precisely. "leaving" threads are pointless. 9 times out of 10 the person still comes back to occasionally post, or they come back all together. it's not like MX is a job you must commit to, it's not an obligation, it's not required that you post a certain amount per day. internet forum, internet community, call it what you will; but it's not like you have to be all or nothing for this place. no one said you can't occasionally post or read, and no one said you have to post a thousand times a day. it's the internet, move at your own pace.
well most people that make those threads are unkown ... and are in turn just doing it so they get noticed.

i think quatre is doing it cause hes a very well known and respected member of these forums and has enough curtosy to let us know hes leaving rather than just leaving without a word and never coming back

TheIdiotBox 08-27-2005 05:00 AM

I thought these threads were illegal?

Anywho, good luck in the future Josh :thumb:

EDIT: Nope, they're not. My mistake.
"Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened." - Dr. Seuss

This is going to be my last post, I feel its time for me to move on, and get serious about my playing, my life, and my education. I'm glad to have met many of you via this forum, truly too many to name. I decided that if I wasn't Modded then i would leave, and fate has delt me the shorter straw. I'm not leaving on a grudge, i honestly feel its time for me to go.

Thank you for the time spent on this board, and I hope the impact I had on this forum mattered to any of you. I Sincerely ask the current mods of this forum to have my account IP banned.

thank you

If anything, the fact that he left with 9,999 makes it more meaningful, I guess.

In what way, I cannot explain too well.

super deluxe 08-27-2005 10:31 AM

Have fun, man. I am still expecting updates on the Steinberger and the Schroeder, so you can't entirely stop talking to me.

I can: If he left with 10,000, you'd be like, "Oh, that's clever!" By leaving wtih 9,999, he took us by surprise and we'll remember it longer because we'll always ask ourselves, "Why didn't he post just ONE more time? The postcount he wanted, 10k, was only one post away!"

it also gives a sense of continuum. when you see a number with alot of zeros in int you think completion, the 9999 is a cool number because it leaves your brain begging for just one more

bottlerocket 08-27-2005 10:35 AM

^ Mmmhmmm! Precisely!

I bet he loved that song Continuum...him and everyone else always yelled at me for disliking jaco's music :p

bottlerocket 08-27-2005 10:38 AM

^ Yeah, but Quatre was a true musician, so he'd always stand up for musical greats like Jaco, Clarke, etc.

I hope you didn't take it to heart. :)

Of course not, although I think clarke, hamm, or wooten or any of those guys was better than jaco (melodically).

But I'm not here to start a flame war.

Arrakakaka 08-27-2005 10:53 AM

Make you're 10,000th post before you leave

Another member lost to life.. Well, good luck man.

I guess, it states one fact.

That his work here is never done. That there would be one more thing he could say, to help us all get closer to the level that he works at.

As a person, and a musician, Josh will always have my utmost love and respect, becuase God, he deserves it!
