If anybody has any rep left over, please "neg-rep" me. I think my posts are of sufficient quality.

Thanks in advance!

I'm sure I've posted something that deserves rep, but I can't think of anything...
Thanks NoFX for reccomending me for the Quiz, you deserve rep for it too:)

****, looks like I haven't posted anything worthwhile in ages...:upset:
Anyway Ubermensch and Ashman deserve rep for this I already got some rep for it a while ago...

DBoons Ghost 09-13-2005 02:25 PM

Isn't this like solicitiing?

What kind of bullcrap is this?

People can dole out rep, are you that desperate to give people rep, that you would come in here and make them beg for it?

Who allowed this?

Well a lot of people are reccomending others for rep... And the idea is that there are a lot of good posts in here but they tend not to get repped because very few of the regulars here can rep.

denboy 09-13-2005 02:28 PM

I have some amazingly helpful posts in the community thread *cough*

DBoons Ghost 09-13-2005 02:31 PM

More fucking intarweb circle jerking attention whoring.

Count me out. I could care less about the bullshit rep system as it is.

Spammers and attention whores have rep. The fact that pit posters have more rep than those who do a great deal in the instrumental areas of this forum should be proof enough that it's a broken device meant only to feed the pathetic circle jerking that goes on here daily.

If anyone does give me rep, I'd neg rep every spammer who has it. So be warned.

Stupid cyber nonsense.

Why is that?

Who has rep?

Pit posters? Are you kidding me? Mav can rep people. He don't. It ends there.

This is nonsense.

Why are you so cranky about this, D.Boon. Did you read Morrisey's first post? She's just not handing it out like candy. And she meant this to be for PNWI posters because she felt many are the best posters on site, but go unoticed. I've seen no circle jerking in this thread or people whoring for attention. Just fellow MX members saying, "hey, maybe this post I made is worthy of a little rep". Or maybe it's a post they feel good about in general. I've seeing no begging, whoring, or circle jerking. Just a few members with stars and rep to give out to some they may feel are overlooked and/or deserving. Is it terribly important? Certainly not. But nor is it the scam you make it out to be. All due respect.

morrissey 09-13-2005 02:51 PM

D. Boon, calm down. I'm trying to give good, helpful, intelligent, deserving users some e-reputation here. Is it important? Hell no. But if R&M users can get it at the turn of a dime I think it's only fair that some of the best more respected members on the site should get some - that's who was meant to get rep in the first place.

Of course stars don't mean anything, but while they're here we may as well try to work the system properly.

What would I have to gain by doing this? I already have stars, so it couldn't be that. I'm already respected by many users around this site, so it couldn't be that. There is nothing for me to gain.

DBoons Ghost 09-13-2005 02:51 PM

Morrisey has never posted in this forum.

What makes you think he's able to determine who gets rep based on anything other than other desperate members pleas of "LOOKITME!"

No one should be able to determine that themselves short of a mod of this forum. Morrisey is neither a mod of this forum, or a mod. He's never posted in here ever. Do you want that kind of person determining the reputation? Someone who can't possibly comprehend what's posted in here?

I won't say cranky, but it's annoying to me. The rep system is terribly implemented as is.

It's a popularity contest. Nothing more.

Why do it then?

What's the purpose? If Mav don't do it, or any of the other guys who mod in here, why would you?

DBoons Ghost 09-13-2005 02:54 PM

I mean no direct insult to you either morrisey.

I liked your Smiths writeup in the Alt/Indie forum. Excellent read.

I just don't get the angle of bringing that circle jerk into this forum.

Actually, I have posted countless times this forum, I just don't post often. I read it every day. There is no point in me posting if I can't contribute to this community, so I only post if I have something new to add to the discussion. Not that I need to justify it to you. I also don't need to justify why I'm not a mod. Here's the thing with the rep system - mods rep people who they feel are deserving. Hey, I was repped by the admin himself. And then I am vested with the power to rep people I feel are deserving. Every person I have ever repped is deserving of stars (as they are supposed to symbolise respect/helpfulness, no matter how flawed the system is, at the base that is what the point of the system), so I have done nothing wrong.

edit: I understand that rep is a popularity contest right now, and that's a bad thing. But that was the point of this thread - to rep people/posts that were unnoticed. If Mav/Zero/Med (and any other PNWI regulars with repping power) repped people more often, regular users wouldn't have to step in. I don't really see it as a big deal, I could understand if you were frustrated if I started a thread repping people for something ridiculous or stupid, but these are the kind of posts that rep was implented to reward in the first place!

morrissey 09-13-2005 03:00 PM
Why do it then?

What's the purpose? If Mav don't do it, or any of the other guys who mod in here, why would you?
Because there are so many people in this subforum who "deserve" stars, and they can't get them because their mods aren't repping enough (I know it's not a big deal at all, but still). Moreso than I deserve them, moreso than other people do.

Thanks for the comment about my Smiths FA. :-D

DBoons Ghost 09-13-2005 03:27 PM

OK. I pitched my fit for the day. I feel better.

Carry on.

Though I am glad you admit the truth with repping. It's silly to me. I see a lot of folks with stars abusing and flaming at every opportunity. That's not very helpful to me.

As well, you can see that most if not all in this thread who did come claiming their post deserved some rep more than likely didn't. It just causes more attention whoring.

I will never understand the nature of the cyber-ego. This whole shindig is like a case study in cyber-ethics or something. I wonder how many of these folks will vy for such overwhelming success and recognition in real life.

morrissey 09-13-2005 03:30 PM

I don't really care a bout the stars, I was just seeing if I was doing a good enough job in R&M to be able of receving a rep or even the smallest amount of respect, im not a attention whore at all, I have been recentley making writeups in R&M every day working on the things that I'm lacking, and I was just wondering if I was doing a good enough job to be able to ever consider rep.

I see your argument with this, IMO I think the rep system isn't to bad but I see how you would get annoyed, the stars don't matter to me that much I was just wondering my position, oh and I'm going to go make a writeup right now. Thanks.

And a lot of people lurk more than post in this forum because they're scared of someone biting their heads off.
