It was on some movies thread in The Pit. It went like this
I love you br3ad_man

 I don't get whats going on!

Just declaring my hidden love for you

Oh ok, in that case I love you too
I dont really remember it, but that was the general vibe of it.

We've* totally killed this thread

Trip Hop =
I'm just listening to Lamb's self-titled album for the first time. It's good stuff, so far.
I'd say Lamb's first two albums (s/t and Fear Of Fours) are the only ones really worth having. But I've never heard a Lamb album in full - I have a nasty habit of getting corrupted files, encoded viruses, or nasty scratches with their albums. :(

Tapeworm 11-05-2004 10:17 AM

The newest album (Between Darkness and Wonder) is quite awesome in my opinion. 'Till the clouds clear' is one ofmy favourite Lamb songs, and it has a very nice feel to it. I really dig What Sound as well, because it has a calmer, more electronic feel to it. Lamb are one of my favourite artists ever.

Eccles 11-05-2004 12:15 PM

Portishead's Dummy is one of my top all-time albums.

Well I'm pretty sure that what I have is sound, so you could get it from me if you like.

enjoy_cai 11-06-2004 06:38 AM

i think dj shadow's endtroducing is still the number 1 trip-hop album of all time :p

Tiamatty 11-06-2004 07:22 AM

Portishead is my favourite band, though I prefer "Portishead" to "Dummy" - probably because I heard that one first. I guess the first album someone hears by Portishead is always their favourite.
I'm really getting into Hungry Lucy now, who define themselves as trip-hop. They're an underground American band with some awesome songs.
Trip-hop, for the most part, is something I like without getting excited about. I'll listen to it, but I'm not big on it. Very danceable genre, though.

LoveToSkank 11-12-2004 09:51 AM

pardon my ignorance but I'm a fan of the Gorillaz and was under the impression that they are Trip-Hop. Have I been too influenced by MTV or is that correct?

Iai 11-12-2004 05:08 PM

They have elements of trip-hop. Mainly due to the involvement of Dan The Automator.

I downloaded Mezzanine, it's ok, I guess trip hop doesn't appeal to me

Bartender 11-16-2004 09:26 PM

Fair enough. A bit of a shame, not really a problem though.

Just wanted to say that Becoming X is a great album:thumb:

Too bad they ditched the female singer soon after..

Iai 11-17-2004 09:53 AM

Becoming X is fantastic.

SalomeHigher 11-18-2004 03:43 PM

i really like portishead's live album.

this is a little different, but cypress hill's 'temples of boom' is really trippy, and i like it.

MetalMan882 11-28-2004 03:40 PM

This thread deserves to be revived.

I'm suprised Sharpshooters hasn't been mentioned yet. They're more hip-hop with a trip-hop feel.

When will you be doing that, because I want to do one as well :D

Kaden 11-28-2004 06:13 PM

I just ordered Unkle's Psyence Fiction and Tricky's Masinquaye (or whatever)

Christopher Walken's #1 Fan 11-29-2004 09:33 PM

I'm trying to get a classmate into trip-hop. What should I put on the Mix CD?

Christopher Walken's #1 Fan 11-29-2004 09:35 PM

So far I have Risingson, Teardrop, Exchange and Angel by MA
and Sour Times, Mysterons, Biscuit and Pedestal by Portishead.

My FG is gonna take a while (you'll see why). Feel free to do one in the interim. Mine'll probably be another week at least.

Get rid of Exchange and put Protection.

Add Radiohead's Talk Show Host. Then some Lamb, Tricky, Sneaker Pimps (Six Underground, I'd say), and throw in some Buck 65 just in case. Oh, and DJ Shadow is a must.

LordDargon 11-30-2004 07:46 AM

When are you guys going to do one of these on Experimental Hyper Ultra Brutal Death Metal?

Iai 11-30-2004 02:23 PM

Why don't you do one?

manuscriptreplica 12-01-2004 02:03 AM

So you can do technical death metal in this forum?

Zing

Happymeal 12-01-2004 06:16 AM

Is Protection underrated? I don't see it mentioned very often here, and me peeps back home seem to like it more than Mezzanine.

talk show host 12-01-2004 08:32 AM

There are some great songs on Protection like 'Karmacoma' and 'Eurochild' but I don't think it's on a par with Mezzanine or Blue Lines as a whole.

Iai 12-02-2004 09:50 AM

Tricky - Black Steel, You Don't Wanna
Sneaker Pimps - Six Underground
Buck 65 - 463, The Centaur
DJ Shadow - Stem/Long Stem

Lamb, I ain't that big on.

Try Morcheeba - World Looking In, too.

Happymeal 12-03-2004 06:04 AM

Lamb - Gorecki

edit: to Christopher Walken

Concrete Rapture 12-05-2004 08:42 AM

On the subject of Sneaker Pimps;
Becoming X is NOT the definitive, nor even representitive album. It features Kelli on vocals. Kelli was only on the one album, and that was the worst they have released, being like a sub-par Massive Attack. Splinter, their 1999 album features guitarist Chris Corner on vocals, as does 2003's Bloodsport. Both of these are a better standard and more original than Becoming X (quick guide; Becoming X = female vocals, Splinter & Bloodsport = not).

Also, check out Chris's solo album, IAMX - Kiss & Swallow ( www.iamx.co.uk ).
It's sleazy, dirty trip-hop-ish electro stuff, and top quality.

First post. Hello.

I disagree. Kelli's vocals are great, and the band miss them on later efforts. Splinter is definitely worth having, mind. I wasn't too keen on Bloodsport. Though it's a while since I heard either of the last two - I only have them on tape.
