. I also love the unforgiven two solo. it is alot better than the unforg. 1 solo imo...

bball_1523 11-18-2003 10:16 AM

I think they should make a surprise epic thrash album like Master of Puppets before they call it a career. It would blow away the haters and criticizers.

I think st. anger was made production-wise, horribly. But some songs are ok, like frantic, st. anger, and shoot me again. The songs are just too long and recorded horribly. If it was recorded better and they cut the songs a little short of possibly made them progressive, a lot of people might dig the album.

I really enjoy st. anger live, their tone is loud and killer.

Ramsey 11-18-2003 10:18 AM

^ when they performed st. anger live i was suprised. it actually sonuds really good! lol. but i still hate the album.

Toozey 11-18-2003 10:19 AM

St Anger is an ugly peice of work to listen to. Thats the only way to describe it. It really is a big "Fuck you" to all the over produce Nu Metal bands around right now. I believe this was there aim with the album.

Ramsey 11-18-2003 10:21 AM

^ oh ok i get it. I think metallica is trying to say, if "any ones gonna play nu metal, we'll be the ones and we'll perfect it." Basicaly a big f u to nu metal bands today..

Squirrel 11-18-2003 10:22 AM

I ADORE Metallica and this thread is a great idea :thumb:,

The early stuff - kill em all, ride' etc were all amazing ground breaking concepts, and I will admit i like the black album, some of load/reload and i DO LIKE St Anger. Yeah it was nt their best but its still got some good songs on it and even if it is nu metal its the best nu metal album out there IMO.

Theyre all talented people and i think they get too much stick for a few bad albums. Come on they gave us great songs such at One, MoP, Fade to Black, Four Horsemen, Damage inc, jsut about any song on the 1st for albums.

Conclusion - Metallica were and always will be a great band.

Ramsey 11-18-2003 10:26 AM

^ Always? lol.

"Tick tock tick tock"

Need i repeat myself?

lol
j/k
welcome to the thread ;)

RockerGav 11-18-2003 10:36 AM

RTS: :thumb: I congratulate you, I kiss your feet for this.

Member: HETFIELD. The man IS Metallica, the voice, the riffs, his solos are better on average than Kirks in my opinion.

Fave Solo: MoP (first one with the harmony guitar interlude) or the first 2 Sanitarium solos.

-Gav

Rashka 11-18-2003 10:53 AM

i prefer hetfield to any member of metallica...

he looks glorious, playing and singing/screaming/shouting.

and i proudly admit to like garage, inc.

iliketoplaydrums10111 11-18-2003 10:59 AM

so far we have listed fav. members and solo's, but we havent hit on you all time FAVORITE metallica song that just blew you away and no other metallica song could even be possibly better

mine is a tie between master of puppets and sanitarium

Ramsey 11-18-2003 10:59 AM

^ yeah he is magical

Ramsey 11-18-2003 11:00 AM

sanitarium.....and four horsemen....ok maybe not....sanitarium and rid the lightning...i think...blew me away the most.

That realy isn't that hard to beleive. It is a little more paletable(?) than them realy thinking what they were making was a good album.

Steve DeBerg 11-18-2003 11:04 AM

Oh yeah, my favorite metallica song, the one that got me into metallica, Fade to black.

Ramsey 11-18-2003 11:08 AM

Thats pretty cocky i have to admit. And its sad, because they've made a good nu metal album, but a piss poor metallica album. it angers me.

RockerGav 11-18-2003 11:24 AM

SA - NI - TARIUM

Gotta be the best Met song, or maybe Orion.

Ramsey 11-18-2003 11:30 AM

^ Hmm. Haven't heard orion. Have heard alot about. *opens kazaa*

Arcarsenal Ghost 11-18-2003 11:36 AM

I like the Intro to Ride The Lightning the most.
The first time I heard it I was like:eek::eek::eek::thumb:

Ramsey 11-18-2003 11:38 AM

Arcarsenal Ghost 11-18-2003 11:40 AM

Yeah, that one is great too.

iliketoplaydrums10111 11-18-2003 12:10 PM

iliketoplaydrums10111 11-18-2003 12:28 PM

i give it a 9/10

we should do somthing like the "forced listening" thread except with all metallica songs, hm, just an idea

Ramsey 11-18-2003 12:29 PM

heh. we can

iliketoplaydrums10111 11-18-2003 12:45 PM

anyone else wanna do it, or do you think its a stupid idea

superpeer 11-18-2003 01:04 PM

*Applauds RideTheSpiral*

'One' is the song that got me into Metallica.

A friend of mine put the song on in class for some English assignment and everyone was laughing and calling it the neverending song, gah, blasphemy :(
