^^...
I prefer Dirk to Ben, that's just what it is - preference. I have equal respect for both of them, doing what they do, and they both have very distinct styles so to compare them both is a bit stupid IMO. |
Hey maseyrevo, I'm guessin english is not your first language? Did you fully read my post? You quoted what I said, and yet you still fugged it up. Re-read the last line you MORON, and think about who the TWAT really is...
...................... oh yeah sorry about kinda had a homer moment - it's just that i used to be so passionate about incubus's music and dirk bass playing - dirk leaving just kinda fu*ked everything up for me ! sorrya bout the abusive language and all it's just god............... i hate fu*king ben kenny man! |
It's cool, we all have our moments...

- **** the ****ing eurovision is on - turn the ****ing tv off...............no i have surcome to the ****ty euro drum beats and over the top dancing - hold up the guys are kinda like rhcp - anyone else watching this **** ? |
so i guess i never really figured out why Dirk Lance left Incubus.. was it his choice or did they not want him anymore or what?? anyways..anyone hear the rumor that incubus is rerecording Fungus Amongus with Ben Kenney?? hell yea!
he left because you touch yourself at night |
Incubus=crap
Incubus has degenerated into a bunch of whiny pop-rockers. I used to spin SCIENCE at parties and eveeryone would be down; now when I listen to their new crap I wanna fall asleep standing up. Anyone notice that when they booted Lyfe their style just went straight down hill? And ditching Jim Wirt and Terry Date after SCIENCE was a horrid artistic decision. Those two (especially Wirt) were like Bill Bilichik to the Pats. Amazing band with them, average without. I guess producers DO matter! O well we'll always have their old albums....(sigh)
|
he proably realized how much they fu.cking suck.
|
Ben is a good bassist but he cant play Dirks lines so he tries to make his own to certain shade of green and other songs from science and they really dont compare to Dirks.
Im still crossing my fingers that dirk will start a new band |

Ben is more melodic, you can really tell he plays guitar, while dirk is more rhytmic, but that doesnt mean Ben cant Groove and Dirk cant write a melody, because they both can. I dont find many of Dirk or Bens lines hard to play, but i enjoy playing Bens lines alot more, Ben is actually my favorite bassplayer, but im a more groove oriented bassplayer, but im still in my infancy, so things can change. ACLOM shows alot of growth for the band, it might not make sense when you just hear the album but if you watch the DVD it really hits you if it hadnt before, Incubus is pretty **** dope, and Ben fits in well. Ben is a great musician, listen to his solo album if you dont believe it, he's Playing in 3 bands at once + solo stuff, he's a very buisy and very talented man, and im sick of people dogging him because he doesnt slap, slappings not the end all. theres more before, and more after it then there is during it, and people tend to forget that. |
If he was as good of a bass player as Dirk he would be able to play the bassline from 'Certain Shade'...but it is hard to play. And Dirk wasn't a slappy only. Listen to SCIENCE with the bass up.

Why are you trying to make this, Dirk vs Ben, when its not. If Incubus believes Ben Kenney is their Man, then he is their man, Dirk lance is not, why are you whining about something you have no control over. The fact of the matter is Ben Kenney is Incubus's Bassplayer, like it or not, you dont have to listen, Ben is more then a bassplayer, but when does play bass his style is different then dirks, so you cant even compare them. |
its stupid when people think ben is worse than dirk just because he doesnt slap.
ben kenney had added his own touch to dirks basslines and has given the songs a different feel, i like what he has done with them, i also like what dirk did, its just a different approach to the basslines. |

Oi, another...
he didint go into politics, he is part of stickman entertainment. http://www.stickman.tv/ He left due to problems with him and brandon + some probable musical differences. IMO, i dont think dirk would go for the new style they've turned to... they're not re-recording fungus amungus with ben... thats silly . * oh, as for the dirk Vs. ben thing.. IMO, dirk is funkier and has my rythem and groove.. which does fit their old style better. But with the new style, Ben's more harmonical style fits this new stuff. Just becuase he used to play guitar for another band, doesnt mean he cant play bass?.. it makes him that much more experienced. personally, i think that ben adds nice new flavor to the band.. his variations of finger + pick playing is neat. If you dont like ben, i suggest you pick up Alive at the Red Rocks DVD... that changed my view on Ben.. dont get me wrong, i love dirk. He's why i play bass. Listening to SCIENCE got me inspired... i miss the old stuff. But times change. :thumb: -sixner |

Why would you bump this thread my friend?
The issue is long dead. |
not as such...Listen to 'Drive' then Listen to 'Southern Girl', and you'll realise that ben and dirk aren't as un-alike as you think...
|
Wow. May flashbacks.
