I thought the same thing about Cedric for about a week...let it sink in.
The only song where Ben has a good voice would be in "Nothing To Lose".
guys this is the official SUM 41 thread, if you want to talk about billy talent please open a new thread
I couldn't really stand Sum 41 in the least for the longest time, but with the release of their new album...I have become very very impressed. I enjoy the new almost metal like approach they took on Chuck...it's something else. And the soloes in the Bitter End...wow...I had to check and make sure I was still listening to Sum 41. It's a pop punk band with talent....who knew it was possible.
FIRST GAME!!!
Name 5 Sum 41 songs with more than 20 second solos.
All of them you retard!!!!!!!!!!!!! The older ones any way |
ok... here's an easy one. Name all of Sum 41's songs where the whole band takes on the lyrics.
Uh, I think motivation has all of them singing, I didn't really listen to the songs back then, but I think in the video it showed all of them singing
Maybe its a matter of taste, but....his voice is still awful, I dont understand how anyone can say he has a good singing voice....it makes me want to give a cigarette to a baby.
I think he's a great singer. Some people like Claudio from Coheed, I think his voice is terrible. Some people don't like Monday In London's singer, I think he's one the best in music. It's a matter of taste. |
Thank you Bleed the Sky, now against you i think Claugio has a good voice for the music they play, its a matter of opinion, and Deryck sings so it will fit their music
I do like Deryck's voice.
It's not like it's anything special or anything, it just fits really well. And the drummer in "Thanks For Nothing" sounds quite cool. |
To TheBassicBassist: yes, in part i did.
Billy Talent are just a great band. And, i think it doesnīt exist a Sumīs song where they all sing, cause Cone doesnīt sing in anyone, maybe Nothing on my back, but Stevo doesnīt sing it... |
^ yeah Cone never sings on the albums, but he'll do backup live. Anyway, i haven't been a huge fan of sum 41 until recently. i just couldn't get into all killer, but now with the new single and hearing stuff from DTLI, i really like them again. which cd would you suggest to get first, DTLI or Chuck?
which cd would you suggest to get first, DTLI or Chuck?
I would get Chuck first, and DTLI second out of the two, but I don't think there's really any reason to get one before the other |
yeah, I think cone only does background vox in one song, and I believe its at the same time as Dave. Steve only does lyrics in Fat Lip, Thanks For Nothing, Pain For Plessure, WWVII part 2, Reign In Pain (Heavy Metal Jamboree) that I have heard or can think of right now, and I don't think cone does background in any of them
which cd would you suggest to get first, DTLI or Chuck?
If you really mind the order, you should get first Half Hour of Power. You can hear the teeny lousy voice of Deryck but itīs a GREAT album. |
yeah if I was choosing from all four albums I would have to go for HHOP first, I got AKNF first though, not my choice, it was just the first one I could get ahold of. But of the two that the question was asked about, my previous answere remains the same.

Does anyone know what a mellotron is? I can't figure it out, and I've never heard of it before. If you don't have the new album yet, it says: Biz - sings, piano, keyboards, and mellotron.
No idea, but on the bottom of page, it says "this album is dedicated to our friend Chuck Pelleiter." and goes on about how he saved them though, i only just noticed, so it deffintely named after him.

yeah, I respect that guy for saving their lives,
Chuck, That was a ritious thing man. |
ok now that I've been to mellotron . com, and now that I know that its a keyboard of sorts, I still have no idea what it is, Does it produce a style of mellowness, or does it sound like elecronic keyboards
I have no clue. I looked for a discription but I couldn't find one.
thanks anyway man, I guess I'll have to go to some music store and find out
Is CHUCK an enhanced CD? I read a review, but when I pop the CD into my computer it just plays the songs.
The one I bought for *TEN BUCKS* wasn't enhanced. No bonus tracks or anything. I'm forced to download them... Oh well.
Its enhancment isn't anything special, its just an application to get into their new and improved Goon Platoon if you haven't already. So if it doesn't come up when you put it in your computer, then don't worry about it.
Is CHUCK an enhanced CD? I read a review, but when I pop the CD into my computer it just plays the songs.
Yeah, some are, mine is, it has the making of "we're all to blame" its like a 30 min video, and also has a bonus track. |
dude thats not fair at all, I'm gonna go out and buy another copy of Chuck and get that making of video
hey untitled258, what is the bonus song called???

A mellotron is a keyboard with an effect. The intro to strawberry fields by the beatles is done on a mellotron. After listening to the new album Chuck i was very disappointed. Their Single We're All To Blame is the best song on the album by far. The rest of the album is unoriginal, predictable nu metal. The intro to the album is also one of the only good parts of the album. DTLI is a much better album, no question. Im surprised all of you are giving praise to this generic crap. Sum 41 is a great band (especially live) but they did a horrible job on this album. Keep in mind this is all imo. |
For an MTV band, this is a huge step forward.
I would hardly say nu-metal...metal influenced pop-punk. Or pop-punk influenced metal depending on the track. |
its officially been labeled rock, and there is no way We're All To Blame is the best song on there, but thank you for telling me what a mellotron is, I don't listen to the beatles
We're All To Blame is great and i'm trying to get this thread back up near the top of the first page were it needs to be!
agreed, people aren't posting in here enough, I feel like I'm the only one posting
Hey Untitled258, what is the bonus song called dude??? |
There great, up there with blink and greenday for my fave band, but i think Does this look infected is better then Chuck. Dont get me wrong, its a great album, but i prefer the 3rd.
Hey Untitled258, what is the bonus song called dude???
Noots, i think its a bonus one. |
i saw sum 41 in seattle it was awsome sum 41 best band ever.
oh, noots yeah I got that one on a special vinyl that i got for pre-ordering the cd
wierdhead3, you have very good taste |
I saw sum41 in manchester, nearly 2 years ago now, with American H-fi, and The Mighty Mighty Bosstones. There were great, Daves guitar kept shorting out though, so deryk(sp) made a little song about it. Also some guy threw a bottle and it cover Bizzy in water, so they got him up stage, and him and this guy had a water fight on stage. This guy was so much taller then him though, but Cone and Dave sunk up behind him and soaked him threw. Ahh good times.
i like chuck...
