Nopes. All I know is Letting the cables sleep, which I like but I'm not too familiar with anything else.

RunAmokRampant 01-17-2006 04:29 AM
Melodic hardcore sucks, imo. As does hardcore.
I don't mind either. Should listen to some Mindsnare or Terror. Good ol' fashioned hardcore at its best before it became popular. They're still going strong too IMO

pixiesfanyo 01-17-2006 05:53 AM

How about you listen to Jerome's Dream and get your skull fucking crushed.

ATC 01-17-2006 12:21 PM

I'll check out those bands listed.
Though to be fair, I'm not sure I have the energy to listen to enough to have my skull crushed. I find hardcore music makes for great live but not so great in-your-room sorta music. That's where all my prog/ambient/folk tastes kick in. Thanks for the recommendations, guys.

I used to listen to Bush when i was a lot younger, had 16teen stone and the next one, forget what it was called lol i think i still have it...

on a side note, i have the best remix to letting the cables sleep ever, like a nice trance/techno version made for Cafe Del Mar, (a cafe in ibiza spain known for its great music and wicked DJ's)

if you want to check it out i could hook you up with it its really ****ing good in my opinion..

As far as the rest goes, METAL!!! In Flames and Trivium rock and im thinking im gonna see them next month!!!! YEAA!

Jetpack 01-17-2006 01:33 PM
The only good metal band is Europe and they're not a metal band.
Hey Bronson. No dice.

That'll be awesome. I like Cafe Del Mar. Much appreciated.
Send it to anticarnation@gmail.com

I've diversified from metal over time. I don't listen to much of it anymore. I've gone the Kevin Moore way. Good luck with your concert. I've been offered tickets to that. Dunno if I'll go but yea. Concerts rock!

Disco Donkey 01-17-2006 02:02 PM

So, on a completely different note: my professor is retarded. He tried telling me that alternative music is the main reason for the propulsion of gay/bi-sexual acceptance in America. I hate him.

EDIT: Oh, and by the way, Bush rocked. F*ck all of you who say different.

RunAmokRampant 01-17-2006 09:14 PM

Hmmm and what does this "professor" teach?

ITRIEDVOODOOONCE 01-18-2006 06:57 AM

Close?

Not nu metal, just metal.

That being said, there are almost no good metal bands at all these days.

pixiesfanyo 01-18-2006 04:05 PM

Hey, this is closing tonight right.

I still need to edit my song.

Disco Donkey 01-18-2006 06:19 PM
Hmmm and what does this "professor" teach?
He teaches psychology. He is officially one of the stupidest people I have ever met.

And yes, this thing should close tonight.

Not if you look hard enough.
Not if you look hard enough.
Name some.

RunAmokRampant 01-18-2006 06:50 PM

Sikth, Ion Dissonance, Candiria, Dungeon, Five Star Prison Cell, Karnivool, Strapping Young Lad, Premonitions of War, Alarum, Lamb Of God.

Not all of them are traditional metal but who can tell these days?

SubtleDagger 01-18-2006 07:04 PM

LoG is heavily heavily heavily overrated.

Ion Dissonance is the only really good one I see there. And the fact that you mentioned Dungeon makes me laugh.

Aside from that, I did say "almost" after all.

pixiesfanyo 01-18-2006 07:05 PM

I'd have to second that. ^

Although Strapping Young Lad can be good like, once in a blue moon.

SubtleDagger 01-18-2006 07:06 PM

SYL is OK but lately I'm not liking them much.

hey let's talk on AIM and forum at same time gud dea.

RunAmokRampant 01-18-2006 07:12 PM

Is it Devin Townsend's hair?

SubtleDagger 01-18-2006 07:41 PM
Is it Devin Townsend's hair?
Nah, that's actually one of the cooler things about SYL.

Disco Donkey 01-18-2006 07:59 PM

Uggghhh....metal. I'm sorry, but that genre just seems to completely suck as of recently. Some of the classic metal is still good (Judas Priest, Metallica, and the like) but anything past circa 1999 is pretty much crap. The only thing I admire about some of the more recent metal bands is the technical proficiency of some of their guitarists. I hate most of the vocalists though. Therefore, if I'm in the mood for some kickass guitar playing, I opt for Joe Satriani. No useless screaming/shrieking/gargling/whatever, just good guitar playing.

Screaming/Shrieking/Gargling is where it's at.

Stop being single minded.

SubtleDagger 01-18-2006 08:11 PM

Anyone who doesn't like screaming on principle is usually lame.

conniption 01-18-2006 08:12 PM

Anthrax is where it's at in metal.

Tainted_Soul 01-18-2006 08:39 PM

I don't dislike screaming, gargling, etc. but I've found very few bands that I thought made that work well...I guess I've always liked to hear a real voice. My favorite exception though, is definetely Haggard. If you've never heard of them, buy, download, sell your soul or do whatever you have to do to get awaking the centuries. Its way worth it. Otherwise, I gotta agree that since Metallica brand metal faded out, its tough to find good metal bands...
