Jon: Listen to The Kinison. You might not like it, but it's unique.
I instantly liked The Kinison the first time I heard them. They're an excellent band.

I got into them after seeing them live with DEP. Good band live, obviously.

BridgeToSolace 11-04-2005 09:04 PM
They are pretty damn good, dude. I like.
Ridiculously good.

The kind of band that just makes you feel inferior.

Kane Hodder

skankin'sophr 11-05-2005 06:39 AM

i like these indie/pop-punk bands with keyboard lines that are starting to gain popularity. Like P!ATD, The AKAs, Hellogoodbye... Does anyone know other bands like them?

Kif 11-05-2005 06:42 AM

Motion City Soundtrack, Housten Calls, although Housten Calls are what I would call "turd".

hotcod32 11-05-2005 07:30 AM

try the maple state for sysnth based stuff... very diffrent to P!ATD but just as good in its own way, other bands i can think of are Valencia who are being hailed as the best new poppunk band around, the album is stunning from what i've heard, i need to get my hands on it and give it a real lission... also, bands like, over it, there a little over looked i think there first album is far better than the new one but still awsome... also take a look at some of the ealiar punchline stuff, espicaly the rewind ep which is nothing but simply stunning...

i've actaly found that its not so much that there are not any good bands doing intresting stuff but it dose seem very much like there first "major" albums all end up being over prouducsed and over worked and written so they ended up bland and all sounding samey

Kif 11-05-2005 07:43 AM

I always found Valencia quite boring, but I might have to listen to the album again. TMS are a great band as well, I have their EP and it's fun to listen to.

DJ Ducksauce 11-05-2005 06:50 PM

I thought you started a P!atD thread when I first saw the thread title. :(

P!atD and TAI are two great pop-punk bands that I have discovered this year.

Oh, I have A Wilhelm Scream-Ruiner. Does anyone want it?

Motion City Soundtrack, Panic! At the Disco, 504 Plan, Men, Women, Children and Animals.

Is that an affirmative?

billiejoe84 11-05-2005 10:08 PM

Indeed.

Thankyou, sir... I must permit you a request sometime, in the absence of rep++

Men, Women And Children are awesome from what I've heard of them.

I was pretty impressed when I first heard them. But their music is hard to get to.

Meh... You gotta start somewhere and Newbie introductions are surprisingly humiliating. So I just dive right in.

well i got my hands on the album i've not given it a full lission to yet... its not as amazeing as a lot of people seem to be makeing out... but it is very very good

Axelthesot 11-08-2005 01:30 PM

The Receiving End of Sirens, period.

The most musically talented band I've heard in a LONG time. Extremely well thought out lyrics and a concept album (their only album thusfar) release that will blow your mind if you give it a chance.

I've seen them live 4 times now, and each time it's the best show I've ever seen and I've seen alot of shows. They WILL melt your face live. Just don't sue them.

Firecracker 11-08-2005 02:14 PM

Catchy hooks, isn't that what it's all about?
Darn, all these years....

That's the whole point i listen to the music, i don't see why people have to stick up for a genre.

I wrote these guys off after listening to them on their Purevolume about 4 months ago, but I just got their album, and it's a nice blend of pop-punk melodies and post-hardcore riffs. It feels like it's inbetween Armor For Sleep and Saosin. Anyway, check out "Jubert's Path Of Destruction" and "Got Some Purple Stuff... Hey, Sunny D!" on their PV.

The Maple State desiver a link really may as well put a link to Fastlane another good UK band... oh and something else i'm enjoying at the moment The Academy Is... also my old favrout Punchline i highly recomend trying to get there older stuff and the rewind EP is simply amazing... the new album is soild but not fantast but basicly i rate it much higher than say huston calls but then again i'm not a huge fan of HC... while i'm linking i may as way recomend Bottom Line there not fantastic but theres some real promise there

JephasPineapple 11-11-2005 05:25 PM
