Boersch 12-07-2004 09:26 PM

Anyone got slayers war at a warfield DVD, think its called that. Its bloody awesome i love the bloodline videoclip. Slayer RULE!!

thrash-attack 12-07-2004 09:38 PM

war at the warfield was awesome. especially when they played postmortem then continued with raining blood, and then continued with hell awaits.

Lieutenant Dan 12-07-2004 09:44 PM

hanneman's lyrics > kings lyrics
hanneman's solos > kings solos
hanneman > king

thats just my opinion, though.

dracma 12-07-2004 09:48 PM

bloodline has a great riff , raining blood a classic and the new DVD is the best **** ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hanneman kiks king ***!!!!!!!--------->my opinion!

Itwasthatwas 12-07-2004 10:49 PM

Hallowed Point has to be my favorite Slayer song... the riffage and soloing on that song owns the other stuff I've heard by them.

Freezing Moon 12-07-2004 10:58 PM

Dead Skin Mask

That song scared the **** out of me the first time I heard it because it was 1 in the morning and I wasn't exactly expecting the wierd voices near the end.

King > Hanneman, but neither make great solos... I've heard they know almost no theory, and judging by the solos I don't doubt it.

slaytalica25 12-07-2004 11:35 PM

my fav song by them would probably be angel of death and my favorite riff would be the main riff from disciple.

CreepingBlack 12-07-2004 11:37 PM

Slayer rules, but it is true, Araya has lost it. He sings terrible, and ruins the songs live. Just watch WATW, and you'll see.

You get used to the voices after awhile. *who said that??*. That song, despite being a bit more melodic contains a sh1tload of solos.

kris_axemaster 12-08-2004 05:09 AM

Yer i got war at the warfield, and the high scream at the start of angel of death is miserable and poor.....

kris_axemaster 12-08-2004 05:10 AM

the dvd is amazing though... the wierd drunk guy with the beer is awesome!!!!!!!

The Crown 12-08-2004 05:34 AM

I think the album "Hell Awaits" has more to it than any of the others. Instead of modifing or extending the central riffs of the song, Hell Awaits creates an eveloping phrase of awesome riffs that connects each to the next unleasing the brutality that is slayer.

Favorite riffs include:

Blood Red 0:17-0:31
Expendable Youth 0:34-0:54
War Ensemble 2:14-2:34
Cleanse the Soul 1:54-2:15
Ghosts of War - 1:52-2:22

Bugger this i'll be up all night. Thats Seasons and half of South of Heaven.

The Crown 12-08-2004 05:43 AM

BTW It's funny that Araya can't sing anymore, he used to be a respiratory therapist so you'd think he'd know how to take care of his own voice.

kris_axemaster 12-08-2004 05:43 AM

i know... the songs go in phases.... altar of sacrifice is the best for that

kolin666 12-08-2004 05:48 AM

his vocals werent that bad when a saw them last oct

Stubb (a dubb) 12-08-2004 08:14 AM
I have War at the Warfield, but not the new one. I don't think I'm gonna get it, though. His vocals in WatW were, very sadly, very bad. The years old belting out screams and yells has taken its toll on his voice. When the (attempted) the scream from Angel of Death, you know, THE scream, it hurt me to listen to it because its sooo bad. He can't hit ANY high notes now.
he was just having a bad show, he did awsome when i saw him a few months ago,

kolin666 12-08-2004 08:28 AM

exactly, jst a bad day. cue r.e.m. song

evil ernie 12-08-2004 08:50 AM

I really like 213. The rest of Divine Intervention isn't that good though.

_HiGhVoLtAgE_ 12-08-2004 09:01 AM

slayer bitch

big 12-08-2004 09:56 AM

i was really surprised at the negative feedback slayer got in the mustaine and king are a bunch of emo punks thread so i went on a little baby tit fit and posted a really stupid comment and got soooo neg repped! but yes it is true slayer are amazing, except kings solos ramble on a lot.....anyway....SLAYER!!!!!!

metal sh*t 12-08-2004 10:58 AM

raining blood and angel of death are awesome

metal sh*t 12-08-2004 11:00 AM

kerry king, jeff haneman and dave lombardo are great

Daywalker 12-08-2004 11:17 AM

^^^True indeed. I just watched their live DVD "Still Reigning" last night. I wondered why it was only $12.99, until I watched it. They play the entire Raining Blood album and about six other songs. All together totalled no more than 45min. It was a good show, but it just seemed really short...

SLATANIC-666 12-08-2004 11:20 AM
his vocals werent that bad when a saw them last oct
His vocals were awful at Donington in June, I'm certain he lipsinked(sp.) because he couldn't even talk let alone sing and scream. I think Kerry had to say a few words at the end but I'm not sure. Hot weather and copias amounts of alcohol are not a good mixture.

big 12-08-2004 11:36 AM

Araya has been having loads of trouble with his throat and voice lately didnt it pack in completely at a show not so long ago?

SLATANIC-666 12-08-2004 12:39 PM

^^ Yeah at a show in Germany about a 2 months ago I'm sure I read.

shadow_stalker 12-08-2004 01:04 PM

reign in blood and seasons in the abyss (great song)

CreepingBlack 12-08-2004 01:17 PM
Slayer are fvcking awesome. You wouldn't think it though looking at my username, subtitle or avatar . Anyway, the new DVD still reigning is superb, Daves drumming is as good as ever, Toms vocals, despite a few bad reviews of recent times were pretty good too, Jeffs solos were excellent as always although he did have some problems towards the end of the show but I'm sorry to continue the torrent of King bashing but his solos just didn't take form of anything on Reign in Blood, they sounded more like stuff off Diabolus and GHUA.
To name a top 5 list of Slayer songs is impossible because you really are spoiled for choice but I have phases with Slayer where I'll really be into later stuff from Divine, Diabolus and GHUA but more often I'm into the older stuff. At the moment though i'm into one song in particular which is War Ensemble, probably because I was playing it on guitar the other day but I know that in a short space of time I'll be really into some other song, Chemical Warfare say.
That's what's great about Slayer, they've got that much great material it's very hard to lose interest.
oh all the mx'ers, if i had to pick one ultimate slayer fan, it'd be you.

CreepingBlack 12-08-2004 01:20 PM

favorite riffs by slayer?

1. Raining Blood(of course)
2. Angel of death (all the fast parts)
3. South of Heaven (better live)
4. Silent Scream
5. End of Chemical Warfare
6. Hell Awaits (slayer's best song)

hex135 12-08-2004 01:26 PM

I love the riff after the solo on "Criminally Insane". Anyone know what im talking about?? so f*ckin heavy

big 12-08-2004 01:32 PM

^^^

if its the riff that im thinking about now. which i think it is then yes it kicks proverbial butt!

ToRidTheDisease 12-08-2004 03:22 PM

I love Araya's voice now.

**** right it is. \m/

ekajsk8er 12-08-2004 04:20 PM

raining blood is there best riff and i also like the intro to black magic

p.s 6 or 7 slayer riffs are all tabbed out in this months guitar world if ya need help with them :thumb:

Thor 12-08-2004 04:39 PM

I think Slayer is an awesome band, if not the best metal band of the 80s. My favorite songs by them are Raining Blood, Angel of Death, War Ensemble, and Cast Down.

Spirit_In_Black 12-08-2004 06:36 PM

top 6 slayer songs:

1. RAINING BLOOD
love the storm in the intro, amazing riff, could of done with a better solo though

2. ANGEL OF DEATH
i still remmeber the first time i heard the solo at the end i was stunned, and the lightning fast riff in the intro !

3.GHOSTS OF WAR
gotta love this song it rules

4.STAIN OF MIND
abosolute heaviness, love the lyrics and the riff, but the solo on it, like the solo in bloodine (thopguh not as bad) is ****ty, great chorus though

5.DEAD SKIN MASK
good riff and the intro gives it an eerie feel and it has a great chorus!

6.SOUTH OF HEAVEN
it first captured me with the "unforseen future nestled somewhere in time' bit at the start, its so effective when he goes BEFORE YOU SEE THE LIGHT - YOU MUST DIE!!!!!!

Spirit_In_Black 12-08-2004 06:37 PM

they have heaps of other great songs too, like bitter peace, hell awaits, spirit in black, seasons in the abyss, bloodline, spill the blood and more
