I'm not even going to ask how a 2004 thread was bumped.

I like rush, pretty good, but I'm not a "fan" of the vocals, although they're not bad as most people say.
I know It's all about the fingers, but where one of mine go, the rest go! The only way I might be able to finger-play is with the index and pinky, but my pinky's too weak.
Cliff Burton usually played with his index and pinky too. So yea, go for it. :D Although you'll need the rest of the fingers sooner or later probably.

I love Rush. Geddy's vocals don't actually bother me; I find that if I like a band with not-so-great singing, but I love the music enough, I can look past it to enjoy the music.

2112 Overture is such an amazing song, it's so epic.

My two favorite Rush songs are Limelight and Closer To The Heart. My friend showed my a video of them doing Closer To The Heart live, it was nuts! Geddy is so amazing on bass. Plus Neil Peart is an absolute beast behind a drumkit.

can anyone recommend some songs where neil peart shines? i've heard so much about him and i took a gander at 2112 and "the best of rush" CD's but his drumming to me, isn't particularly spectacular. it's much better than most, but im stil trying to see his awesomeness.

La Villa Strangiato has awesome performances on the part of all band members, not just Peart.

which album is that on? or is that an album? im really not too well versed in rush

i love Geddy's vocals. i love that strange vibrato/tremelo that he does on songs like "Something For Nothing".
YYZ is an unbeleivable instrumental, has anyone heard Dream Theater's cover of it? Mind Blowing!
Man, I hate when Dream Theater do covers. They always sound EXACTLY like the original, but faster.

And to the man who asked which album La Villa Strangiato is on, that would be Hemispheres.

think we could just do rush threads in here?

I love La Villa Strangiato...

and as for drumming... check out a couple of his drum solos...

The solo on Rush In Rio is called O Baterista, and the solo on R:30 is called Der Trommler, if you're interested. Perhaps you could download them or something. They're fairly similar, just with different structures and a few different parts, but they're pretty good.
