Even Montana has The Decemberists.
Hmmm... I have to disagree. Meloy might be from MT, but I think my lovely state has dibs on the band as a whole. In addition, I'm going to pimp Elliott Smith (and Heatmiser), Quasi, Dolorean, The Dandy Warhols, Menomena, and I'm also going to claim the Shins, even though NM probably has the best claim to them as a band. We may not be Seattle, but Oregon (mainly Portland) puts out some good music.

Rock it Oregon!

PS
Since he's reportedly living in Oregon now, I'm also claiming Frank Black. We also have Floater and Everclear, although I'm not much into either band's music.

Senor_Whippy 10-15-2005 05:28 AM

I'm gonna Have to say The Cribs cause they live 10 minutes away from me in Wakefield,West Yorkshire and as you tell by my avatar,I love them!

superpeer 10-15-2005 10:16 AM
Axelle Red!
Eh. It's nice to listen to once in a while, but I wouldn't call myself a big fan.

BigDaveUGA 10-15-2005 10:33 AM

I'm in Georgia so I'm gonna go with Butch Walker, Sevendust, Cartel and The Allman Brothers.
The Get Up Kids and Veda
Right, Veda. I forgot they were from KC, though I wouldn't really call them a favorite band anyway. Are you talking MO or KS?

Oh, and how could I forget Chuck Berry? He's a St. Louis native.

I always thought you were from Boston, or at least New England, for some reason.
Joy Division/New Order, the only good band ever from Stockport. Pretty amazing tho, you should all learn to play shadowplay by joy division.
I live near Stockport! :O

You could also have Muse's drummer, he was born there, if that counts.

Also, Joy Division were from Salford although they did record Unknown Pleasures in Strawberry Studios in Stockport.

surfkauai 10-15-2005 03:58 PM

Hot Snakes and Tom Waits are both from San Diego, so they win.

Anxious 10-16-2005 07:50 PM

California has produced many many great bands. I'd go with the Minutemen.

Also Tom Waits, and Frank Zappa all lived and grew up within 2 miles of me. I still choose Minutemen :)

AndreTheHyena 10-17-2005 12:49 AM

I'll go with that I think. Quite partial towards INXS though (despite the INXS rockstar thing).

I suppose from Sydney, Wolfmother. I really don't know actually.
