and yeah, they seem much rougher than Vic Firths, which i normally use. Used the Vic 5Bs for years now no probs, needed some sticks at band practice once so brought the only ones they had, Pro Mark 5B's, and it was hell. Theyre no where near as smooth as the vics;

That should never happen, regardless of the sticks you're using.

Get a teacher.

I had one, i had a local teacher for 2 years, then went onto a few lessons with Andy Edwards a few years back. Since then I've played in two bands, recorded 3 ep's, and one full length album. I'm in my 8th year of drumming.

Thats the only time thats ever happened, my hands are usually fine. I've been playing for more than long enough to critique my own technique, and I'm pretty sure thats not the problem.
