John Mayer - Split Screen Sadness

Durden 05-14-2005 06:20 AM

Radiohead - Street Spirit. It's basically a montage of a bunch of depressing scenes.
Radiohead - Creep. But only really when it's acoustic.

There are a bunch other which are sad to me, but this is all I can think of as universally sad right now...

Nra4ever_17 05-14-2005 10:18 AM

Interpol-Obstacle 1

Especially if you see the video, in which the band accidentally kills a girl at the end.

seth86 05-14-2005 12:00 PM

Blur - good song

thirdeyeblindislit 05-14-2005 01:05 PM

Another sad song I think is "Lullaby" by Lit

AndreTheHyena 05-14-2005 01:32 PM
"Last Kiss" is a cover song; it was originally written by some guy who really did lose his girlfriend/wife in a car accident. It was the only song he ever wrote.
If I could rep you, I would. No one ever acknowledges that, always giving credit to PJ. Word.

AndreTheHyena 05-14-2005 02:11 PM

Definitely. The original is outstanding.

lilsolsman 05-14-2005 04:17 PM

Almost every song by Elliott Smith.

For example;

The Biggest Lie
or
Happiness (these lyrics are so without hope, it makes me sad :( )

cap 05-14-2005 04:39 PM

Although every song by Smith is a depressing/saddening experience. I'd say King's Crossing, a summation of the state of the world and his life. Especially the line "Gi'me one reason not to do it"

The Reincarnation Of Hendrix 05-14-2005 04:55 PM

Definately "No Distance Left To Run" or "Battery In Your Leg" by Blur They're so amazing but really sad at the same time

thirdeyeblindislit 05-15-2005 02:46 PM

What about that song by straylight run, "E on prom night"

still_ur_heart 05-15-2005 08:42 PM

yeah that song is pretty good....not really sad, but it's good. The title is sad, cause unless you are ms. popular at the prom with the guy everyone wants to be with, Existensialism is a big issue on your mind. I drove home from prom with year at 2 am....all the windows down, just singing to some old 80's pop songs....it was lame, I know.
I'm gonna have to say
Konstantine by Something Corporate
or The Tide and Your Evil Soul by The Spill Canvas
The Spill Canvas is an amazing band and everyone should listen to those two songs and then go and get the CD....or buy the CD first, you wont be saddened

Dextomethorphan 05-15-2005 09:05 PM

A lot of stuff by hte Smashing Pumpkins. I know people have mentioned them a few times already. I'm suprised no one has mentioned Tears in Heaven by Eric Clapton, seeing as how it was written to his son who passed away. It always makes me think of my friend who died and I'll admit I sometimes almost cry when I hear it.

RollerQueen 05-15-2005 09:54 PM

I got dumped three days before my senior prom. I spent prom night at work. At the time, the first verse of Mineral's "Parking Lot" and the whole of "Slower" and "If I Could" were playing through my mind. They're still excellent songs.

ZastOne 05-16-2005 06:53 AM
Joe Strummer/Johnny Cash - Redemption Song (originally Bob Marley)
Amazing version of that. I actually like it better than the original.

Joy Division - She's Lost Control. Not really sad, but very dark.

progressive 12-08-2007 09:18 PM
