what exactly are the specs for that?

and what do all the switches do...

Akira 05-11-2006 01:54 PM
oh damn didint notice that this was in the bass forums.. lol sorry sorry sorry
It's a shared guitar/bass forum.

neatobassman 05-11-2006 02:20 PM

we should get drum modifications in here too....because I know my drummer does and bunch of weird stuff to his drums like shallowing out shells, putting on different patterns of material on the shells and stuff like that.

hellonearth07 05-11-2006 03:08 PM

I'm guessing this forum's just general mod's and lutheiry
and i guess that includes everything from guitar to bass to drums to kazoo to harmonica and any other strange and abstract instrument u wanna play and mod out

semi 05-11-2006 03:10 PM

washboad

AG 05-11-2006 03:25 PM

I put LED's in my washboard a while back. It ruined the tone, just destroyed those second level harmonics.

hellonearth07 05-11-2006 03:26 PM

sadly, i've seen a page where someone played a kazoo through a wah pedal

Peg Dizzler 05-11-2006 04:00 PM

Lutherie is the making of wooden instruments. Drums apply!! :D

I'm actually gonna get a set soon I think, a real junky one, for $50. I haven't actually seen it yet but it has been described to me. So I'll probably mess around with that sometime... I'm guessing the shells are wrapped, so I'm sure eventually I'll take that off and lacquer 'em up sometime, mmm shiny. =)

AlmightyPancake 05-11-2006 09:22 PM

I'm guessing it's a compressor.

Dimarzio Will Power Neck>3 way switch (parallel/series/single-coil)>volume>first output

Dimarzio Model P>run in series> volume> tone> second output

Seymour Duncan MM replacement>3 way switch (parallel/series/single coil)> volume>tone> second output.

I should type this somewhere so i can just paste it here :p

semi 05-12-2006 03:11 AM

looks like a rangemaster i think.
i think he might have said it was too.

funkyhoney 05-12-2006 06:35 AM

this is my jazz project so far, next i plan to get some new pickups, or a pre-amp or something, maybe repaint it

(so far it's been defretted, and the brand sanded off and the headstock coated.. few pickup adjustments to)

the101er 05-12-2006 03:23 PM

My current project is pretty simple, just installing a Humbucker into a Telecaster, maybe routing for a tremolo. Not sure yet

BTW, does anyone have diagrams for the connection between the pickup switch and pickups for a Humbucker/Singlecoil?

Specialsauce 05-12-2006 07:49 PM

as soon as i get a workshop set up, i can start my eurb... prolly take a couple months though....

Son of Magni 05-13-2006 11:26 AM

Another project nearing completion, 6-string lined fretless with maple lines on the usual marked frets and purpleheart on the rest :)

Oh yeah, it's a dual-coil in the musicman position and piezo in the bridge.

hellonearth07 05-13-2006 11:56 AM

i like how you lined the fret board with purple heart and maple

that top sheet's beautiful too, love it

the only thing i think could be changed is the headstock right by the nut...IMO it looks a lil bit bulky and outta place

but still your basses are beautiful

superjoe 05-13-2006 12:14 PM
hey superjoe... what kinda effect is that? and what are the specs, if u dont mind
its a rangemaster copy, it boosts the highs and gives a light od, its mainly used for driving the hell out of a cranked tube amp. gives you that brian may, tony iommi, early clapton tone with a GOOD tube amp and some humbuckers.

the switch changes the input caps making it a full or treble booster. i forgot to buy the second input cap so right now its just a treble booster.
I'm guessing it's a compressor.
nope, but im building an orange squeezer compressor for my friend in about a week.

Akira 05-13-2006 12:37 PM

SoM, the bass is cool, but for some reason that headstock looks absolutely massive. It looks like it is as big as the body!

I figured as much. I really like that top. What is that?

It's claro walnut, and had a crotch running through the board. So there's all the twisted crotch wood expanding out into all the figured walnut. I got two basses, front and back, from the one board for which I paid something like $350. And enough scrap for a few more headstocks.

Peg Dizzler 05-13-2006 03:28 PM

Hey SoM,
How did you put the wood in the fretslots? Did you cut each piece out or did you just use glue and sawdust?
Also.. how fast do you build these things?

i built an orange squeeze, but all it does for me is boost the signal a lot. i can't figure out where i messed up.

I use veneer. Cut oversize pieces, glue them in, then trim off the excess with a chisel. Then clean it all up with a radius block.

Don't make my track the hours, I'd probably quit :p

Maybe 16 hours a week for 10 weeks, probably more.

Keeps me out of trouble...
