I love it when i find a person whos never seen my bass before :)
Ill get rid of the 3 way switch for the neck humbucker and replace with the kill for the precision (because i never use it, actaully i might just hardwire that pickup to the output) and get rid of the 3 way for the bridge pickup because i never use that either :p
dude............... *steals Atomicant's bass* are you sure you want to mess around with it? I'd take it to your music shop and let them do it man, I only did it on a $200 strat rip off, not on something like yours |

It used to look like that- Yeah, i think ill mess around with it :) Although someone stole my multi-meter so i might wait a while :( |
Okay, finally finished the mod. I ended up wiring a new wire from the centre lug on the volume pot to the "power in" lug on the switch, and then I attached another wire going from the "accesory 1/on 1" lug on the switch, and grounded it on the volume pot casing. this.... did it. finally. however, I think some of my soldering wasn't too flash, as I've got a bit of extra hum that I didn't have before, so if you ARE going to put in a killswitch, make sure that you can solder really well first. Oh, and also - make sure you have a SHARP chisel for gouging the hole out of the body, it makes the job sooo much easier
"The Hole....." The finished product: works well, except for the hum. Am now working on playing "Know your enemy", but it's a lot harder than it looks, you nearly need a drummer's co-ordination to get the technique right.... |
don't. cut. any. wire. instead, just buy a new piece. then taking the white wire, attach the switch to that, and another piece of wire going out. means it literally works a basic switch.

yeah, I learnt that the hard way. So I just added an extra wire from the centre volume lug to the in lug of the switch, and then a wire from the out lug on the switch to a ground source. worked perfectly, apart from the hum. where we you before I started? :smash: |
I'd like a Killswitch (Buckethead ... ^-^) but first things first!
|
I've been thinking of doing this to my tele for a while... I'm too much of a pussy to carve into the body myself, i think i might see if i can get someone a bit better with woodwork to do it...
I was thinking a Push-to-break switch might make a good alternitive choice? So that you can just poke it when it's needed, and not have to worry about forgetting it's in the off position... |
^^^I think he wants the switch as it allows you to be more free with your rythms.
|
Is this the right switch for a kill switch? I have one, and it would be good if I didnt have to go get another.
You want either a SPST (single pole single throw) or a SPDT (single pole double throw) |
Bummer.
|
Would this be right?

Yeah that's right. Just so you know, when you flip the switch to the left (picture oriented) the circuit will be live and everything will work. To the right kills it.
|
Thanks, I can go install now :)
We should keep this picture for future morons like me :) :( |
Success.
|
Just curious, where'd you mount yours at?
