I enjoy him. If someone else sang IWAIM, it would have been an outstanding album. His voice just didn't do it for me on that album, but I still enjoy very much.

homerthegreat 10-24-2005 07:29 PM

I think Bright Eyes are very good. I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning is probably my favourite CD of the year.

elnicky 10-24-2005 07:33 PM

Bright Eyes have some FANTASTIC songs, in a way, I feel bad some people can't admit it. I ahve to admit the guy is a dick and some of the songs range on obnixious but some of them are some of the best written modern songs around.

ldenman 10-24-2005 07:36 PM

cue all the "scene" girls....

Same here. I recently made my progressive rock crazy friend buy it, but he didn't enjoy it nearly as much as I did.

anotherlamenobody 10-24-2005 08:08 PM

I'm seeing them on the 10th, and Lifted is probably my favorite album ever, so yeah...I like them a little.

Mute Print 10-24-2005 08:12 PM

Bright Eyes is pretty cool I guess. I've heard a little of his music. It's alright. I'm not a huge fan though.
cue all the "scene" girls....
Cue the "stfu n00b3rt". :)

Scott Herren 10-24-2005 08:52 PM

lyrically i like that first day of my life song, but the guy is so whiney and can't really sing, so the song as a whole is less enjoyable. that and a couple other songs is really the extent of what i know of him.

bubbledeath 10-24-2005 08:54 PM

Overrated, and not so good. And that's coming from an "teenage-indie-girl" and scene and total popist.

poiuy trewq 10-24-2005 10:52 PM
I've only ever heard him on Austin City limits. And couldn't enjoy it even a tiny bit.
I like Bright Eyes but I thought that was horrible.

morrissey 10-24-2005 11:36 PM

I also hate the obsessive fans but he has a few good albums. Fevers & Mirrors is classy all around.

Digital Ash should never have been recorded.

Knives08 10-24-2005 11:36 PM

I like a few of his songs some of it sounds kinda like country music though.....

Yes...

rbv 10-24-2005 11:47 PM

His folk songs are good.

I like the songs that pack a punch but the rest suck.

morrissey 10-24-2005 11:48 PM

I really like "Haligh, Haligh, A Lie, Haligh".

I also really like your avatar.

rbv 10-24-2005 11:49 PM

heh thanks

well i couldn't have said it better myself (i actually tried and yours sounded better) i second your most excellent opinion.

Yeah, Fevers And Mirrors is by far his best.

elnicky 10-25-2005 06:39 AM
Yeah, Fevers And Mirrors is by far his best.
Yeah. I'm Wide Awake and It's Morning is pretty decent too. I have to agree 90% of Digital Ash.. is worse than terrible and for some reason he decided to tour it not I'm Wide Awake.

He probably couldn't gather the musicians on IWAIM to have a full tour of it.

soadfreak2121 10-25-2005 12:48 PM

my sisters crazy about them but i think there singers a little di di di

lilsolsman 10-25-2005 01:12 PM

I like them. Fevers and Mirrors is great. Lifted & I'm Wide Awake were solid.

something vague 10-25-2005 01:21 PM
Yeah. I'm Wide Awake and It's Morning is pretty decent too. I have to agree 90% of Digital Ash.. is worse than terrible and for some reason he decided to tour it not I'm Wide Awake.
He did tour for I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning, but it wasn't quite as long as the Digital Ash in a Digital Urn tour, which I'm glad I didn't go see. All of the Bright Eyes albums that I own are great, except for that pesky Digital Ash, which just grows worse over time. There are a few decent songs on that, I guess.

morrissey 10-25-2005 04:32 PM

There are a couple good songs on Digital Ash, I just can't think of any.

Down a Rabbit Hole
Take It Easy (Love Nothing)
Ship in a Bottle

those are the only 3 songs that i can listen to without screaming in agony.

peaveyrules 10-25-2005 04:52 PM

I think most of his lyrics are absolutely amazing. I like some of his stuff as a whole, but some of the other stuff is just....not for me at all.

Little Man being Erased 10-25-2005 04:53 PM

I saw him on his I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning tour. It was quite disappointing. I've listened to Digital Ash in a Digital Urn once, maybe twice. I still like the other Bright Eyes albums I have though.

comptonasseddy 10-25-2005 05:04 PM

I like some bright eyes song like "lua" and "something vague" and most of the fevers and mirrors album. I think its more for the girls, my girlfriends in love with him and whenever she texts/emails me she always quotes songlyrics from some of his songs. I wonder how much pussy he gets, i bet he gets loads but turns it down because shes not the 1 etc..

I enjoy Easy/Lucky/Free. That's a good tune.

I like him.

Bright Eyes is really great.

TojesDolan 10-26-2005 03:44 PM

I started listening to Bright eyes because they're rather praised down there at S&L, and some of the best writers have their usernames influenced by their songs (APS and bowl of oranges).

At first I wasn't that attracted. It felt too...acoustic-y for me. But I got to the lyrics and it all pretty much resolved to yes, Conor writes amazingly.

yup.

S&L??

RollerQueen 10-26-2005 05:25 PM

Welcome to Alt/Indie, Tojes.

EDIT: S&L is Songwriting & Lyrics.

morrissey 10-26-2005 06:30 PM

Don't go there. We have enough crappy songwriting with RQ.

comptonasseddy 10-30-2005 06:54 AM

do you think he gets a lot of women like a pimp?
