Alright people, I hear too many people going around playing brands they can't even pronounce, so I decided to make a thread where people write phonetically how the brand name is pronounced....

brands such as

hartke
behringer
ampeg
ibanez
aguilar
Gallien-Krueger
rickenbacker
and any others u can think of
I say:

Hart-key
Beh (as in the Be in Betty) - Ringer
Am-peg
Ee-ba-nez
A-gwih-lar
Ga-lee-un Crew-ger
Rick-un-backer

Rickenbacker is prounounced like J.S. Bach the composer.
Wouldnt GK be like galleon (like HP....as previously stated haha) kroy-gur?

And now the million dollar question:

pro-nown-see-ay-shun or pro-nun-see-ay-shun?

or pro-nun-sai-a-tee-ahn (pronunciation)
ee-ba-nez ..?

No i meant ee-ba-nez. I'm guessing the words origins are spanish, and the spanish pronounciation of I is ee.

the101er 01-21-2006 12:10 PM

Lay-Knee

erm...

DJDeath you're right, Ibanez were a Spanish company so it's most likely

bobbass4k 01-21-2006 08:56 PM

I always pronounced warwick war-wick but a few people i know pronounce it
wor-ick

I always thought the way i said it was right, warwick is a german company, and the lovely germans tend to strongly pronunciate syllables. But then i saw an interview with ryan martine and he pronounced it wor-ick so now im wondering which way is right?

Well if it is Spanish it would probably be more like ee-ba-nes, right? I don't think hard "z"s are common in Spanish, are they?

PainKiller8191 01-22-2006 01:51 PM
